Ive always drove past this place and wanted to go in. I finally had the opportunity to tonight , and I can say I will never go back again. For starters I give this place two stars because it was very clean and well decorated and thats it. The staff that was working tonight consisted of 1 host that was a male, 1 waitress with long brown hair, and a bartender who was I guess a manager. Granted we walked in when they were 15 mins about to close. But we clearly stated that we are just getting a shot and beer if that was okay. We moved toward the bar and the man (manager) who was behind the bar working was not friendly and quick to rush us. I get it- I work in customer service and my girlfriend works at a restaurant , but you can let someone know you are close to last call and be friendly about it. We received our drink and shot fairly quickly. As we were finishing our beers the waitress and hostess were having a conversation about quitting her job and complaining and the manager let them communicate in that way were I felt uncomfortable to even bring my business back again. I would hope he said something to them afterword because it was extremely inappropriate for the conversation to be held while guests were still at the bar. At this point we had about 1 sip left in our beer and we quickly took that and left. I wish this wasnt my first experience with this place because I am sure it is a favorite to many and the atmosphere is to be craved. My girlfriend and I will not be returning for these reasons we work in customer service and understand where they were coming from but know that is HIGHLY INAPPROPRIATE. I will communicate this further with the Gm tomorrow. My reason for this post is not to make people not want to go there, by all means go, but for peopl working at the company to be aware and not be so immature when it comes to the comments they make when guests are present.

Went for a work related dinner with a pre-set menu. So disappointed with the food- the only thing that was good was the salad. Pasta marinara was overcooked and mushy (was in broken pieces in serving bowl), and marinara sauce was more like chunks of plum tomatoes from a can with no seasonings. We werent given serving utensils (pasta was served family style). Entree was a complete disaster- vegetarian option was to have been a different pasta with seasonal vegetables but the same awful pasta marinara was served. Questioned this and was told this was what was available, then had to wait extended period to receive broken pasta again with steamed string beans and overcooked broccoli on top (same vegetables served with other entrees). Didnt stay for the dessert, which was listed as homemade bread pudding. Thought that was ironic because we were never given any bread during our dinner. Think this place should stick with serving drinks and typical bar food instead of trying to be a true restaurant.

Been to the place a few times now. The first 2 times were for a work event which I thought was great. The apps were good, mac and cheese balls, spring rolls, wings, etc. The drinks are great. An awesome beer menu, and great cocktails too. Tonight we ordered the sliders, mini tacos, and the poutine with duck confit. The sliders were pretty standard. The mini tacos came 6 tacos, 3 different kinds. The cod taco was AWESOME. The light sauce with scallions was so fresh and delicious!!! I could have eaten a million if them. Unfortunately, the tuna tartar and salmon tartar tacos were very salty, and the sauce was a very thick, heavy soy sauce base. They were very mismatched from the cod which was definitely the best. We were very excited for the poutine with gorgonzola and duck confit. It was BEYOND SALTY, and we couldnt finish it. As Im writing this review at home I still feel the salt in my mouth :( All in all, I would definitely still go back for the drinks. Very cool vibe.

I dont trust Bergen County. I trust New York, Philadelphia and a small part of Jersey City. Its a question of who supports great food, classic service and an adventurous list of spirits. Dog and Cask offers all of those things at a level that I dont think Bergen County deserves. From the simple but perfectly cooked Strip Steak to the elegant Merguez sausage; from the remarkable Chardonnay through the Ballast Point Sculpin IPA to the astonishing Hibiki bourbon, the experience was completely satisfying. The "wait staff" was knowledgeable and solicitous but unobtrusive. Trust them to make recommendations; they know their craft. The bartender delivered our bourbon selections with a brief explanation of the shape of the glass (and I think a tacit "thank you" for our foregoing ice). Well go back as soon as we can screw up enough courage to leave the comfort and security of our urban environment and brave the rusticana of Northern NJ.

We had the most awful experience at this restaurant today. My husband wanted to try the restaurant so we went at 12:40 on Friday on our way out of town for a wedding. We ordered and waited 45 min before a very peppy smiling watress informed us that our food was delayed because they were making the fried chicken fresh because it was the first order of the day. We waited another 15 min before our food finally arrived which was about the time we were about to ask for our check and leave. So, was the food worth waiting for? Absolutely not. The fried chicken had a strange seasoning and the steak sandwich was just not that good. Knowing that we were annoyed, the manger/owner offered us free coffee/dessert, but one must ask themselves - we were already there for much longer than planned. Why would we want to extend our stay? We declined the offer and instead ended up with a $8 credit on our bill as we now rush to get to our destination.

Ive been going to the Dog & Cask since they opened. Its good food with a great atmosphere. I actually celebrated my birthday here a couple years ago where I wound up meeting my boyfriend. Well, he proposed to me on Saturday at the Dog and Cask where we first met. He had called a day or two before and told them his plan. I cannot stress enough THANKS to the staff for all their help and assistance in making his proposal PERFECT. Not only I was TOTALLY surprised but the staff went above and beyond in making us feel so special. From keeping the one half of the restaurant clear for an intimate setting, to bringing us champagne after I said yes. The waitress video taped the whole proposal and then they even played Bruno Mars "Marry You" as the patrons cheered. The Dog & Cask will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you thank you a thousand times over!

Been here twice for lunch, every week they have a tap takeover which is cool (but can be a good or bad thing depending on if you like the brewery/feel like trying new beer). The food is really good, the first time I ordered fish and chips which it was super greasy which I didnt love (but I think thats just how fish and chips are, plus all my friends loved their burgers). The second time I had the lamb burger which was so good it made up for the previous fish and chips disappointment. The spices in the lamb were awesome, and it was cooked really well. Only criticism I have is the food takes kinda long. All in all I would say its definitely worth a visit and be sure to try the lamb burger
