ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! Our experience was terrible. The waitress ditched our table in the middle of our order so that she could wait on a bigger table, there were flies everywhere, each step in the process of ordering, following up, getting our food and paying was too long. The waitress didnt seem interested in our table. The menu looked good, but the execution was lacking. Our kids were served unripe fruit, food was overwhelmingly spicy when it didnt indicate that on the menu and part of another order had unripe avocados. Some stuff was good - the mighty green breakfast sandwich was delicious - but overall incredibly disappointing. The biggest no-no was the waitress didnt even bother to give me full change when I paid and she didnt offer to give a receipt either. She technically stole from me - it may have been only thirty cents or so - but the fact she couldnt be bothered to give the correct money back from my payment is OUTRAGEOUS!!!

Was going to compliment this place on their food because it is delicious. But, I was saddened to enter the establishment today and find that my favorite waitress, Helene, had been fired. For four years Helene was a hard working, loyal employee. She had developed a great following of regulars and made sure everyone was happy and satisfied upon entering and leaving Sunrise Cafe; we always left with a smile. What a mistake this place has made by letting her go. Mysteriously over the last month random complaints had come through, Helene had never received a complaint in the four years she had worked for Sunrise. Sunrise Cafe decided to fire Helene the day she found out her husband has been hospitalized due to heart attack. Im appalled by the actions of this establishment. Since this is how employees are treated here, my business will be taken elsewhere... What a shame.

Rediculously terrible food and over-priced as well. Scrambled eggs were over-cooked and just plain horrible. The short-stack is one pancake and they charge you $9 for it. Nine dollars for a single pancake is totally absurd, given that the quality is wholly lacking: for example, the “cinnamon swirl” or whatever its called is a plain pancake with some kind of whipped sweet butter nonsense on top, with little to no cinnamon anywhere in the dish. Again, for $9 serving something that terrible should be criminal. I dont see why you wouldnt go over to Dennys, pay 1/3 less, and spend the difference on a nice latté elsewhere. Save your money—especially if you have a family—and eat elsewhere. One final note: I dont fault the wait staff here at all: theyre generally nice, attentive and thoughtful. Its the kitchen that requires a dramatic reversal.

On April 15th, took my whole family to this restaurant. Biggest mistake ever! The waitress on this day, was the biggest jerk. Ever time I ask her for something, it was like I was bothering her. She bought my son pancakes, with no syrup or butter. Asked her for both, and it took forever to get it. She never bought the butter? I live on the island, and u can guarantee everyone will know about my experience. I was angry, and embarrassed by this horrible waitress and her nasty apathetic attitude. What kind of buiness are u running here? Asked for a box for my mother-in-laws sandwich-never got it. Out of anger, went to the counter to be ignored some more, stood their, what seemed to be forever. Finally got the box, paid a lot of money for the food, to be treated like crap! Thanks a lot. Not to mention, the food was horrible. Never again!

We heard great things about this place. Unfortunately our first visit really didnt agree with the masses so we wrote a review stating our dissatisfaction with breakfast. We received a pleasant response from the Cafe telling us to email them to discuss what happened. We did and they never responded. So it seems to us it was a front to appear as if they are interested in customer experiences but truly they are not. Our initial review delicately stated the dissatisfaction so not to make it public. However, here is what we provided in the way of feedback to the management; there were about a dozen flies roaming the dining room, the pancakes were nearly burnt on one side and near raw on the other, the omelette was rubbery in texture and in a rubbery aftertaste, and the bacon was dry like jerky (not to be confused with burnt).

Enjoyed breakfast at Sunrise Café our first morning in OC. Great food; bright dining room; energetic and capable staff; the best!!! My poached eggs were perfect and my wife had "the best oatmeal ever!" Other plates coming out of the kitchen looked so good we had to go back the next morning. We woke up the second morning to torrential rain and flooding, so we decided to use SCs carry out - phenomenal! Oatmeal was again the best and the red, white, and blue French Toast was great. And, who puts a parchment paper liner between the food and the container? SC in OC; thats who! Quality food; great atmosphere; friendly staff - you MUST eat at Sunrise Café!!!

I LOVE Sunrise Cafe on Asbury Avenue. I go there every time I am in Ocean City, NJ. They have an excellent staff and a huge selection of both breakfast and lunch items served all day on the menu. They also run weekly specials for only $5.00 in the off season! Everything is deliciously homemade. I really recommend the Kickin Shrimp Sub, which is one of their lunch specialities or a Sharons Best Salad with homemade sweet vinegar dressing. This is my "go to" place to eat in Ocean City because I always satisfied with my dining experience! Check it out..you wont be disappointed :)

This place is aweful. They have no idea how to cook and egg ordered over easy and 2 orders came out fried super hard with no yolk to dip bread in. Served toast with no butter and had to wait like 5 minutes for them to bring me butter, no seasoning on the potatoes. Also just so you know a short stack of pancakes cant be a single pancake($6.50 by the way) to be a stack you must have at least 2 to be considered a "stack". Disgraceful for a breakfast place

We went for an event - Breakfast with Santa. Our wait time was about 10 minutes less than what they quoted us, which was great. Server was very nice, pancakes were delicious, I really enjoyed my waffle, eggs were cooked as ordered and tasted good from what I was told. Husband got the creamed chipped beef and told me next time he would rather eat the food that fell on the kitchen floor. Bottom line, great place to eat, but avoid the cream chopped beef!

I liked nothing about it. Wanted 3 eggs over easy. Cook couldnt flip an egg. My three were cooked individually and raw. Supposed to break the egg whites on the first flip. My girlfriend 2 over easy eggs were over medium well. It was way overpriced. Orange juice was warm. Server held every cup she brought by the rim of the glass. The food itself was good and the server was ok. I wont be back.

My girlfriend and I were very upset with our overall experience with the Sunrise Cafe. We had ordered from the breakfast menu and found that the pancakes had absolutely no taste to them, the home fries were burnt, the orange juice was warm, and overall everything we had ordered was bland. Our server was pushy/rude and unprofessional. We do not intend on going back.
