I stumbled upon Ice Cream Jubilee through a Feastly event. They had a feasters tasting party today and owner Victoria Lai talked about her journey with Ice Cream Jubilee and the flavors. I sampled two ice cream flavors - honey lemon lavender and Thai iced tea - and two sorbet flavors - ginger peach kombucha and coconut lychee lime. My favorites out of the four were Thai iced tea and ginger peach kombucha. I also tried the dark and stormy, which is candied ginger and Goslings dark rum, and Id recommend it. I like that its not overpowering and you get the subtle hints of rum. Victoria also brought out some other super secret flavors to sample. Ice Cream Jubilee recently opened in the Yards Park neighborhood of Southeast DC, right next to one of my favorite restaurants, Osteria Morini. The Yards Park neighborhood has been undergoing renovation and the facelift is noticeably better and different than what it was before. Ice Cream Jubilee is a nice, little addition to the other various restaurants and services in this neighborhood. Ice Cream Jubilees flavors are made with butterfat and they use local ingredients such as cream from South Mountain Creamery and they use a small batch technique so the ice cream is fresh. In addition to the aforementioned flavors I tried, there are many other flavors such as gin and tonic, banana bourbon caramel, caramel popcorn, grapefruit campari, and more! I enjoyed listening to Victoria and how she started Ice Cream Jubilee, the trials and tribulations that come with entrepreneurship and starting/running a small business, and applaud her for chasing after a passion and dream after many years in the corporate world. She says she thinks about ice cream all the time, so Im sure well see plenty of other unique flavors as time passes. Congratulations on the opening and thanks for a great feasters tasting!

The ice cream is very tasty. The value for your dollar is what subtracted 2 of the 3 other stars. If this was just about the ice cream it would have gotten a 3. Its good but honestly I wouldnt go out of my way for it. The most outstanding thing about my experience is hands down how small the cups and cones were. I got a cup and a waffle cone. My gf got a waffle cone. The cone was huge. Same as most places would serve. The scoop was so small I had to break most of the cone off just to get my first bite. It was one tiny scoop in this cavern. Cones should have ice cream piled on top. At the price point they charge it should be piled on here also. The cup? I swear I thought they were handing me a sample. Im not kidding. When she started ringing it up I looked around and realized these were actually the cups everyone had and I proceeded to pay 15 bucks for maybe a quarter pint in total for all three servings. Quarter pints btw are what cups are in most ice cream places and are one serving. Here it would make three! So I turned and asked my gf if there was some world wide shortage on ice cream I wasnt aware of? We laughed and we left. We parked across the street and by the time I got to the car the two bites aka the cup were already gone. Wont go back. Edited a few minutes later...I just read other reviews but more importantly the owner responses. I give you kudos for being involved and attentive. That alone change it from wont go back to might if im in the area. The place was fine other than the value and trust me altough it wanst much there was no chance any was left cause it was yummy. Worth giving it a shot if youre reading. Maybe im just cheap;)

Since I was implicitly accused of making stuff up in my previous review and the owner explicitly said my review was because I was turned down for a job (and not heaven forbid because they need to work on customer service over at Ice Cream Jubilee), I have decided to amend my review. While it doesnt make up for waiting around 2.5 hours for an interview, being told I am completely unexperienced when the interviewer finally showed up (so then why interview me and at least I am experienced enough to show up on time, and call Uber if needed?), receiving the job rejection email that said they decided not to hire me (vs. the usual tactful "we decided to hire another candidate")--I am very appreciative that Ice Cream Jubilees hiring manager didnt hire me and told me a Jenis store was going to open up by their T St. store in the interview. The Jenis staff is also glad to have me over there for the job I was turned down here for. And I am enjoying more Jenis flavors than what is available at Whole Foods, in an ice cream that tastes better than Ice Cream Jubilees ice cream in my opinion. So since it is going so well at Jenis and I owe it all to Ice Cream Jubilees hiring manager, I have decided to change my review from 1 to 2 stars.

This is a great ice cream shop. MANY flavors, and many of them are very unique. Theres a good balance of very creative flavors, and also flavors that still have a classic touch to them (you can still find options for a chocolate craving, for instance, without them being exclusively limited to those with flowers and such). Over the summer, the line is long, but its not absurd and the wait gives you plenty of time to choose flavors. They are happy to provide you some flavor tastings. They have the best waffle cone I have ever experienced. It is freshly done, and thin and incredible. Definitely get a waffle cone (even if you ask for it in a bowl... you must experience the cone). The development of the area where Ice Cream Jubilee is is very neat. Good uses of space, and the great food choices are all located quite close to each other, as well as to Yards Park and the water and water-front trail.

DELICIOUS frozen confections. since it was National Ice Cream Day, I decided to splurge and have 4 kid scoops - gin & tonic, honey lemon lavender, basil goat cheese and blueberry pie. I loved them all except the gin & tonic. it is true to its name and is like drinking pure gin and I was quickly reminded why I dont drink gin. if youre a gin drinker, this is for you. the blueberry pie didnt impress me when I sampled it but I gave it a try anyway. Im glad I did. its definitely a flavor that needs to be experienced in full scoop. and you get more chunks of pie crust in a scoop. the basil goat cheese is savory and oddly delicious but only if you like basil (and I do) as the herb is the star of the scoop. the honey lemon lavender is heaven in a scoop - light flowery tangy flavor and creamy texture. treat yourself to some Jubilee today.

I make it a habit to stop by and indulge in the new flavors that always pop up. Its so convenient because its right around the corner from me. I usually have a good experience with the staff, they are usually super friendly. However, today I seemed to get the one lady with an attitude. She started rolling her eyes and asked me to reiterate my order (rudely) as if I was not clear enough. She then kept making faces as she was scooping out my ice cream, then rolled her eyes when I answered my phone to confirm my fiancés order. It took no more than five seconds. As we neared the cash register I continued to receive attitude as if she was pulling teeth to assist me. The ice cream is delicious, but Id prefer not to receive this kind of service.
