Well my first visit there was last night 8/16/09, I was not overly impressed. I ordered an Onion Kulcha, Alo Parata, Chicken Tika Masala, and a diet coke. Upon seating, I had to wait 5 minutes until they thought to bring out some papadan to munch on. Already not too impressed. The meal came out in a reasonable period of time, I really enjoyed the Onion Kulcha, It was made in 4 thin slices with wonderful flavor and texture. This was the best part of the meal.$4.00 for the bread was a good value. The Potato bread was terrible, it was link a large fluffy bready nan. Way too much bread, with some potato scouped into in. Really not very good. At $4.00 I should have put this in the trash. The Entree Chicken Tika Masala, was dull and not very flavorful, the chicken was way overcooked and appeared that it was not cooked fresh. Also the Entree was $16.00 Very overpriced for this quality. Even the "Diet Coke", was poured in a large glass, but the glass was more glass than soda. Overall, Nice place, bland food, the area does need a good indian resturant ,but the owner should think more of how to serve a good meal, I mentioned each thing to the waiter, and he just fluffed over it.

Food - This is nothing close to what Indian food should be. It was mostly bland, with no flavour. Please avoid this place. The mushroom soup was just too salty so we had to send it back, Our main course was Paneer Makhani, which tasted too bland and we couldnt eat more than few bites with bread. Service - We waited 1 hour for appetizers to come out, then 30 mins more for main course. They pulled out Mushroom soup that we had sent back to kitchen which shows they have some sense of how to conduct such matters. Ambience - Ambience is decent, hope the food and service matched it too. Overall - Totally avoidable and not worth it especially for the prices, drive 20 mins more and go to Hicksville if you are craving for Indian food, there are many restaurants there that serve authentic Indian cuisine.

I love the food at taj tandoor. Its a small unassuming storefront on Deer Park Ave across from CVS. The decor is pretty cool and its perfect for a small place. The food here is really good. I love the meat sambosa and the chickpea masala they have. The Naan is cooked in the tandoori oven which is just plain awesome. For my entree, Ive only had the chicken tikka masala that my wife orders and the tandoori half chicken which is the only thing I will get when im here. It comes out sizzling hot and the flavor and juiciness is hard to beat. I will definitely keep coming back, the owners are very good people!

Ordered Bengali fish curry and bhindi masala through Grubhub. Although the fish curry was fine, the bhindi masala has an odd "burnt" smell (for a lack of a better way to describe it). It was unpalatable. Being an Indian and an avid cook. I know how bhindi masala would taste. It was not just ordinary, it was odd tasting in a bad way. When I called to complain, I was casually brushed off saying that they did not receive any other complaints. What a pathetic response to a dissatisfied customer. Awful customer service. Never ordering from this place again.

Taj Tandoor is fantastic. Ive been going there for years and Chef Babars food is consistently excellent. I like all of his dishes but his Olde School Curry with Lamb is fantastic with wonderful tender meat and yummy gravy. The Chicken Tikka Masala is also very good. You cant go wrong here and they are great for takeout (its on the speed-dial on my phone.) The resto itself has great ambiance (feels like lower Manhattan or even London) - and everything is always spotless and clean. If you like good Indian - Taj Tandoor is a jewel on Long Island.

Taj Tandoor is the most discriminatory restaurant Ive ever been to. Three occasions Ive placed orders to go, and every time I entered to pick them up, they never approached me or acknowledged me for at least 7-10 minutes each. Not even "hello", "good afternoon" or "well be with you" as if I wasnt even there while they would walk PAST me to serve other people. I hate to say this, but being Black in America is hard and its clear and consistently a fact that Taj Tandoor has a problem Serving My Kind. To this night, they never even apologized.

The food is excellent. It was made to our specifications. The atmosphere is soothing (ambiance and music). The staff (Rakhi) is very cordial. His customer service skills are coupled with a great sense of humor. Guess what? we even got a complimentary mango lassi, which was delicious as well. My husband and I have traveled across the US and visited many Indian restaurants in Illinois, Michigan, NJ, NYC, PA, AZ, OH, VA, DC, MD... and this is so far the best for the price. Also, the restroom was clean and decorated well.

The food is not prepared to impress the Indian taste buds. That doesnt essentially mean that the food was bad. Just not the kind of food I would appreciate. Just lacks authenticity. Spice levels are mild to non-existent and hence my advice is that you express your spice requirements upfront so that you wont be disappointed later. Food portions are not bad. But for the price you pay(its kinda expensive), you could feed a whole town with better Indian food.

Stopped in while on Long Island and was pleasantly surprised, just a great experience here! The hostess was so sweet and helpful, and made a substitution for the lunch menu for us since it was the first time we were there. The food was good and portions ample. Also fluffy and delicious nan was served with the meal. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful, and I wished I had time to go back on my trip. Recommended!

This was our first time trying Indian food. We were very exited but the service was horrible. They didnt help at all and were very unwilling to explain or suggest anything from the menu. The food we ordered was ok but we never received any bread, sauces or even rice. It was also expensive. We will never go back again. They should get new waiters that have social skills and grace.

Great for take-out or sit-down dining - all the staples are excellent here, from korma to butter chicken, with hot, crispy naan on the side. Try their biryanis for something a little different - kind of like Indian fried rice! Rice pudding dessert is also on point, and if you order often enough, youll find a free one tucked into your bag.

The food was very delicious! A culinary enjoyment. The atmosphere is nice and simple. Cyrus is an amazing host. This restaurant has unique platters, not found in other Indian restaurants. The nice thing is that it is all reasonably priced. I must for anyone looking to have good traditional and modern Indian food.

Food and service were both great! Atmosphere was wonderful and server was very friendly. I ate at an off hour but my experience was still wonderful. Best Masala Ive had in a long time. $25 (with tip) was a bit steep for lunch though. I missed the lunch special price by a half hour. Would definitely recommend!

OMG I came in here to try Indian food. They had real live goats running around and men trying to catch them saying that it was dinner time! After I ate my goat and string bean soup I immediately started going #2 in my pants. I didnt even get to think it just started pouring out my bum.
