Ambrosia saved my wedding. Here in Louisiana we have an incredible number of talented bakers. For my wedding I wanted both, and elaborate wedding cake, as well as a themed grooms cake, for my husband. I found an incredible cake artist who could not only make my custom cakes, which Ambrosia could have done as well, but was also able to make the cakes using one of my late mothers recipes. Unfortunately, due to a tragic accident a week before my wedding, my cake artist was admitted into the ICU. With 7 days until my nuptials, panic set in. I was crippled with anxiety, that is until I walked into Ambrosias doors, where upon entering I was greeted by a lovely woman holding a stack of binders. I held the door open for her, as she was proceding to walk out of the door to leave, still she asked if I needed any help, so she could direct me to the appropriate counter. I told her I needed emergent help with placing an order for a wedding cake. She told me she was the director in charge of the wedding cakes, and she was on her way out of the door, about to take leave for her vacation. Instead of turning me away, she lifted the rope that blocked off the wedding cake display room, and sat me down to discuss my needs, not knowing the extent of my situation. When I explained to her what happened to my cake artist, she immediately put my anxieties to rest, and we collaborated on 2 cakes that that could be made in time for my wedding. Although I was unable to get the themed cake I had originally planned for my groom, the tuxedo cake we decided on for him turned out incredible. My 3 tiered wedding cake turned out just as lovely. (Might I add my cakes had 150 servings, they were not small) My cake had impeccable buttercream work, smoother than any fondant cake I have seen, and my grooms chocolate ganache cake, with cream cheese and raspberry filling, surrounded by chocolate, marbled, strawberries was, honestly, the best cake I have ever eaten. The price for both cakes, rushed to be made in 6 days, came out to be cheaper than what I would have paid otherwise. I cant thank Ambrosia enough. A MILLION TIMES, THANK YOU!! I used Ambrosia again for my baby shower cake. I brought them an idea I found on Pinterest, for a rubber duckie cake. Although they had never made a cake like it before, they allowed me to bring in Piroulines and accommodated my request. That cake design is now on their website for replication, and just as with my wedding and grooms cake, was just as delicious as it was beautiful.

I WILL NEVER BUY FROM AMBROSIA BAKERY AGAIN. I ordered a birthday cake for my daughter. It was not done as the picture I had been shown. I left the bakery second guessing how I felt about the cake. I got home and decided to call and speak with them to see if there was anything we could do to fix it. I was even willing to pay for time spent fixing it though I never got a chance to tell them that because they hung up on my 4 times! I went up there in person and I totally see why the staff thinks it is okay to treat people that way because the store manage, Ed, has no better customer service training than anyone else. He treated me like I was a crazy person. I wish I could have video taped his handling of the situation because it would have appalled people. He NEVER apologized to me for how I had been treated which would have gone so far with me. Instead he told me all the reasons I was wrong. Their food is delicious, I have loved everything I have had there but I will NEVER go there again because it is not worth it. The way I was treated was beyond rude it was inhumane. Yes, they may have fixed my cake begrudgingly but the damage they did to how I thought that business operates is done. I will tell anyone and everyone to go somewhere else.

Ambrosia cakes are phenomal, no question. Ive purchased a strawberry cake for my spouses birthday every year for the past 10 years; its become a tradition. This year well be out of the country for his birthday, so my intention was to make sure he still has his birthday cake. Todays experience with their sales order team was terrible. They were flat out rude and seemed to care less about losing loyal business. I was told by one employee that shipping internationally was possible, another says it was not. No big deal, I can just take it with me. I asked could they package it the same way they do to ship, and Id pay extra for the container. After the salesperson rudely said that was impossible, I questioned how it was possible to prepare the cake for shipping but impossible to pickup the same package from the store. She turned to a coworker who said well charge you $40 for the box. Wow. A simple request handled a little differently would have shown that you actually appreciate people brining their business to you. My suggestion would be to find a smaller bakery that is more willing to accommodate small requests.

I went two weeks in advance to order my sons 1st birthday cake and cupcakes. I told them exactly how I wanted the cake and cupcakes done. I left them an invitation so they would get it perfect (design and color). By the way the invitation were in pastel colors. I get there, they open the first box which were cupcakes. My mouth dropped: The cupcakes were SOLID BRIGHT blue, green, yellow, and purple and they didnt have the designs on them.(it was like they had mardi gras colors left over so they decided to use them) I was upset but I told myself that it was just the cupcakes, maybe the cake will be better. :) WRONG.....They didnt do anything that I asked. Happy Birthday nor his name was on the cake. I was so upset that everything was ruined!! And to make things worse I get home and the cupcakes had fallen over in the box. FYI If you get cupcakes ask for the card-board holders not the plastic ones. When ordering a cake make sure you write the details down on a piece of paper, draw pictures yourself, whatever will help so your cake will turn out correct. On the upside the cake was good!!

My experience was not a good one. This place is very popular and most people like them and I get it. I liked them too until my wedding day. So lets back up to the cake tasting. I was torn between ambrosia and another company. The other company was not as costly, but the taste of the cake at ambrosia was slightly better to me although some in my family would argue that. So Im excited about the cake I know it will be beautiful and I am confident I will be satisfied especially since this place is talked about so much. Well at my wedding of course I taste the cake and it is not good at all. Clearly they had frozen that cake and then let it defrost. This totally changed the taste of the cake. It was heavy crummy and thick. The taste was not the same as it was for the cake tasting. I emailed them and no one responded as before they would respond right away. This was horrible and I was very disappointed. Oh, and I went home with that whole cake. TEARS!!! The one star was given because that is the only way I could post this. 0 stars!
