The atmosphere is the only thing positive about this restaurant. I had no opinion going in & was excited to try something new. I am not from the area, but visit frequently because of family. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who, after giving us the menu, didnt do much else. She didnt appear to know the menu well. I ordered a steak medium well that came out RARE. The waitress told us the cook was having a hard time & offered to replace the steak. I simply said no, mainly because I was disgusted, and asked for a dessert for my meal. Not only was this dessert not given to me for free, but she proceeded to charge me $6.00 for a "vegetable" plate of sides that were supposedly unlimited. On top of that, the cook who was so "stressed out" burned the bread and we never received any. I questioned the server and she refused to take the $6.00 off. When we went to pay our bill, we asked for a manager and the elderly woman/waitress taking our check told us no manager was on duty. Really? No one is in charge at a restaurant? Interesting. After a LONG argument, she took the $6.00 off, but continued to argue until we were literally walking out the door. She was very stand-offish and rude and we will NEVER return to this restaurant. The service and food was unacceptable and it still angers me months later. Its the worst customer service Ive ever received.

We bought a groupon online for the Hilltop restaurant and drove down from Indianapolis to have a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We both really enjoyed our meals. My wife had the grilled chicken and I had the white meat chicken, both were delicious. Our waitress, katie, was very professional and enthusiastic and helped make our first experience at the Hilltop very enjoyable. We had a corner table with a fabulous view of the heavily wooded hill upon which the restaurant is located. We have no problem in recommending this restaurant for an enjoyable relaxed dining experience.

We have been driving up to Indy to visit family for years and have passed this place probably a hundred times. We finally decided to stop in one evening on our way back. The best part, in my opinion, is the atmosphere and setting. It sits on top of a small hill (obviously) and is a few miles away from the nearest town. Very rustic and nice. The food was a bit disappointing, but it wasn’t bad. I would recommend it based on the location alone. We plan on going back in the near future.

Good family atmosphere. Very old-fashioned type of place. Good food. They say its just grandma used to make and thats about right. Beautiful scenery. They have some space for outdoor seating, but there doesnt seem to be any tables out there. It would be really neat if you could sit outside, plus it would give them more space to seat people. I have seen them turn people away because of how backed up and full they get. Either way, its a good place to eat and worth a visit.

We havent been there in years, but after reading in the HT, that Dennis and Chris Grubb purchased it this past May, my wife and I decides to check it out. We were not disappointed! Great atmosphere and food. The food is made from scratch and it shows. They have outdoor seating that overlooks beautiful scenery. Its definitely a good place to eat and worth the trip.

Great Family style restaurant! The Spencer Steak was perfectly prepared without an overpowering seasoning. Other entrees were well prepared and quickly consumed by my family. The staff was friendly and service was prompt - we never had to ask for anything. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation - especially the desert menu!

Great food and great value with a nice view. Its up on a tall hill by itself. Service was friendly and portions were huge. Only complaint is that it took a while to get our main course. Wed definitely come back next time were in the area.

Over priced canned food, no lie. friendly staff but not enough staff to handle the busy dinner rush. I wouldnt ever go out of my way to eat here. But if your passing by and you are absolutely starving it a decent place

My family has been coming here for many many years. The cost per plate is high for locals which is why we dont eat here regularly. We only go for special occasions. Family feel and very enjoyable but not inexpensive.

Great place with unique experience. They are under new management. New owners have owned it a year now they said. Food was delicious. Fried Chicken was great but ham was a little dull.
