I have gone to Shallots every year pretty much for the past 9 years because the big radiology meeting is in Chicago every year after Thanksgiving, so I have seen the restaurant change over the years. This year I was blown away with the changes. If you havent been to Shallots since they changed chefs in the past year, then you havent seen what they have now on the menu. There is no comparison. The sushi is **AMAZING**!! I mean I have eaten the best sushi in the NYC area from Sushi Metsuyan, China Glatt and Prime Grill, (and Fumio in Livingston) and in my opinion this is at the absolute top, on par with the very best. I found it no more pricey than the best NYC restaurants, and well worth it. Service and ambience were lovely, a great place to bring business dinners. The rest of the meat menu looked tantalizing, but the sushi was so good and so varied I chose to eat only sushi. My friends steaks looked absolutely awesome, though. The spider sushi flambe was spectacular in both taste and presentation. The Japanese nachos were very tasty and interesting, unlike anything Ive ever tasted, and I am a fan of unique dishes. Desserts were great. Even the tea was great, the way they serve it in individual teapots which they refill. Hard to imagine a fancier menu than what they now have. I cant wait to go back. Used to be I could never get any kosher sushi in Chicago, now they have some of the best anywhere. Even if you are not a sushi lover like me, the meat and fish dishes are really varied and intricate, and impressive. This restaurant is not overpriced, it is on par with regular expensive restaurants and the quality far exceeds the price in my opinion. Go ahead and treat yourself once in a while, it is well worth it.

Pot holes in parking lot should have alerted us...we seemed to wait for drinks, appetizers, meal, dessert... even the BILL. This place is in Skokie but they think its Manhattan with their prices! We frequent restaurants often and judged this as the worst for value and taste. Shame on us for staying as we should have left after looking at the prices but we thought... this has to be BEYOND great so lets stick it out. $17 for a vodka tonic in a 6oz glass? We normally have 2 or 3 rounds but not at here. Basic fish in the mid/upper $30s of which included some type of onion/risotto/rice medley which didnt excite. Fish had bad texture, smell and taste... left most on the plate. Dessert & cappuccino... their clueless. Couldnt leave fast enough.

I was in Chicago for a conference and the organizers ordered a Kosher lunch from Shallots Bistro. They ordered the menu item "The Bomb" it was a pretzel bun filled with all sorts of deli meats and sauces. It was quite delicious, which is good because they ordered it 4 times that week! One of the evenings my wife and I went out to Shallots and we had a wonderful time, the steaks were expertly prepared and drinks were refreshing and the dessert quite interesting. Great place for a special night out.

Great sushi, and I recommend sticking to the bar menu. For the actual full blown entrées, anything that isnt very expensive tends to be very bad (e.g. $90 steak is amazing, but the $45 steak is soaked in sauce and is quite gross by any standard). In general, place is overpriced, but its definitely a nice joint with good atmosphere so at least you get some return for the premium. And you must check out the hilarious item description for the Del Monico steak (in the photos section for this location).

What a great Dining experience, the food is perfect and the service was out standing, we told the waiter that we are on the way to catch a flight and they served us very promptly, I also appreciate their portable chargers they loaned us while dining, we had Filet Mignon with grilled artichoke both were just perfect and juicy, I live in NYC and I would fly in just for the dining experience, I have to get some excuse for my business, SEE YOU AGAIN

WOW - that is all I can say. I was invited to this restaurant by a good friend, and I could not wait to try the food. The service was perfect, great atmosphere, and most importantly, some of the best sushi I have ever had. Beautifully, simply-prepared - perfect fish. I cant wait to come back!

Im from New York and Ive been to some good restaurants, but Ive never seen something like this! The food was divine, the service was phenomenal, and the atmosphere was just plain amazing! I would come back to Chicago just to be able to experience it again...

This is must go to spot for any meat, ribs, sushi and burger lovers! The sushi is the best I have had and the ribs are phenomenal. Definitely worth the drive from the Chicago metro areal
