While in NYC for a business trip, our hosts took us to Court Square Diner for lunch. I was very excited to come here rather than some stuffy restaurant. As soon as I opened the menu, I knew I was going to be happy with the food choices. I started with an extra thick chocolate shake (amazing) and then had a Philly Cheese Steak with added jalapenos in it. The food was SO good. I was very pleased with my order, and all of the other 7 people seemed very happy with their food as well. Our servers were quick, attentive, and polite. You almost wouldnt have noticed them as they were very "down to business", sneaking in to grab empty plate or refilling water. The decor was nice in the diner too. It felt true to diner-form. That being said, the things I would have improved: 1) Give straws with water. The cups were pretty weathered and not having a straw was odd. 2) The straw that came with the milkshake (I know... yes for milkshake, no for water) could not have been thinner. This is a problem with an extra-thick shake. It did no good. I ended up tossing it and using my fork to essentially eat the milkshake. Regardless, still delicious. 3) Cleanliness in general. Again, this was a high-traffic diner. Im not expecting to eat off the table directly, but it wasnt exactly squeaky-clean and could have used a once-over. Prices were okay. Could be lower, but not bad. Food was delicious. Servers were great. I was definitely a fan and would be happy to go back any time.

Ive know about this place ever since I moved to LIC. I even saw that 30 Rock had a couple scenes in the diner. Even still, I had no real desire to come here because a diner is just a diner right? Well I just had dinner there and I was impressed with number of things. 1. The food was moderately priced. For some reason I thought this diner was going to be expensive because its location in LIC and that its been on a popular TV show. However, everything was the about the same price that I remember when I was younger about 10-15 years ago when I used to go to diners all the time after a night of parting. 2. The food was pretty good. I ordered the cobb sandwich with curly fries. I could have eaten all the fries without even a touch of ketchup, thats how good they were. The chicken in the sandwich was juicy and the avocado was fresh. 3. Aesthetically speaking, its one of the nicest diners Ive been to. There was a lot of silver trim everywhere and it looked like it was recently polished. Also, some of the mirrors had etched LIC landmarks on them. Im definitely coming back because I want to try a few other things on the menu. From what I saw, customers were ordering a range of food from matza ball soup, penne w/ chicken, salmon w/ veggies, to a steak dinner. Im looking forward to another inexpensive tasty meal and trying their breakfast/brunch options.

Court Square Diner is old school NY in all the right ways, and is everything you could want out of a diner. I started coming here when I first moved to LIC and have never been disappointed. The breakfast usuals are all solid. I am a big fan of their burgers. My standard order has become the chicken souvlaki pita, which is much better than it should be. You know those inserts in diner menus that list the weird daily specials? The "who the hell would ever order this at a diner" list? Well last time we went, we ordered a gazpacho starter and rosemary chicken as an entree, just to try something new. And you know what? They were pretty damn good! Even the gazpacho...actually...especially the gazpacho. There are occasional consistency issues with certain dishes. And I have had one bad thing - the turkey burgers leave something to be desired. But given the universally friendly service (at all hours), the 24 hour delivery and the way better-than-expected dessert options, this is four stars all the way.

I love diner food for their grease, simplicity and friendly atmosphere. Most importantly, I love warm pancakes and fluffy omelet in the morning! Court Square Diner seems to be quite happening in my neighborhood so I came by for lunch today. I ordered their Meat omelet and my mom got the turkey triple deckers. For my omelet, it is rather blend. I got Canadian Bacon with it but it does not taste like Canadian Bacon. The home fries has no seasoning and neither does the omelet. I wanted to add some ketchup and my table is missing it. The turkey sandwich is alright but really dry. I think their pancakes and waffles will probably taste better. One more thing to add is before we packed up the leftover sandwich, I found the toast to be moldy on one side! It was a huge letdown. I asked the waiter, and his answer was "it is not mold, it is just old bread". How is that supposed to make me feel better?

Food is good but very rude customer service.I had several orders that needed sugar on the side for my coffee and they kept not sending any, after ordering many times they kept doing the same thing, finaly I decided to call and asked why they did not send sugar on the side for my coffee, the guy on the phone lie to my face and said I did not want sugar, I reply no sugar in the coffee but some on the side,he insisted that I said no sugar at all, I told him this was not the first time it happened, he responded "what are you trying to say?" I reply am not trying to say am saying it. Long story short, the guy on the phone kept playing dum saying I did not order any sugar for my coffee.who in the world drinks coffee without any sweetener?

I dont know on what world people believe this restaurant to have good food or service. For starters, the waitress came off extremely strong, and often walked away from us when attempting to inquire about something. When we received the platter that the syrup came on, it was obvious that they didnt bother to check it before they took it off the last table. There were empty, used butter packets left on it. The milkshake and omelette that I had was bland. No amount of salt or pepper can save these meals. There were ten of us, ten dishes, and not a single one was worth the trip to Queens. For the price theyre charging (which is relatively high for a diner), they should focus more on improving the quality of their establishment.
