Ixtapa is a Mexican restaurant that has great Mexican food. For the past three years my fiance and I have either eaten at the restaurant, or ordered in from the restaurant two or three times a month. We enjoy their food, and in the past have enjoyed their service. However, over the course of the past few months, the service at the restaurant has gone downhill. Three weeks ago we went in to eat at the restaurant with my fiances parents and brother. When we arrived, they insisted on seating our group of five adults in a booth, then sat another group of two at a table for eight. When asked if we could be moved to a larger table, we were refused twice, while smaller groups were seated at the larger tables. This was not only inconvenient for us, but also for the staff as they had to squeeze around the fifth person in our group who was seated in a chair at the end of the booth. Despite that frustration and lack of logic, we didnt even think about not going back, as it is one of our favorite restaurants. Two weeks ago we ordered out from the restaurant for a large group, ordering 9 dinner meals. They missed one of the meals completely, despite the hostess reading the order back to me three times in order to ensure the order was correct. We didnt discover the missing meal until we got back home and were distributing the food. We ran back to the restaurant to pick up the food, only to be charged for the meal despite the fact that the missing meal was a mistake on their part - their hostess had read it back to me that she had included it in our order. Again, since it is a favorite restaurant of ours, we decided not to worry about it. Tonight, we ordered in again with a friend. We ordered a pretty simple order - two orders of steak fajitas, and an order of three bean and cheese enchiladas. The hostess didnt quite seem to understand what we were ordering, so I made sure to confirm each item with her at the end of the order. My fiance went to pick up the food. When he got home and we opened the food we realized that the order was messed up again - only two enchiladas were included, one with beef, and one with cheese. We were also missing the tortillas for the fajitas. I called the restaurant, and the hostess seemed baffled by the fact that the order was incorrect, and had a hard time understanding that we only wanted bean and cheese on the enchiladas. She said that she would have them re-make the order, and that we wouldnt be charged for it... When my fiance arrived at the restaurant (10 minutes later), they hadnt yet started making the food. The hostess asked him yet again what he wanted, and when he explained that it was supposed to be bean and cheese enchiladas, she went back and relayed it to the kitchen. They brought the food out a few minutes later, and the order was yet again wrong. When he told them it was supposed to be ONLY beans and cheese, no meat, and that he had ordered three enchiladas, not two, he was told that he was going to have to pay extra for these changes. As far as I understand, it is common practice in a restaurant that when a customer places an order, and the restaurant makes it incorrectly, the restaurant replaces it on their dime, no questions asked. When you consider the fact that they had already skipped giving us two orders of tortillas that came with our other meals, it really shouldnt have been an issue for them to provide him with one additional enchilada, especially after he had already driven to the restaurant twice for this order. We have spent the last three years talking up this restaurant as one of our favorites to friends and family. We have been loyal customers, eating at this establishment 2-3 times a month. We love their food, and until the past month have really loved the services. However, after tonight, we will no longer frequent this restaurant, nor will we recommend it to anyone. Its very unfortunate that the service at this restaurant has recently degenerated so much.

DEFIANTLY COMING BACK! just went out for my mothers 55 birthday and we actually wanted to go in ON The Boarder and the wait was an hour, on a Wednesday really?! so my mom didnt want to give up Mexican. They took us right away, gave us hot fresh chips and hand made salsa (my family owns a garden center i know fresh foods when i taste them) and our own salsa trays "theres no fighting". when we finished the basket of chips we hoped our server would come back around to refill, after the thought he came with out foot hot and ready to eat then brought back another basket of chips. The dishes were pretty big (i know most chains are making smaller portions for the same cost). and i dont know if the waiter heard us but he brought over a cake and said "happy birthday madam" it was so polite! I live in woburn yes the parking sucks, its right on the corner, id suggest to park behind the church and cross the street theres always parking over there. I rarely right reviews because i work in retail and people just right angry reviews but my experience was very good and id deff go back! :)

We recently moved from Arlington to Woburn, and I guess we were spoiled with the quality of Mexican food in Arlington (Acitron is great). Still, we thought wed give Ixtapa a try. We ordered the taco bites, a seafood enchilada and a pork chimicanga, all to go. I should have realized the food wasnt going to be great when the person taking my order said it would be ready in 10-15 min. Once I got home with the food, I was immediately suspicious. The taco bites looked like they had been the kind you buy in the grocery store, the seafood enchilada contained imitation crab meat, and the chimicanga wasnt crunchy at all, it was just a burrito. The beans and rice were good, same with the chips, salsa and guac. The pork in the chimicanga was ok, a bit dry. 2 stars for fast service, ok sides, but very poor quality main dishes. We wont return.

Its great food...When the waiter gets the order right! Both burritos were not even close to correct, the meat was NOT beef...or even chicken Idk wtf it was... Look, I love this place but the guy who brings the chips is now a terrible waiter there,I hope he doesnt wonder why his tip was short.. To make it worse I know it wasnt the kitchen because after he walked away he came back to confirm that I wanted chicken.. I didnt! Wtf is wrong with this place now? Avoid lunch here! Also service has gone down here a lot. I expect the owner to contact me...if not dont expect me to talk up this restaurant anymore.

The menu was pricey and the food was bland. $25 for a beer, queso, and a 3 item plate is almost twice what Im used to paying for something similar. Add the tip, and Im in $30 bucks for mediocre Mexican food. The Chile Relleno tasted as if it may have been cooked from frozen. The chimichanga was mediocre and bland. The enchilada was lacking sauce and again bland. It wasnt terrible, but I wouldnt recommend it. Its certainly not worth the price.
