We went to this cafe looking for a coffee place on our way to Cape May Whale watching. The owner, Toni gave us a warm welcome with a smile. We liked the place and ended up having breakfast there. Some of us had food restrictions but our hostess, Amanda, and the chef Teresa were really accommodating and prepared special sandwiches for us. Its a nice small family run place, the ambience was quiet, the cleanliness was awesome and the staff were super friendly. We had a nice time and ended up spending more time than we initially planned for - drinking free coffee refills and their homemade fries. 5 Stars for the food, cleanliness and hospitality.

We found this place on the way to ocean city. We needed a place to eat before catching the ferry. To our surprise we found McGlades Backstreet and had possibly the best meal of our lives. My wife and I split our meals. She had the rack of lamb. The presentation was phenomenal and Ive never tasted anything so scrumptious. I had the crab cakes. Huge lumps of crab meat. The service was exceptional. The prices just right. Oh, by the way, make sure to try some of the deserts. The are made fresh every night and you can sure tell. I look forward to eating here every time i come to Cape May .

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here last summer (2016). He had pan fried sea bass and I had the steak with bleu cheese butter. Both were delicious. The service was great and the BYOB (no corking fee) helped keep the cost down. We were too full full for dessert so we brought the entire family (15 aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.) back with us for breakfast that weekend. Everyone enjoyed their selections and the bananas foster french toast was to die for. Were planning to go back for the rack of lamb this summer.

Although Mc Glades is a little off the beaten path from the ocean area, it is well worth the short drive. The food is absolutely fabulous, and while not an elegant atmosphere, the dining room is cute and comfortable...just the kind of atmosphere most people like at the shore. We have eaten there many times, both in large and small groups, and never been disappointed.

Off the beaten path well hidden gem in Cape May. Ive been summering and visiting CM for over 25 years. In that time I have eaten at the "best of the best" in CM. Backstreet Café resides on my best of list.

Food was great, service was great, atmosphere was like McDonalds. Family with kids screaming, kicking table and management did nothing. Very irritating.
