This is the place that I go to on my way to work almost every morning. Why? The scent of delicious roasted coffee beans pulls me in. The green (as an apple) wallpaper is covered with words of inspiration that help to start my day on the right foot. This is a place where I go to have deep conversations with friends or grab a quick bite to eat before my morning commute. The waitstaff is friendly and helpful. So if you are like me and have a hard time choosing from the homemade selections of pastries and breads, theyll work with you to make the perfect choice for your visit. Ive defaulted to their crusty ham-and-cheese croissant with a Café au lait. Perfect walking food! Pro Tip: If youre going to try their bread pudding, ask them to heat it up. It taste ten times better this way!

This is by far my favorite South End cafe. I have yet to have any baked good that I didnt enjoy. Try the low-fat muffins for breakfast (I love the peach muffin!), they are to die for. While the sandwiches are delicious, the chef specials at lunch time are incredibly tasty. I had the steak and veggie quesadilla and keep asking for them to offer it regularly! They also have the best gazpacho is town. If you still have room for dessert after lunch, get a chocolate cupcake. Absolutely scrumptious! (Even if you dont have room, take it to go and eat it later!) The only downside is the sometimes long line during the lunch rush, but the friendly staff moves it right along. Keep up the awesome work, Appleton!

I have been here a number of times for coffee (hot and iced), muffins and cookies. The muffins are great, they offer a wide variety and some great healthier options. Their sandwiches look good as well as their breakfast menu. They have always been crowded when I have stopped in. I like their renovation but all the tables were filled the last two times I was here. I think its great that they have free Wi-fi here. I would love to come at a slower time and enjoy one of their sandwiches. I never knew about the Almond Milk option but cannot wait to try out an espresso drink with Almond Milk--I never find that!

OMG, I wish I lived in Boston. Id be in here every day. I bought 4 different types of their mini cookies. Moist and delicious! The hubby liked the oatmeal raisin that survived a 5 hour flight back to Cali.I wanted to take more but I didnt have room in my carry on sadness.Theres a wide variety of sweet and savory so take your time and look around. Its a large market and you can hang out on the patio and stuff your face full of cookies if you dont want crumbs in the car.

A neighborhood coffee and sandwich shop with free wifi in the South End, Appleton Cafe is a little pricey but a good place to sit and work. Ive had their muffins, soup, sandwiches and brownies - I keep coming back for the muffins and the soup. They have a quiet outdoor nook overlooks Dartmouth Street - a good spot for the summer months. The place is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

A solid place to grab a quick breakfast or take a seat and relax. Located in the south end, the cafe has a great variety of breakfast and lunch options. I went here on a Saturday morning and got the breakfast burrito. It took a little time, but when it came it was awesome. Compared to Flour, this place had much better prices and a lot more room to sit down without the crowd.

Very friendly staff and great food. The issue I typically have is the speed of service. As a smaller shop I always want to run in and out in 15 or so minutes but have had to wait in excess of 20 to 30 for a breakfast sandwich even when not very busy. This is also a great little spot to get some work done without the crazy branding and congestion of nearby Starbucks.

Very nice staff. Breakfast panini wasnt a panini. It was toast that was slightly too toasted and blackened. It sounded like the egg bacon cheese and arugula would be good but I could do better with a half-attempt at home. The pumpkin whoopee pie was good but there was something gritty like sand in 3 of my bites. Will I make an attempt to come back? Certainly not.

Excellent coffees with a better range of options and prices that most specialty coffee joints dont offer. The baked goods are particularly delicious, and after 11:00 they have some decent sandwiches on excellent bread. Theres a moderate amount of seating, about half outside on their patio where dogs are welcome. In a cafe-rich environment this one stands out.

Simply a cute little spot in the South End, and a welcome change to the usual Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts! They serve a mighty good misto and a wonderfully tart lemon bar! I dont know if they make the baked goods there but I hope so. The menu was filled with sandwiches and other typical cafe goodies -- they looked good so Ill have to give them a try next time.

Amazing breakfast burrito! How does this place fly under the radar? Just stopped in for a quick bite (never been here before even though Ive lived in the south end for 2years). Latte was good (but not the best Ive ever had), breakfast burrito was the best one Ive ever had, and service was fantastic. Great place for a quick breakfast :)

Long lines mean its worth it! Everything is pretty damn good, so get ready to spend the money! Everything is made on sight and smells heavenly. Get the lemon tart and the fruit tart... you wont regret it! Oh and the croissant ? Fresh and baked to perfection.

The egg and cheese breakfast sandwich was really nice. Being a vegetarian I was able to add some veggies to it. The sandwich was good size, adequately priced. Lots of room to sit. I gave four stars because they did not have mushrooms in their veggies!!

We are here with 3 friends . The service was very good and the food was delicious. We think the service and staffs are great- portions could be slightly bigger or at least they could serve more vegetables or chips...overall we will be back.

Why is there service so slow? They always have a ton of people working there, so why does it always take 15 minutes to get your food. I love the food, but its just not worth it most of the time.

Great coffee (try hazelnut, its even better than house blend), delicious cakes (and yes, the slices are twice bigger than in Starbucks!) and lots of hospitality from the stuff. Highly recommend!

The food was very good. The prices arent too bad for the area ($8/sandwich), but be prepared to wait about ten to fifteen minutes for your food depending on how busy they are.
