I had a delicious dinner at Fortinas that wowd me with its uniqueness, from the food to the staff and the decor. It was an experience not just a dinner! We shared our dishes, which was a fun way to experience Italian food. It was obvious that the wood-fired oven added and enhanced the flavors. The menu was not the standard Italian choices I could find anywhere. It was very cool to watch the cooking in the kitchen on the flat screen TV above the bar, which is in itself a work of art. Ask about all the different aspects of the decor. Theres a story behind everything, and the energy is upbeat, friendly, and it drew me in right away. From the moment I walked in, I felt like a special guest, at a happy, with everyone concerned about what I wanted, overseeing everything, checking on us. Congratulations to Chef Christian Petroni, to John Nealon and Rob Krauss! Your partnership and your restaurant is great. I cant wait to return!

Great place. The service is amazing here. My family lives very close to this restaurant and we go here often. If we arrive late at night, when the kitchen is closing, the staff always try to accommodate us and make sure that we can eat. They have told us that we can always call in advance and they will keep the kitchen open. Truly a place that knows good service. If you tell them that a dish was disappointing, they will take it away with no problem and even will refund a dish if they notice that you didnt like it/eat much of it. The food is great--the pizzas are nice and crispy with great toppings, the vegetable platter is amazing (great grilled vegetables with an amazing grilled lemon and a selection of sauces), the pastas are great too. Sometimes dishes can be a little sub-par, but most are amazing and the staff is always attentive! The atmosphere is great, the decor is very nice and rustic, and the place is always busy.

1) There was no one at the door to greet customers and staff just kept walking by without making eye contact for 5 minutes 2)The pizza was soggy and lacked all flavor... Except salt. And overpriced. It was $18 so we thought it would be big enough to share for 2 people - I ended up with 3 TINY slices. We thought about ordering a 2nd one but it didnt even taste good enough to want another. 3)The cannoli was the worst Ive ever had. The cream was runny and room tempurature. The "nutella surprise" was a disgusting blob of Nutella in the middle of the cannoli. I dont understand why they thought they needed to ruin a good thing. 4) The music was way too loud for the afternoon and on top of that the staff spent the entire time we were there rearranging furniture. We spent the whole meal watching- and listening - to them move tables and chairs across the restaurant. Id give it 0 stars if I could.

Came in for dinner with some friends and WOW. From the service to the ambiance to the food, complete WOW. Michaela (Im sure I spelled it wrong) and Maria were terrific. The food came out quickly and was hot and DELICIOUS. We had the cold cut platter, fried meatballs, wood-fired cauliflower and wood-fired carrots to start. All were amazing! The sauce on the cauliflower was, you guessed it, WOW! Probably my favorite part of the meal. The carrots were sweet and perfect. The meatballs, juicy and delicious! We had The Bearded Lady and Bada Bing cocktails which we all enjoyed. For our main course we had lots of delicious pizza: Luigi Bianco - black truffle was superb. Tenderoni - spicy and delicious, the chili oil makes this pie. San Gennaro - the sesame surprisingly worked. Great food, great service. We will absolutely be back!

We recently hosted our daughters baptism party for over 30 family members and friends. Our experience with Fortina was, in one word, amazing. From the moment we walked in the door, we were welcomed by their incredibly competent and attentive staff. Within minutes, all of our guests had a drink in hand and the party was underway! The food seemed to come out slowly at first, but I honestly think thats because we were all so hungry and anticipating the wonderful food. Speaking of, the food was absolutely delicious and we ALL left the party completely stuffed and raving about the food! We were treated and fed like royalty and our daughters baptism celebration was a success because of the incredibly great service from Chris, Faith, Kathy and Christina! Thank you Fortina!!!

We just had a truly fabulous meal, and overall, an amazing experience at Fortina. Our day began by sitting in hours of traffic heading into Brooklyn, and after a really long day, we decided to stop in at Fortina for a quick bite on our way back home. As expected, it was packed on a Saturday evening, but we didnt have to wait long for a seat. We started with the grilled Polpo (delicious) and arugula salad with shaved parmesan, and then for our main course, shared the grilled rib eye with the roasted cauliflower and asparagus on the side. Amazing. But where Fortina earned the fifth star of this review was from the wonderful service received - attentive. thoughtful, and genuine - from the moment we walked in, to the moment we left. Well be back!

My husband, daughter, son-in-law, grandson, and I when to dinner last evening. This was our 3rd visit. First of all, we have NEVER had an infant seat upon arriving at the restaurant. Last night, 3 other families also had to beg for infant seats. There is no reason why the restaurant cant obtain additional seats for the many families with small children who frequent the location. As important, the meal was okay, but not stellar. We ordered the fried meatballs, which came at least 10 minutes prior to the pizza we also ordered as an appetizer. The meatballs were not hot. The pizza was excellent. The ravioli that I ordered as a main course and that was very tasty, was less than filling. It was a disappointing outing.

I ate here at the bar with my wife and it was fun. Food was good, drinks were a bit pricey, but all in all, we had a good time. However, trying to make a reservation is a joke as I just found out.... Although they are booked, the kid kept telling me "we will make a note" or "we will get you a seat at the bar as soon as someone gets up". When pressed with my question "do I have a reservation or not", the answer was no... we are booked. So after taking my name and my number and leading me to believe I had a reservation... I did not. I am glad I did not drag my wife to a place where I would have no seat. Its a shame that they have such an inexperienced person answering the phone. Sounded like he was 14.
