Overflow Coffee Bar is all kinds of wrong. I say that with a smile on my face because clearly no one that offers a Nutella Mocha actually has your best interest in mind. How could they. The name alone is a sin because.. NUTELLA MOCHA! Talk about a sweet (but not too sweet) caffeinated creation that will keep you coming back for more. The regular coffee is decent too but their creative takes on coffee are probably what you should be going for since you can get a regular coffee anywhere. (Not to say the regular coffee is bad, it isnt, but it doesnt stand out as their custom creations do.) Food wise they have a decent mix of organic and healthy food that, wait for it, tastes good. (Dont worry pastry lovers they are a coffee shop. Youll have some unhealthy options here too.) Ive only been here a few times but if I still lived in the area Id be here at least once a week. If you work or live by here I highly suggest stopping in so youll be here quite often as well!

You may not notice this place as you wisk down state street but their coffee is so worth stopping. Overflow is situated within a community church but separate enough that you wouldnt really notice. They have a large seating area and its relatively quiet making it a good study space. My absolute FAVORITE coffee drink ever is the Overflow (aptly named, yeah?). Its coconut milk, hazelnut syrup, espresso and chocolate and its heavenly. You can get it spicy with a touch of cayenne (called LOverflow). They also serve sandwiches and pastries if youre hungry.

Great local place with relaxing vibes and without the hustle and tussle of large chain coffee shops. I primarily use this place as a study spot and it works well for that environment, there is tons of tables available. Having headphones does help if you dont like the music they play or get distracted by it. The drink selection has a decent variety, I tried the Nutella latte and would recommend it! Only negative I can say is that there were a number of small fruit flies inside that got kind of annoying on the summer day.

Great coffee in a comfortable setting? What more could you ask for? Friendly service, you say. They have that covered too. I especially like the Nutella Latte, when I’m wanting something different than a regular cup of joe, which is excellent. They serve fair trade coffee and like +Ken Dumas says, the owners do a lot to support the neighborhood, local businesses, and the “global village.” It’s a great community hub—they have an events board promoting local events—and the bathrooms are clean too!

Ive been commuting right past this storefront for months, somehow failing to realize it existed. Perhaps you have, too? More social hall than cafe (it also serves as an entrance to Loop Church), its modest interior is tasteful & the furniture is comfortable. The menu is brief, yet comprehensive; most importantly, the coffee is very fine & the croissant is possibly the best Ive had since Paris. Ill be back to try the quiche & hummus.

Stopped in yesterday and met Brandon, you can tell right away that he loves what he does. He was very interested in who I was, where I was from and what brought me into his shop. Oh, and while he was doing that, he also fixed me up a special that they had on their menu that day, which was delicious. Will be back frequently. Also as an added bonus, they take pride in responsible business practices and conservation (just ask him!)

I found my chocolate croissant to be very special, thank you! This is a lovely and spacious establishment which also serves as a focus of community involvement. They have an auditorium here to host community events. I also like the fact that they are members of Local First Chicago. If youd like to come down here from the Loop, its a pleasant walk or a short bus ride on the #29 to 16th Street. Its worth the trip!

I like their coffee and bakery selection. What I love about it is its a local place that supports local cause and the atmosphere shows. The manager and his team are very accommodating, warm, and inviting. The furniture arrangement can be better, so that it doesnt make you feel like you are sitting in the hallway between two office/conference spaces.

My friend and I came across the coffee bar while venturing back to the hotel. I it. Though I am fond of blended frozen coffee, I tried a hot mocha espresso with extra chocolate and fell in love. It was the perfect thing to help warm me up from the rain. If I am ever in Chicago again, I will definitely look them up again :).

This place is locally owned and the coffee they use is locally roasted (and theyre very proud of that). The staff are all very caring and friendly, the furniture is comfortable, and the atmosphere is open. I recommend this place to anyone that wants to just relax and read a book or even just get a little work done.

Overflow is the kindustry of coffee bar every neighborhood needs. Great coffee and tea selections, great snacks and pastries, and great people. It is spacious and comfortable with great chill music that is not at all disturbing. The owners are always present and pleasant! So glad Overflow is in the South Loop!

Looking fora coffee shop thats not chaotic, has a nice local feel to it, promotes organic foods and wellness? Go to Overflow. Its spacious so finding a seat is never a problem. Great place to have meetings, as Ive had many and the people working there are simple warm and friendly. Very environment friendly also.

I really like this location if youre looking for a quiet place to study or work. The chai tea lattes are delicious hot or cold. The tables are a little small if youre sharing with another person who also has a laptop. The outlets arent as plentiful as one might like but the pastries are very satisfying!

Best coffees & teas in Chicago. We try other places but keep coming back---we have been loyal customers for over five years now. We buy our whole beans here too! Overflows coffee turned my husband and me into coffee snobs! Also there are great food options for gluten free, dairy & soy sensitive folks.

Great coffee/convo from the Batista. They have free wifi which is pretty fast. Unfortunately, venue needs some serious upkeep. Furniture is ran down and dirty. Floor and surrounding area looks like its been neglected. I did see one employee wipe off tables. So best for take out.

Overflow is one of the only and best places in South Loop to go to work, meet with others, and enjoy great drinks! Its spacious, and provides lots of natural light. All of their teas can be made iced - perfect for summer! Their peach blossom tea is wonderful.

Wonderful, wonderful ... WONDERFUL! I dont know what the anonymous "A Google User" was talking about in their 2012 (bad) review. Ive been going here since they opened in 2007 and it has always been great. Great coffee, atmosphere, food, staff, owners ...
