This was our first experience with China star and wont be ordering again. They dropped their menus in a pile inside the front door of our apt so we thought wed give them a shot. It took almost an hour to get here. Their crab Rangoon was very chewy almost seemed like it had been just sitting there for a long time. Ive had better at buffets. My husband got egg drop soup to which he normally loves but said it was super thick and not good. We ordered sesame chicken and governors chicken to split. The sesame chicken just was very tough and chewy. The sauce was okay but the chicken itself was not good. So after a few bites I asked my husband how the governors was without telling him my experience with the sesame and he said Eh its pretty tough kind of like cat maybe. (Joke but exact words) we also got the pu pu platter, the pot stickers were just awful really no way to put it. The egg rolls were delightful I actually would go just for the egg rolls which is why I gave them an extra star. Overall not a good experience. Not impressed. Probably wont go back but if you were starving it was at least edible.

Food was ok, nothing special. Very little portion for lunch as well. When it came time to check out, the only card I had on me was my rewards credit card. The lady proceeded to complain about how much she gets charged for rewards cards. She brings out her statement to show me how much. She said do you have another card or cash on you. No I dont I should be able to use whatever card I want. She was trying to make me pay for my card fee becaue she said she wouldnt make any money!! Raise your prices then, dont complain to me because its not my problem. She hardly greeted me when I came in as well. I would avoid this cheap unprofessional place!

I would leave 0 stars if it were permitted. A coworker and I ordered lunch via the Beyond Menu website for delivery. The food was great and it didnt take long to get here. However, the driver demanded a tip from the person who picked up the food. We added a $4.00 tip online when we were ordering. The owners or managers of this place need to be giving their delivery staff their tips but they also need to let delivery staff know that asking where their tip is also not okay.

The food is really tasty and fresh. Reasonable prices. The lunch and dinner entrees even include soup, an eggroll, and fried rice. The lady that answered the phone was very nice. She has an accent which makes it a little difficult to understand her sometimes but overall, very friendly. Plus, this place delivers even in pretty bad weather. Dont pay attention to the other reviews. This place has really good chinese food.

food was wonderful & the service quite pleasant. veggie lo mein was the best ive had in a while. serving was very generous. crab rangoons were excellent & the hot & sour soup was WONDERFUL. i had a take out order and it was ready in 15 minutes. price was reasonable... nothing but good things to say! i WILL be back -- happy to find a place now that Mandarin in beaverdale closed.

I eat at China Star multiple time a month and every time I go I have excellent food. I have never eaten a bad meal at China Star. And Mai (the owner) is a wonderful woman with a charming sense of humor. She always calls me by name and remembers my favorite dishes. The service is always friendly and prompt but I never feel rushed. Great place for an amazing dinner.

General chicken, the meat was dry and tough. It seemed like it was old meat that they re-fried so it would be hot when they gave it to me. Also cost $9, when I could have gone across the street to hy-vee and got the same thing for $6, except the meat would have been fresh. This was my first and last visit to China Star.

My fiancee & I love China Star! Great food, excellent service. The lady is very friendly & helpful, but can be a little hard to understand. If you had a bad experience, you probably were not looking for a good one. If you like good Chinese food, fast and friendly service, you will like China Star.

Food was good! Portion was not small and was very tasty. The service was great, we made an online order for a later time, the food was hot and ready and on time . Two meals were under $20 and was way to much for my son and I, we could have shared one. Certainly well be dining here again.

I feel like I have finally found the Chinese take out I have always been looking for! Delicious, fresh tasting food that doesnt leave you with a greasy feeling. Quick, friendly service at a nice price. Glad to have them in the area!

The food is average, the lady is very personable. Seems like she really takes the time to get to know her customers. I would recommend delivery, very efficient.

Used to eat here all the time but since new ownership portions are small. Egg rolls are about as big as my pinky. Very disappointing.

Chicken wings were dry and tough. Egg rolls, temporary shrimp were way over cooked. Still looking for that great Chinese Carryout.

She is very friendly, almost too friendly in that she asks a lot of personal questions. Great service and food.
