This was a place we decided on for our most recent anniversary dinner. Its about 25-30 miles from our home. Both of us like Indian food, generally, but this was the best. The variety and complexity of the flavors in the soup, the appetizers, and the dinner were amazing. The portion sizes were more than enough; even a little food came home with us. We both got the medium-spicy curry, along with some onion and mango chutney to go with our meals. It seems difficult to imagine that the taste of any single element of our meal could be improved upon. The decor was very nice, and the music was Indian music of various sorts, but it was in the background and not demanding your attention...some places have various pop/rock songs turned so loud it seems like youve shown up at a concert. Or maybe theyre trying to pacify the employees with mind-numbing music. Not this place; it is very pleasant and quiet. The service was the best weve ever experienced. There was never a moment we lacked anything. They seemed to do a server-by-committee type approach, with numerous fellows making their way to our table and making sure we were taken care of. One or two of these fellows may be the proprietors, I think. But there was one thing we took away that just made this the most blessed dinner yet for us as a young family. We have a 9-month old, and children that age are usually more accepted rather than welcomed in restaurants. We try to be respectful of other patrons and keep him occupied and quiet, but he will make sounds and such at times. We certainly dont just let him sit and scream or anything. But at the Amrit Palace, it was just shocking how much they not only tolerated our little boy, but really had fun trying to make him laugh and play with him. He was picked up a few different times. They would have at him as he curiously watched them as they walked by on their business. This made what was already a great experience with the food and service just the best. Not just the best Indian restaurant weve had, but the best restaurant experience, period. They delighted in having us there, 9-month-old and all. This is truly a family-friendly restaurant. Were on a budget, so eating out anywhere is not something we can do every week, but this is one place well be making it a priority to visit as were in Ocala and the schedule and budget allows.

This was my second time at this restaurant. First time we went thee for lunch really enjoyed it. Went there again in the evening with some guests were really disappointed with service and owners attitude. Ordered appetizers and drinks with one person, after a little while ordered dinner with another person also drinks. Dinner arrived at the table in 5 minutes but no drinks. Person who brought dinner table was the owner himself and didnt even care that the drinks were not brought to the table after being ordered. No napkins on the table. At the end to make our dinner experience really memorable was when I bit on a metal wire. Confronted the waiter who apologized & told the owner. At this point we just had it as there was no one to check with us how was the dinner or if we needed anything else. No one even came to fill water after serving the first time. Waiter arrived at the table with 2 gulab jamuns to compensate for the metal wire that was in our dinner. Owner didnt even have courtesy to come up to the table and apologize for the incident whereas he just sat at a booth with some paper work and drinking his beer. I just paid and left. Waiter stated to me that they have been at the restaurant since 11:00am & thats why there service was so poor when the restaurant was not even busy. ABSOLUTELY NOT ACCEPTABLE. THIS DEFINITELY WAS OUR LAST TIME AT AMRIT PALACE. ABSOLUTELY A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.

Its the worst behavior that I have never seen from the one who is welcoming the new customers to the restaurant. I have had a bad welcoming and strongly racism situation of an Indian employee who has met us at the cashier desk. Unfortunately, after long trip by car due to Irma hurricane, I decided to stop with my family at Ocala in order to find an Indian restaurant and to have the lunch meal. So, we found that restaurant which was working at the evening time around 04:45 P.M. After we arrived and get in the restaurant, a bad guy who has met us asked whether we are four people, or not, even thought he has seen that we are four people. Therefore, he said "follow me and he has not ever say any kind word as the kindly people at the respectful restaurant staff do. Although we have followed him to the table that he chose it for us, he has thrown the food menu on the table and left us behind him with no any attention. Its really a ridiculous behavior of a racism man. Thus, actually what I did. I decided to leave the restaurant as soon as possible because those kind of people I must not pay for them even a penny unless they learn how to welcome the people before they sell their food. Respecting people is the best and worth way in order to earn the hearts of people through the successful business.

I have been enjoying the great food from this restaurant for nearly 7 years. Every time I dine here Ive enjoyed the food. I have tried a few other Indian restaurants, but none has compared to Amrit Palace. I am excited for the new Amrit Palace location to be opening soon at 3415 S.W. College Road Ocala, FL 34474. If you havent ate Indian cuisine before Id recommend trying it during lunch hours first and order your dishes "mild" if you dont tolerate spicy foods well. My lunch favorites are Chicken Curry, Chicken Tandoori, and Keema Egg Matar which include soup and the wonderful fresh nan bread (I use the nan for getting the last bit of flavorful curry sauce off the plate). Favorite appetizers are Cheese Pakora and Madras Fried Shrimp, but you cant go wrong with the Variety Tray if youd like to sample most appetizers. For dinner the Seikh Kebab, Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Biryani, and Panir Masala are my favorites. I would recommend trying this place soon, plus Indian cuisine is healthy for you. Everything Ive tried to date has left my taste buds dancing for more.

We took my granddaughter out for her 22 birthday and gave her the choice of places to go. Since she had never eaten Indian food, she chose Amrit. There were 8 of us in the group with 2 children. First I am not a fan of Indian food, so maybe you should consider that. There was no childs menu, so 8 and 11 year olds had to pay full price for food that was not made for children in the first place. I, not liking curry, chose to get the "Chilli Chicken", as it was not a curry dish. Everyone else chose the chicken or shrimp curry in varying degrees of heat. The chicken tasted a little weird from my dish, so everyone else tasted it and decided that it tasted like some kind of kitchen cleaner. The bill came to $150.00 for a family night out, with half of the group ordering drinks, and the other half drinking only water. After 12 hours in the bathroom last night and this morning, I have decided that maybe I HATE Indian food. My husband was sick, but not as sick as me. Needless to say, I will NOT be going back to Amrit Palace in Ocala, Florida in this lifetime.
