Nestled in the new "Fashion Center" shopping area around the Christiana Mall, this restaurant is a happening, modern take on the tried and true burger joint. Walking in on a busy Friday night, you are first greeted with a line out the door. Not enough space to handle a queue of more than 5 small groups of 2-3 people before hitting the entryway. In Delawares frigid winters, this is an unwelcomed sight. I saw at least one group of people leave when they saw the line. In fact, my wife and I debated on even going in. The line did move quickly enough though. The menu selection was various burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, shakes (obviously), and a full selection of beers and wine. They also offered dog bones, evidently the place is pet friendly. We ordered burgers, fries, and a lemonade. The burgers were thin, cheesy, and pretty tasty. Fries were crispy and lightly salted. Lemonade was fresh squeezed (I think). I gave three stars mainly because of the prices. The food was good overall, but simply not enough for the price. A meal for two people at a place like this should not cost $26 (thats how much ours was). No way, we arent at an airport.

No better review than a previous employee. DO NOT EAT HERE! I quit because that place is so dirty. People wash off their shoes in the sink where dishes are being washed. If they drop a spatula or other cooking equipment on the floor they just take it to the back, dump it in cold dirty water and go back to cooking with it. Trust me I was there since opening and theyve done nothing about this. At the end of the night is the worst time to go. They close everything down and serve whatever cold food and melted milkshakes they want. 90% of the employees are constantly using their cell phones and not changing their gloves after. We get complaints from customers and they do nothing. Barely anyone washes their hands before putting gloves back on and I even got yelled at for doing it because "its not necessary ". The grill person isnt supposed to touch anything but the raw patties but most of them touch the cheese as well. A lot of arguments between employees happen way too often. Its just the least sanitary place to eat at. Plenty of other food places around so dont waste your money here.

They do not offer kids meal options. The prices were OUTRAGEOUS. The portion size for what you are paying is absolutely crazy. You have to buy the burger and fries or w.e you want separate a no meal options. We ordered our food and the cashier Dionna read it back to us correctly. We get to our table and realize the order was entered wrong and she only put in for 2 burgers and not 3. I went back to inform her there was a mistake and she didnt apologize and acted like I gave her the order wrong. We paid $3 for fries that were kid portioned and nothing spectacular. We got the most basic hamburger (because the prices were crazy) which tasted good but for $7..no. For our shake which was $6 was also kid portioned. Crazy prices, not so friendly staff, and small portions. Basically unless youre rich dont brake the bank coming here! For 2 adults and 1 kid (3 basic hamburgers, fry, 1 shake) we spent $27 bucks! We will definitely not be back unless the prices go down and portions go up.

The burgers are on the small side but actually quite good. Served with an attitude though. I hope they get some people who can act like professional adults in there instead of children. Cashier was slow and barely listened to what we were saying. Waited about 30 minutes after ordering, then they ignored me after I gave them my buzzer. When they gave the next customer his food and I said excuse me, but could you please stop slapping each other on the butts (looked like the manager who was doing it too) and pay attention to your customers they just rolled their eyes and laughed me. By the time I finally managed to get the burgers, mine was wrong. Shouldve know. Anyways, wont go back for a long while, hopefully that staff will have a good turn over. Until then, not worth being treated like that when you are a paying customer.

Shake shack is a very upscale albeit cost prohibitive fast food place. Its got great interior design making it a place you enjoy visiting and spending time in despite the fact that its likely crowded. But to make that visit, you have to buy $8+ burgers that really arent that are comparable to a less expensive place like Five Guys. They do offer a few more options to go with the burgers, namely the ice cream/shakes, but thats also $5-6 soft serve. Which still tastes good, but is it worth it especially for the price? Basically, youre paying just under what you would have paid at an actual restaurant to hang out in a place thats more hip than similar fast food.

Overall subpar experience. Prices were high and the food didnt live up to the hype or cost. Our order was messed up, missing a burger that we ordered. They repeated the order back to us, yet somehow that didnt match the receipt. We had to go reorder our additional burger. The cashier had an attitude when pointing out the error. Our ordered arrived quickly, yet came out lacking the toppings ordered Overall the meal was forgettable. They lack a kids meal and offer you to order it ala carte. If you did this a kids meal would cost you ~$10 for burger/fries/drink. The shake we ordered was good, but again expensive for the size you get.

I liked the layout of the building and the environment. The food tasted good, but the price for the quantity was ridiculous. For 4 burgers and 4 drinks I paid $36. I thought that since I was paying this price that the burgers would be a decent size, they are not... 5 guys burgers are bigger for the same cost. The drinks themselves were $2.35 for a small, and it reminded me of a medium drink size at a fast food chain. While the large was $2.85, and was not much bigger than the small. I was disappointed. Sure the burgers were good, but the price and quantity has me never wanting to go back.

As a new yorker, Im a loyal shake shack fan and was so pleased to stumble upon this location. Good food and even better, awesome service. I came alone with my dog and knew shake shack was dog friendly but wasnt sure how to handle the logistics of ordering (dog had to stay outside but whats an owner to do when alone?). Jared, the manager came out to meet me, took my order and delivered it outside to us. All with a Puccini for my pup.and staff came out to check on us.talk about dog friendly! Service Doesnt get any better than this for dogs and their humans!

The food was good. I enjoyed the chick n shack and the BBQ bacon cheese fries. My kids had the smoked shack burger, fries and milkshakes. They all agreed it was a really good meal. The employees up front taking orders were nice and polite. Its a small space though, so for a family of six it took some maneuvering to have us sit a bit comfortably together. But when it gets warm enough to sit outside it wont be a huge deal cause the tables are bigger out there.
