I went here with my parents last Friday night to try this place out. Our next door neighbor suggested this place to us. My mother went in first to check this place - see if it was just a takeout place or really a restaurant(clean). She liked it enough that we decided to eat there. They have very good sauces there. I especially liked the mustard - very similar to the Japanese green sauce(the word escape me). The waiter was quick in taking care of us and it was apparent the management wanted to create a favorable impression of their restaurant. My parents like the food we selected. I had beef and brochili(the meat was cooked and very good). My step father had sweet and sour pork(it was not in the menu but they offered to make it for him). My mother had some type of chicken course. They liked their meal as well as I did. We only care that out food taste good and not pontificate about food taste like wine tasters. I should mention each individual was given the choice of a bowl of fried, white, or brown rice(not usual at the average Chinese restaurant). We also tried their egg rolls which was very good - cooked in a very light oil, not the heavy kind which I do not like. Overall, I was satisfied enough to eat here again in the future. I had read the reviews here before going but was willing to give them a shot. I did not get the impressions of some of the reviews while I was there(discourteous management) or seeing any food problems(uncooked meat). I generally do not make reviews of restaurant but felt obligated to do so based on most of the bad reviews. I hope they continue to be there.

I have eaten here a bunch, more than 20 times. Its right next to my house. Their food tastes good, no doubt. When its warm. And just served. If you take it home, and refrigerate it, it is no bueno. The sauces all separate, and it just does not taste good. Which makes me kind of suspect of the quality of ingredients they use. I suspect there is a lot of MSG happening here. Also, if you want to confuse them, order some of their currys. I order their curry frequently and its never the same thing twice. The sauces are always different, and you cant tell if you got a red curry, or massaman. If you dine it, their wait staff is a little odd. They will refill your drink after a single sip. Which, ok, thanks for being attentive, but maybe back off just a bit. Finally, this place is pricey for what it is. Two people, tip and all, 25 bucks is reasonable. But you can get two entrees and tip and its 35 bucks. Too much in my opinion. If you want great Asian, for a reasonable price and they deliver in the same areas, lookup Red Elephant Thai. Its not Chinese, but its delicious, and for 22 bucks you can get high quality food delivered to your door for you and another. Hong Kong Star is just "ok" in my book.

Best decor, food, and anything in general of any chinese restaurant in atlanta. Large pieces of real, fresh meat (big pieces of white meat in chicken dishes, etc). None of the typical bad chinese takeout vibes. Everything tastes incredibly fresh. We have eaten here probably 50 times, and weve never been disappointed. Their version of the classic dish, general tsos, is awesome. Huge pieces of real chicken and flavorful sauce. Every sauce is flavorful, unlike many bland sauces at other chinese restaurants. Eat here today! And in response to the 3 star review below: You are stupid. The food was not as good when refrigerated? Sauces separated? Thats natural and expected... How in the name of hell does that have anything to do with MSG? Tip: It doesnt.

I ordered from this place for delivery. A fairly simple order, just three common items dumplings, sesame chicken, and general tsos chicken. It took and hour and 15min to get to my apartment.... its 6 miles away. Then they deliver it and half the order is missing. No problem Ill just call them. They direct me to a manager and I ask them to just resend it. Another hour goes by. I call again and they say it should be 15-20min and the delivery should be there. I wait another half hour and still nothing. Worst service I have ever received anywhere. I do not recommend this place unless you want to go hungry. Tha KS for the 3 hour ordeal, Ill never order from here again.

Outstanding service and food. Best Chinese restaurant weve been to since moving to the Atlanta area in 2006. Its pretty and clean inside. Our waiter asked what we were looking for and recommended dishes not on the menu. Then he stayed when the food was serviced and waited for us to taste the food to be sure we liked it. And we LOVED it. We like spicy food, but most restaurants make it spicy and too sweet. Our waiter understood that we didnt want the sweet version and offered us true Chinese style instead of the more Americanized version. We will definitely go back and cant recommend it highly enough.

We had the pleasure of eating at Hong Kong Star last night (February 6, 2016) where we were entertained by the Chinese New Year celebration. Fireworks, dragons dancing, children dressed in beautiful Chinese clothing, beating Chinese drums...we saw it all last night and it was delightful! We have been eating at Hong Kong Star since it opened; usually be "Take-Out" but more recently we have been enjoying our delicious food at the restaurant because quite frankly the restaurant is beautiful. There could not possibly be a better place to enjoy Chinese food in East Cobb. We recommend it!

My experience at Hong Kong Star was amazingly good!!! My first time going there was yesterday with my boyfriend on 11/16/15, and as of now it will not be my last time! We ordered Egg Rolls, Wonton Soup (Me), Egg Drop Soup (Him), General Tso Chicken, and Shrimp Fried Rice. All was delicious!!! I really appreciated that they were not skimpy when it came to chicken of the General Tso Chicken. Its large chunks of chicken, and not just mainly bread, and not cut into thin pieces. I really appreciated that! Im looking forward to going back soon!

Dont waste your time! The waitress acted like she was doing us a favor, asked her three things about the menu and she had to leave to ask the manager each time. Their wine "special" was buy one glass of wine for $17 and get the next glass half price, really??? Brought out the wrong order for my son and he was too hungry to even think about sending it back. Use to be a decent place but I will have no need to go back after this experience. Oh, they only had three tables at 6:30 on a Tuesday night.
