We have tried other pizza places in the area, but none have come close to Giovannis. We always get the same thing every place we go, a large pizza with everything on it, and Giovannis pie was outstanding! The pizza was loaded with mozzarella and just the perfect amount of peppers, onions, pepperoni, sausage etc. The crisp, thin crust tasted as if it had been made on the premises, but we are not certain. It was delicious all the same. The only thing we needed was a bit of salt, as Giovannis chefs seem to make the pizza with less salt than we have been used to. The grinders (submarine sandwiches) there are amazing as well. Besides a long list of Italian delights, the menu has plenty of other options (most notably Seafood and American cuisine). It is quite easy to find something to excite the palettes of everyone in your party. And, best of all, the prices are extremely reasonable for the portions Giovannis serve. Unfortunately, we generally find the staff to be a bit rude and abrupt on the telephone. It might be that they have a lot of customers and are too busy to be nice. I can honestly say their collective attitude is a real turn off, but we still keep coming back for the great food.

Although I did not witness the making of the pie it appears to me this is a Greek style or pan pie. I personally prefer a thin hand tossed pie but I found this one to be acceptable. I ordered out a cheese with half pepperoni. The pepperoni was thin sliced and spicy and not overwhelming. The crust was airy and the pie had a good weight to it. I recommend indulging in this pizza when it is hot or the cheese will follow you off the pie in the first bight. The price was good and the waitress was pleasant. I would recommend this pie to all but the hard core New Haven pizza goers.

Came here late on a Friday night after a full day at Six Flags. The restaurant side was very quiet, we were only 1 of 2 tables. Nonetheless, the waitress was very friendly, cheery and quick! Shortly after we ordered the bars Friday night DJ started playing some throwback hits. It was loud and the waitress apologized but we enjoyed it! The food was great- We ordered mozzarella sticks and a pepperoni pizza. Both delicious! Not too fancy inside, just some cool old photos on the wall. We will definitely be back.

They took an hour to deliver my pizza and then got it wrong so when I called back they said they would send me another one but I have to send the one that I have back completely full not touched which is fine except for that I had A2 year old and A3 year old screaming for pizza now at this point........ AND NOW IT HAS BEEN ANOTHER HOUR STILL WAITING ON THE PIZZA KIDS R PASSED BED TIME!

Delivery only. Fries were soggy. Missed something on the order. Didnt even ask for my credit card over the phone so we had to work it all out in a frenzy at the hotel door. Food was mediocre, salmon was dry. Ill try someplace else next time and if I do try this place again, I will try for something simple like pizza.

Great Meat Lovers Pizza. Nice bar to belly up to. The Greek salad was very good. The draft beer selection was okay. The prices are good. Very clean bar and restroom. Found a pool table in the back. Sweet. Friendly and attentive barkeep.

Really disappointed. I bought a large chicken parmesan grinder and something is wrong with the chicken.. its very difficult to bite into it.. almost like its all cartilage. Its grossed me out and I cant eat not another bite.

Order veal Parm dinner to take home. Live less than a mile away. The plastic cover cracked on the side and there were pieces of plastic all in the food! Second time this happened! Looks like we will go to Jims from now on.

Have never actually been to the establishment, but order delivery all the time. I LOVE the shrimp fra diavlo and aglio e olio. Have tried other dishes and never been disappointed, but those are my favs.

Food and service was horrible. I had shrimp scampi. The sauce was awful. The waitress never came by to ask if she could get me anything . Never again

Family owned place that serves good food with generous portions & if ever you have a problem they will fix it right away we come here pretty regularly
