We went this week. The food was quite good. But the service was mediocre to poor. The prices were too high. And the environment was not pleasant. We had arrived later in evening and were told the loud music was to cater to the bar patrons. The bar is in the same large room as the dining area. After a couple of requests the manager turned down the music to a background level. Then we could hear the loud conversations of the bar patrons which included foul language even though we were seated on the other side of the room. Service, price/value and ambiance are important to us as is the food quality. So with so many great Mexican and Tex-Mex options in Silver Spring, why go back?

My wife and I went here at random to try it out. We ordered a pork burrito and chicken burrito. The pork burrito was filled with a very acidic tomato paste, but otherwise not seasoned. The chicken burrito was tasteless. We also ordered Chile con Queso (the cheese dip). This resembled the cheese dip you get in the small can at convenience stores--very "grainy" texture and an orange cheese. Real Queso at a Mexican restaurant is suppose to be creamy and white. I would not recommend going here. You are better off sticking with a chain restaurant. There were peppermints at the door when you left, and at least that got the taste out of your mouth.

Queso dip was watery cheese soup. Ordered Margheritas and they used table salt as a rim not Margherita salt. My meal was okay nothing to write home about. The worst thing about the whole experience was the service. We sat down and the staff kept walking by but no service for what felt like forever, but it was probably 10 minutes. We should have walked out but we liked Lapa Lapas so much we thought we would give it a try. Not worth the hassle... dont waste your money. Wish I had something better to say.

No one in the place and we waited a long long time for the food. It seems that none of their wait staff speak English as they tend to communicate in Spanish and hand signals. The place is clean and nice but the music too loud for conversation over dinner. The food is a favorite of my parents. I personally place as much value on being able to have prompt service and dinner conversation as I do good tasting food. Hence the 3 stars. Boy is it loud in here... like a night club.

First and foremost, the atmosphere was remarkable. Plenty of options on the menu, it was hard to choose but loved my meal (which was the pollo asado, my date had the tacos al carbon which we also incredible). Best thing we had was the Sangria! So good, it was hard not to have more (2 pitchers was more than enough). Look forward to coming back and trying something else on the menu.

We ordered brunch to go, 2 out of 6 orders were correct. Everything had tons of almost raw onion on it. I write this from the toilet because of terrible indigestion, no one is feeling well. Would not touch with a 10 foot pole.

Fantastic, Epic and Delicious Kenyan beef and mbuzi (goat) choma (roast) every Sunday. Spent the afternoon and evening with beautiful and interesting people with unforgettable lunch and dinner.
