I drive past this place some nights on the way home from work and decided to stop in over the weekend with my wife and our two girls. The building and ambiance intrigued me. Originally from England, taverns tend to be more reminiscent of our "pubs". The interior was nice with a cozy fireplace. The staff were extremely pleasant and many of the patrons seemed to be elderly regulars as the owner/wait staff personally greeted and bid farewell to most of them. The reason for the 3 stars and what soured the experience was the food. Very mediocre. My wife and I had a class of wine, two sandwiches and our girls had pasta. I opted for the steak and pepper sandwich and my wife the chicken. I was anticipating real steak with a sort of pepper sauce, but it looked and tasted more like a side of beef thinly sliced or something youd buy from a deli-counter with pepper sprinkled on it and some melted cheese. My wife also tried the Crème Brûlée for dessert and the usually hard caramel topping was soggy, pretty much reflecting the quality of the food. After eating recently at Luces in Meriden we enjoyed more food and more wine for not much more money and the quality of food/ingredients was leaps and bounds above todays food. To sum up; the food at Long Ridge Tavern is mediocre to OK? But for the price, felt it didnt compare to other places weve eaten. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant, just the food lets the place down really.

If I had to scream one more time at a Happy Hour at Barcelona, I think my head would literally spin. So away from downtown Stamford and its Eurotrash I went and what I found was an authentic tavern/pub on long ridge road where I could actually hear myself think. Definately a place to bring co-workers or a date because the sarcastic bartender will entertain you even if your date is not. See Stu Monday - Thursday from 4-7 for reasonable appetizers and special martinis. Get a Cosmo the way its supposed to be made and a generous portion of fried shrimp (Ladies, real men dont like Tapas) And if you are on a date, Stu will tell you how its going, if it will work or what youre doing wrong better than Patti Stanger from Bravos Millionaire Matchmaker.

They have now raised their prices too high. We live down the road and used to go quite often. I cant recommend the Tavern anymore. They have hit hard times and like too many others pass the problem on to their customers. Raising prices drives away business and slaps loyalty in the face. However, the atmosphere is very nice. The staff is hit and miss. We have held two large gatherings 20+ people and on both occasions the service was tremendously lacking. When its just 1-4 people its much better. The food is always good. Its just too bad the prices arent in line with the restaurant.

SERVICE GREAT, BUT FOOD WAS TERRIBLE. CHICKEN WAS OVER COOKED AND BURNT. SEAFOOD MEDLEY SEEMED LIKE IT WAS SAT TOO LONG UNDER HEAT LAMP AND PASTA WAS CLUMPY/STUCK TOGETHER IN ADDITION TO THE SEAFOOD BEING RUBBERY. HIGHLY DISAPOINTED AFTER SEEING ALL THE POSITIVE REVIEWS. WAS FAR FROM WHAT WAS EXPECTED. THEY EVEN TRIED TO CHARGE US FOR THE BURNT CHICKEN SAYING WE HAD EATEN IT (WHICH WE HADNT), ONLY AFTER REFUSING TO PAY FOR THE DISH DID THEY TAKE IT OFF THE BILL. SO ANNOYED AS I WAS EXPECTING A NICE NIGHT OUT WITH GREAT FOOD. THE ENTERTAINMENT DIDNT DISAPOINT, THE LIVE BAND WAS GREAT!!

I really wish I could like this place more. This is a downward trending three star. Service is hit or miss. The food fluctuates from not bad/ok to just not good. The burgers fall into the not bad category so usually only come for that as well as their main selling point for me other than being close by, they have Guinness on tap. So I occasionally patronize, have a Guinness before and during the burger but really hope they get a new chef. This place would be a HIT if they would just have better food. Fingers crossed.

Went here with my family for thanksgiving. Service was so slow and waited for over 1 and 1/2 hour for food to come be served. Despite making a complaint to the owner since we had 4 children who were waiting to eat, I was told I was not nice and had too much to drink. This was after the table only ordered 1 bottle of wine for 5 adults. Clearly this restaurant is not a restaurant I would recommend to anyone. If you want bad service and bad food this is the place to go to! Absolutely horrible!!!

The setting is cozy and welcoming with high beamed ceilings and a roaring fire in winter. Sunday brunch offers lots of yummy options and live music. And dinners are consistently good. Have visited with big and small groups and the service can be somewhat slow, but generally its fine. On the plus side, unlike many restaurants, they never rush you and allow you to savor your meal. I recommend the homemade butternut squash soup with a dollop of cream in winter. It is exceptional!

I go to the Long Ridge a few times a year, usually on open-mic nights for the music. The waitstaff are nice enough. But they seem to be overworked or unsatisfied. The wait for service is inconsistent. Sometimes they are attentive, sometimes not so much. The food is consistently good. I like their salads and the entrees are always pretty good. But it is a tavern, and, alas, the food just isnt as great as I want it to be. The decor is delightful.

The Bartender Maria gave horrible service and just could not be bothered with socializing of any kind. She totally ignored two simple requests for onions on my salad and salt & pepper and not once did she ask how our food was. The word bitchy comes to mind. The only saving Grace was the food from the kitchen near closing time. Will NOT SIT AT THE BAR again with her service!

The service here is great. The food is delicious and the portions are reasonable. The chicken pot pie is amazing as are their desserts! I love the feel of the building and surrounding area. If you have the opportunity to eat here, you should!!

I felt the waitstaff was accustomed to dealing with a rude and inconsiderate customers base. They treated us well, but it seemed their attentiveness was based on fear rather than respect. Very strange indeed. Food was tasty and well prepared.

If youre looking for a relaxed atmosphere and outstanding comfort food, then this is the place. Live music on the weekends is ok, but the bands and set lists skew toward an older, mellower crowd. Brunch on Sundays is excellent.

Nothing better than sitting outside eating and having a frozen drink. We had a business party there, cocktails and finger food. Our bartender did a good job, I was very pleased. My group will be coming back in July.

Zagat food score is wrong, Id give it a 22-23! Try the filet mignon or baby back ribs! We come once a month for the music of Sister Sun. Great food & fun!

Fantastic menu. Friendly and helpful waitstaff. I keep going back for the fliet in the wine reduction sauce while my friend lives for the Chicken pot pie.
