I have visited the new Strawberry Fields 3 times in the past month and each experience has been a bit sad, but this morning was the saddest of them all. Upon driving up, the door on the cafe side was propped open but the sign on the stores doors said they were closed, yet their hours said they were opened. The lights were all turned off. I tried the doors and they were locked. I walked into the cafe, half expecting that the person at the counter would tell me that the store was closed, as each time I went into the store prior to this morning, there was never another customer. The person operating the cafe seemed a bit confused. I asked if the store was open, trying to assess if I could shop and was then asked "do you have a question?" I explained that the lights are off, doors locked, and the sign says they are supposed to be open. I was told I could shop and check out at the cafe. In the dark, I rummaged through the store to find the items I went in for. In the mean time, the back room behind the cheese counter, had several employees chatting it up, never turning to see that there was a customer, the lights were off and the doors locked. I found my items and went to the cafe to check out. The person at the cafe apologized for the stores amateur performance. He explained that this is not the first time this has happened. Outside of customer service issues, the prices are a bit high. Strawberry fields prices were always higher and for some items, I have been willing to pay the price, but Im afraid I am done shopping at Strawberry Fields and instead will support other local health food stores. The operation of the store is embarrassing. I dont expect this store to stay open with such high prices, disorganization, and poor customer service. As much as I wanted to see the store survive, it is an embarrassment to the name. I much prefer the co-op, Natural Gourmet, the farmers market, regular grocery stores, amazon, gardening or even fasting in comparison to the experiences Ive had at the new and not so improved strawberry fields.

This place is awesome, a vegan grocery galore! They sell many hard-to-find healthy foods. I always buy quinoa, nutritional yeast, granola, and nuts from them all of which is sold in bulk. Also, they have monthly deals where you can save a lot of money (clif bars for a dollar!). The employees are very friendly and helpful. This place is also perfect for those with food allergies, since they have many gluten-free items. Also, they have another section where they sell vitamins and such where an on staff nutritionist comes once a week. Finally, if you are a student be sure to also stop by on Wednesdays since it is student discount day!

We started off the Great Heatwave of 2013 right here. The line is long but moves fast with many people behind the counter who know what theyre doing. The guy who helped me seemed genuinely excited that we were about to have ice cream cones. Id trolly hate life and all people after scooping for a line like this one but the workers there seem to be really happy. In fact, this might be the only place in 95 degree IL where everyone is happy on both sides of the counter. Wish they had frozen yogurt but thatch just because Im lame. The ice cream is, because it is ice cream, wonderful.

Honestly, the grocery section is a little too pricey for me, but I love their yogurt selection. Also, the prepared food is wonderful and competitively priced. So far I have had their cupcakes and a brownie from their bakery, and I just went to their cafe/deli for dinner and got delicious chicken and rice for $5. I will gladly pay $5 dollars for a filling dinner that I do not have to cook. I am a huge fan of the co-op, but I think I can also find the time to become a regular at this place.

This store is, unfortunately, run by people who have a self-righteous attitude, without great performance to back it up. They may be enlightened and peaceful, yet are wholly ineffectual. I have tried several times to overlook their short comings, but I hate poor customer service. Got it both on special orders, and once the manager was very rude to me and my daughter. So glad to take my business to the other great store in town, Natural Gourmet.

I bought organic grapes and was very disappointed to find out that they were NOT ORGANIC at all but freshly soaked in herbicides/pesticides. I grew up in the vineyards and there is no easier task than telling this difference. Many yogurts that are found in other usual grocery stores are much cheaper than they are in Strawberry fields.

I go their for lunch at the cafe and its the best deal in town. They have good quality ingredients, homemade-style dishes (not fast food!), and something new to try every time. Plus, the price of their lunch is very competitive ($3 for something light, $5 to fill you up, and $7 to stuff you).

The times posted as to when they open should be followed by an ish. waited outside for 15 minutes after they were supposed to be open before finally driving off and going to the co-op instead. waste of time.

Kind personell, yummy vegetarian and carnivore foods. Sandwiches are about 6-7 $ and there are other tasty baked goods. (Expensive) organic foodstore directly next to cafe. Coffee refills are not free tho

This place is tea heaven. Apart from that, where else can you buy goods by the pound? That comes is really handy when it comes to baking! Also, friendly staff.

Soooo many options. Pastries, sauces, candy, fruit, frozen goods, everything. Very expensive, but its all very unique stuff you cant get anywhere around here.

This is a wonderful store with extremely friendly staff. Going here doesnt just feel like grocery shopping, it feels like connecting with the community.

Great deals on quality groceries and sometimes super discounted -- making it even more so affordable milk -- from Kilgus.

Since the new management took over, service has gone downhill. I still have high hopes, but they need to prove it first.

REALLY expensive, but a good selection. Like Fruitful Yield and Whole Foods crossed together.

appears to be upholding the spirit and practice of the previous owners, fun place to shop
