If people were actually aware of how cocky and arrogant the owner is no one would buy his crappy canned sauce pizza. Just watch him the way he walks around town and when he drives his old beat up BMW that he thinks is a new 7 series. Mr. Sherman, I know you have been told this before...your responses to the reviews of your pizza shop speaks volumes to your character. I am truly amazed of your demeanor as a local business man. (and I know others are as well) I know you think like this all the time about others...and even though it is not right for me to think like you...I cannot wait until the high-end specialty deli and pizza shop next door takes you down. It is only a matter of time and you know it too thats why your pizza shop is for sale on CL. Maybe you should re-read your comments to the reviews about your business. Do you think everyone is going to like your food even if it was good and not canned sauce? If you look at any negative review about any other local business in the area it will be hard to find a local business owner taking shots at the people who write negative reviews about their business. Some may be as arrogant and cocky as you but at least they know how to act and speak to others in public. BYE BYE MR. SHERMAN IT WONT BE MUCH LONGER :)

It is truly sad how some people in this small town of Atlantic Highlands continue to try and bash 1st Ave pizza. There are hundreds of photos of happy customers including some celebrities and politicians and they have made countless donations to local schools, churches as well as $3,000 to the local volunteer first aid squad. This is more than 95% of the other businesses in town have done over the past three years. Hopefully, they do not leave as there is no other quality pizza in town. The only thing "high-end" about the new Italian specialty store/pizza is their prices. Stuffed peppers and fresh mozzarella were average but pricey. Cant say I know anyone who would go and buy their butcher meats, Italian deli products and Italian pastrys at a pizzeria. This new store makes no sense and AH already has 6 pizzerias, at least 5 sandwich/delis and the BEST bakery in NJ, The Flaky Tart. There is absolutely nothing Original about this new pizzeria/deli.

I live local and have frequented this pizza shop a few times in the past and never had any problems really. Today I decided to stay in and order 2 pies, a chicken parm pizza and a plain pie. The order took over an hour to get to the house and after paying close to $37 dollars for literally 2 pies I came to realize that the plain pie was black on the bottom and clearly burnt and the chicken parm pie which had nothing more than a half a breast of thinly sliced chicken was mushy and falling apart. Also found a hair in one of the slices of chicken parm pizza and struggled to try to enjoy the others afterwards. Strongly disappointed in literally EVERYTHING overall and probably will no longer patronize this establishment.

The pizza was extremely overpriced and the quality was poor at best. Ordered a large plain pizza as well as a large chicken parm pizza; Over 36 dollars for the both of them, not including delivery tip. The plain pizza was burnt and the chicken parm had only 2 slivers of chicken on it. This place is overpriced and the food quality is nowhere near acceptable. If you want good pizza, try Naples Pizza in Belford or Valentinos Pizza in Belford.

Im frequenting 1st Ave Pizza about once a week. Friendly service, tons of selection and quite frankly the best pizza Ive had in a while. One thing I can say is that theyre consistently good. Some pizza places have "off days" but I havent hit one yet with 1st Ave. These guys are on a roll and Id pick them over anyone else in the area, hands down. Favorites include chicken parm pizza, buffalo chicken and Sicilian.

YOU FEEL A CUSTOMER WHO DIDNT LIKE YOUR FOOD IS A SMEAR CAMPAIN?? I am sorry but judging from the signs you have all over your store and on your pizza boxes i expected your food to be AMAZING, and unfortunalty it wasnt. maybe it was an off day, maybe not. I hope if we try it again the food is better and I can give you a better review!

I do not live in Atlantic Highlands but someone who does told me to try the place as i am always looking for good pizza - the pizza was great and the owner (at least i think he was the owner) was super helpful and we had a very good customer experience there despite my order difficulties. I would definitely recommend the place.

Just did a little taste test comparing the two new pizza joints in town-- 1st Avenue Pizza was the clear winner-- the ingredients are clearly superior to the competition creating a taste reminiscent of the Pizza Parlors of every Jersey kids youth. Very friendly family owned business. Were definitely coming back.

The owner of this place is a lunatic... He calls the police on his customers when they refuse to pay for food that isnt correct... He doesnt have a kitchen to cook food properly so of your ordering anything other then pizza your taking risks.... The health department should close this clown down

I have eaten my fair share of pizza and there are plenty of good places around Monmouth County. 1st Ave. Pizza is by far my favorite. I drive over a half hour just to get a pie with my family. Highly recommend this place. Owner and staff and friendly and have a good sense of humor.

If I could give them a higher star I would they are the best pizza consistently in the area and definitely worth the drive plus the owner is super friendly (and I have tried almost every pizza place in the area)

If your looking for quantity over quality, this is your place. Sign outside reads "awArd winning pizza" yet there was no contest. Just a title does not make the food. Salt in pizza sauce is not Italian at all.

Pizza is very good, best in area. Not New York pizza but close enough. Tried the pizza and food next door and found all to be horrible.
