We came by after trying a competitor down the street and wanting to be able to really say, "Place X is better". At the end of the day, this place was awesome a did a better job in the realm of baked sweets than some of the other spots in the area. We started with a sample of a donut hole which both I and my 2.5 year old appreciated. We decided that two donuts and two cookies were in order. We began with the peanut butter-banana-chocolate face donut. This may be the best donut since the beginning of time and may be the calorie dense item Ive ever seen. The face on the outside a good start, but the inside filled with the aforementioned combo makes for what shall henceforth be known as bakery bliss. Seriously, this was incredible and may be a superfood - the sort of thing that would solve hunger problems if distributed widely. We then procured a cherry bomb and as its name suggested, it is indeed a delicious weapon. The filling was good, but the real magic was occurring in the actual donut - it was straight up amazing! Soft, sweet and delicious - its how I imagine a diabetic cloud tastes on a warm day. We also indulged in a couple angry bird cookies as they were colorful and a 2.5 year old does love colorful carbs! We made the mistake of keeping them until the following day at which time the fluffy cookie had been sucked dry of moisture and was rather hard. Moral of this story is that you should eat these the same day. They have complimentary coffee for all patrons and plenty of seating at which to enjoy your baked deliciousness. Based on the reviews my expectations were not super high, but after coming by, Im hooked! This spot, along with another down the way, make for quite the intimidating and delicious bakers mile! Worth checking out and them coming back to again.

They need to rename Mel-O-Glaze and call it, Day-Old-Glaze. This morning (a Monday) around 8:30am, I decided to stop in and treat the kids to donuts/cookies before dropping them off for a camp trip. Upon entering the bakery, I noticed there were very few donuts in the cases, many empty trays. In a previous visit, having been sold a stale donut and being disappointed, I quickly was suspicious that they once again were serving donuts that were not made that day. I would have walked out after seeing the many empty trays and then tasting the sample donut holes on the counter, my suspicion was correct, stale! I didnt want to disappoint the kids, therefore I had the kids pick out a donut or a cookie from what few options there was. Since they had no chocolate glazed raised donuts in the case, I asked the employee if she had any more in the back? She went into the back and came out with a tray of donuts. We picked out two chocolate glaze raised donuts, normally if fresh, a specialty of theirs. Upon sitting down to eat the donuts and a cookie in the bakery, my donut was indeed stale as the rest of the bakery items the kids had. To add fuel to the fire, they charged me full price for bakery items that they know are not fresh! I paid $8 for 4 bakery items that are stale. Having been burned now a second time purchasing stale donuts, I will NEVER go back! Its a shame, because its a small business and have supported them, recommended them, and enjoyed their donuts for years. You may get lucky and stop in on a day when they are baking fresh donuts, but buyer beware. Im taking my business to several other local bakeries next time we want a treat. Shame on you Day-Old-Glaze.

Went on a Sunday morning and expected........more. There was no line, there was very little selection and the donuts were mediocre. I have heard about this place for a year or more and finally made the trek to go try it. Selection at 8:30 on a Sunday was not very good as far as donuts go. The coffee was the remnants in bottom of hot pot and not very good. Donuts have a pretty good glaze but thats about as far as it gets, you cant actually taste the dough past the glaze and toppings. The service was pretty good, guy behind counter was personable and answered questions. As far a value goes- we have a coupon deal so wasnt too expensive. Probably wont go back.

I have been in this bakery at least 3 times. The first time, I cant say the person helping me was very friendly. I thought the items were pretty good, but pricey. I decided to give it another chance. The next two times I was in here, a different person helped me out. He couldnt look me in the eyes or really say anything at all besides grunting out the price as he rang me up. I had heard good things about this place, but the service is really pretty poor quality and the items are overpriced overall. I cant say I will give this "establishment" my patronage in the future. Just north of this on 42nd st is A Butchers Wife bakery... I recommend them.

This place is mediocre on a good day. The decorated cookies look like they were slopped together by a little kid, they lacked flavor and texture as well. The lemon bar was ok, but Ive definitely had better. Im not sure whats so infamous about their "special "glaze. It tasted like any other powdered sugar glaze. Not to mention the fact that the woman at the counter was touching all the baked goods with her bare hands while handling cash and the customer area was filthy. Maybe we went there on a bad day, even so, I dont think Ill ever go back here. I worked in the basket business for twelve years, I would be embarrassed to own a place like that.

My father has been going to Mel-O-Glaze since it opened and I hope to continue that tradition! They serve great, old-fashioned donuts that are covered in surgery goodness, so not for the faint of heart! Their legal crack balls (glazed donuts holes) are to die for! I bring these in to my workplace and everyone loves them! The people are so friendly and they are dog-friendly! So bring your four-legged friend with you for some home-made dog treats as well! As an added bonus they have recently started serving coffee!

Tasty but expensive! Ive stopped in here about 10 times or so and have always found their products to be fresh and tasty. The downside though is that they can be a bit pricey. This past week for example I was buying for a few people, so I ended up buying 4 donuts and 6 of the donut holes (or Timbits to the Timmies fans here) and my purchase came to a whopping $17.00. So yeah, basically think of this place as the $4 donut store and you wont be unpleasantly surprised.

I have gone twice to Mel-o-glaze. The first time I arrived before it opened, and the staff was kind enough to let me purchase the BEST glazed donut in the world (seriously awesome!). I went back yesterday and bought a homemade Angry Birds cookie for my daughter and some of the best glazed donut holes I have ever tasted. My wife got the bizmark and claims its the best shes ever had - and shes got high standards on this stuff! This is my new favorite donut shop!
