Im in DC a lot and I really gave this place a few chances would eat lunch there 3 times a week always hit or miss. To many mistakes on my orders.Also there coffee is not that could and would charge me $2.95 to fill my reusable coffee cup I brought in. Starbucks a few block charges $1.95 7/11 charges $1.00 and the cupcake store {next door} $1.50 and all have much better coffee than Spring Hill. But it would also depend on who was working the counter there rates differ by whos working. Another charge is for a cup of ice. You order a full lunch and get a bottles soda from there cooler that does not cool and ask for a cup of ice and your charged .50 for the ice. I called the owner [Katherine Rurka] she said there should be no charge for ice and would tale care of that and work on some of the other issue we spoke of. Two month latter still charge .50 for ice and still mistakes in orders. I called again to give a update as she asked but no return call. So Im moving on to the other fine restaurant with in that area

Amazing freshly-baked bread here, and you can get sandwiches for breakfast/lunch as well that do not disappoint. The only negative part of my visit was that they had 4 employees in the store, and when the customer ahead of me had a question that the cashier didnt know the answer to, she walked to the back and held a pow-wow with the other 3 employees to discuss it, while a huge line of additional customers formed behind me. It would have been trivial for even just one of them to come man the register and start processing other customers orders while the others tried to resolve the initial request. This might not be a regular thing, but it was a bit silly. Ill definitely still go back assuming it was just a one-off.

Im here every so often to beat the heat when waiting to go to work. Some mornings, theres a women working the front (light brown hair and glasses) who is super welcoming, excited, and provides awesome customer service. She also always gives me free samples. Other times Im here and the service is less than cordial, more passive. Its mixed depending on the person. But the food is always pretty good and reasonably priced.

The food is awesome. We get bread there every week, and the rosemary shortbread is fantastic. Their egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches are done well, including the salt and pepper they add. The eggs seem to be cooked on a stove rather than a microwave. The sweets are typically very good as well. I highly recommend this. Additionally, the wait staff is very friendly and helpful!

I walked in to a delicious smell of fresh breads of sweets. Everything was to die for. I had the Pesto Asiago, absolutely delicious as well as there chocolate chip cookies. Everything I have had is the best. Bread is best bread I have ever tasted. My new daily stop on way to work. Overall best bakery!

The Multi grain bread was really good but they served the avocado (as an add on for my turkey sandwich) still unripe. Seemed that they didnt know what it should be like. The place is really good though for a lazy Sunday brunch if you want to enjoy fresh homestyle bread..

Fantastic bread and pastries! My wife and I loved their apple streusel bread so much from a previous visit to DC, that we went out of our way to get it again on a 2nd trip. The cinnamon twirl bread is great too!

Nice bakery that makes sandwiches to order, a few savoury parties and dessert items such as cakes, slices and cookies. The bread was a touch too sweet for me so advise people should be cost with their orders.

I go here on the weekends after rowing at the waterfront. Its very good. If they have the Roasted Red Pepper Gouda Bisque, you should give it a try! Yum!
