Classic diner with the usual diner foods. It was very crowded when we went, but I can see why. You can tell by the way they talk to their guests that this is the type of place where if youre a regular you can just walk in and theyll remember your usual order. A place where youll be treated as a friend. I got a breakfast skillet, and was unable to finish the whole thing because of the very large portion, and ended up taking the rest home for dinner. The coffee was ok, nothing special. If you go and theres no table available, they have open seating at the back by the kitchen. Googles directions arent quite right when coming from the interstate, they tell you to go past it and then make a u-turn... Dont do that.

The staff was absolutely fantastic!!! So nice, attentive and helpful. The food was alright. We got a bread basket, one of the rolls was hard enough that you could have defended yourself with it. My glass of ice water had black things in the bottom of it. Staff was quick to bring a different one. I had a yogurt parfait that was very good. It came with banana bread, initially they forgot to bring it out. Again, they were quick to bring it out after I asked about it. But it was dry and hard and didnt taste quite right.

Before heading over to the outlet mall we stopped here for breakfast. We had a very short wait for a table to be set up for 5. The hash skillet I had was very good and my wife was happy with her spinach (and something) omelet. My daughters both had banana split waffles - what kid wouldnt love that. My son had a pancake off the kids menu that was too bit to finish. It was a little pricey but the portions were large and the customer service outstanding. I obviously recommend.

I liked it a lot. Great food. Ate there twice in one day. I had an early lunch and went back for dinner with friends. The french onion soup is so good I had it rather than the salad for first course both times.; Could not finish all that was served to me. Dont be discouraged by the price shown on the menu. You really do get get what you pay for. I could not finish even half the food served to me and I am a "full grown" southern boy. Two thumbs up for this diner.

Have been eating at Papa Bear for a long time. My favorite thing about them is the food portions. I am a big guy and can eat a LOT. I have never walked away with an empty stomach. Also, the decor used to be crappy, but now they started updating it with new booths and new colors. It is starting to look pretty good. The waitresses are always real nice to me. Never had a problem with service.

driver beware. If you have the 32oz cups we get at pilot or loves well this joker just charged me $7.52 to fill two of them up. I feel like Ive been raped! We spent $27 on our meals there yesterday. He just lost any other monies I would have spent there for the next two days Im here at the motel 6. And the food wasnt all that either. I will never go back.

When we moved to Illinois. This was the place to be, we moved away and came back. We are back at Papa Bear. We were impressed with the owner who remember us from 16 years prior and asked us about our little girl, whom is in grad school now and our mom. Always a great meal and friendly serve. Didnt change even after all these years.

Stopped in after the outlet mall. The food was AMAZING!!! I had the Chicken Parmesan and the girlfriend had the Gyro platter. The waitress was exceptional. Came back when we needed something but wasnt constantly bothersome. And she was so polite! Will definitely stop again when in the area. I highly recommend this place!!!

Love it here. Its become our regular restaurant. Food is better than Double Yolk. prices are better too. And the wait staff is awesome. They dont complain like the staff at DY does. TV is usually on CNN and not flashing a slideshow advertisement like DY does. Great daily specials too. Oh and the soup is always awesome.

So great we went back twice! Traditional,family run diner/restaurant with excellent service and superb cooks! Packed on both occasions and for good reason. Extensive menu and the choice is almost overwhelming but you arrive on empty and leave fully satisfied! Its the real deal and ill be back!

Amazing food. Great service. The manager is an awesome guy. My server was very polite. The food was ready in 10 to 15 minutes. It was bursting with flavor. I will definitely be back. Dont pass this place up. Stop and experience one of Chicagos greatest diners. Very few places like this left.

Ok, so I havent shaved in three days. Does that mean Im a degenerate? One of the guys there watched me like a hawk. Boy you should of seen the look on his face when I pulled out a large sum of cash when I paid the bill. The waitress was extremely nice.

Ive been coming here since i was a kid, and while its faced many changes, the atmosphere is still the same, the food is delicious, and the service is upstanding. If you ever want to go to a very lax diner with great food, this is the place!

Ive been coming here for years. In fact, I met my wife here. They just updated their menu and have new Cone Carved Gyros on the menu. I tried one today. AMAZING!!! By far the best Gyro Ive ever had.
