The waiter didnt actually look at us until he brought the bill. Our plates were placed on the table without a word, and by the time we looked up to say "thanks," the waiters back was turned and he was gone. I had considered ordering a Margarita, but there was no real opportunity, since I hadnt ordered it at the same time that I ordered my food. The food was unexpectedly bland (taco salads), so I added the salsa that had come with the chips. I noticed that most other women were carrying roses as they left their tables. It felt almost as if wed been singled out to receive cruddy service. Somehow, my companion, who was paying for the meal and tip, hadnt noticed all this and gave our waiter an average tip. On the plus side, the waiter ensured that we took roses as we were leaving, since it was Mothers Day, and they had a big bucket of roses by the door.

Owned and operated by authentic Mexican family. Clearly shows in the decor, music and, most importantly, the food. Started with a delicious Chicken Fajita soup. Sweet and zesty with good chunks of chicken and cheese. Next sizzling fajitas were piping hot and perfectly seasoned. What I noticed was the freshness of all ingredients. My wife had chimichanga and expected to rake some home; there was none left. El Mariachi was recommended by friends. We got there at about 4:30pm on a Saturday and got a nice booth. Within a half hour, the place was packed. The bar area looks nice with good TVs but we werent there for that. The staff is welcoming and our waiter engaged us in some Spanish and about some Mexican geography. I highly recommend this restaraunt.

Discovered this gem some years ago as the result of a mail coupon. It immediately became our go-to Mexican restaurant, and one of my favorite restaurants all together. From service (bus staff better than your average waitstaff), to food, to bar service, (the house margarita, on tap, is awesome), as good as the classic whole-in-wall places in San Diego that I was introduced to years ago that set the bar for Mexican food.

Food is always good here - a nice mix of Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican dishes. Also very well known for its huge bar area. Only negative: tables are close together and it can be difficult to move around; also, not great for anyone who has difficulty with stairs as the bathrooms require you to go up and down a small (2 up, 2 down) set of stairs.

Fast service. Asked to have just tacos instead of the meals and they did it no problem. Very accommodating. So I got 8 tacos the pork chimichanga meal and beef burrito meal for under $45 dollars. It was enough to feed 4 adults and 2 children.
