This was a tough rating to assign. As far as their product (ice cream), it is nothing short of amazing. It has a quality textures, the ingredients are fresh and flavorful, and the price is reasonable. The staff is friendly, though you can generally expect a time of about 5-8 minutes from entering the line to walking away with your ice cream due to the high volume of customers they serve. The only other complaint I have is the mosquitoes. All seating is outdoors, and there is not a single visit that has not resulted in our family not being bitten. I understand mosquitoes are naturally occurring, and ultimately I bring this up as if this were an indoor facility that had swarms of flying insects, I would factor that in. If there was not seating, implying it was pickup to go only, I would factor that out. They do have around a dozen picnic tables to enjoy your ice cream with your family. Plan to use insect repellent. On a side note, they have restrooms available, but they are portables. If one (or their children) are picky, be advised. TL;DR: 5 Stars for top quality ice cream; -1 for insects. Note: Restrooms are portables.

Overall we have loved this place over the years. The quality ingredients have been inconsistent over the past couple of years. Sometimes you will get what you asked, then other times, if you ask for rum raisin etc, you get vanilla mostly with a couple of the ingredients you wanted. The flavor and chunky pieces you go there for are not always found. If you want Reese inside your ice cream and you get 2 flecks of chocolate, you tend to be sad. I brought visitors here and we all got limited flavor and chunks. I paid a hefty price, around 17 dollars for 3 cones and the scoops themselves were smallish too. If it was cheaper, I wouldnt say as much. Total bummer for my summer :(

Today I called Salem Valley Farms Ice Cream to confirm the information provided by another reviewer about Guar Gum being used as an ingredient. The man who answered the phone told me that the ice cream is based on a mix that contains various ingredients and is not a 100% natural based cream product. The confirmation of this information really saddens me. I would prefer an all natural organic based product made from traditional wholesome ingredients. I guess my search for a local traditionally made wholesome summer treat will continue.

Service and pricing okay. Ice cream was good but Ive had much better. Waffle cone was good. They did have a lot of flavors but I didnt see any as being unique. I had cow tracks and there was very little peanut butter in it so i was disappointed. I also had banana Walnut which was great no artificial banana flavoring here. Pistachio was good as well as the mint chocolate chip. Cookies and cream did have lots of cookies.

I have the pleasure of having this ice cream at least twice a year. I wish it to be more but its close to where we go camping, but nowhere near my house. Theres always a bunch of people there when I go, and Im able get my dogs a pup cup so they dont feel left out. Lots of flavors to choose from and the ice cream is smooth and creamy. This place is worth every trip.

The ice cream at Salem Valley Farms might just be my favorite ice cream in the entire area exclamation point it is always a treat to go get ice cream at Salem Valley Farms... We dont go very often though because for two adults and two children its going to run you about $22 if you get just ice cream cones or cups. In my opinion though, it is worth every penny

Delicious fresh-tasting ice cream made on the premises with a big array of flavors. I had the Peanut Butter flavored ice cream with Reeses Pieces and some Butter Pecan, both were very tasty. Helped my niece finish off the big mound of Mint Chocolate Chip from her cone as well. Well worth the stop if you are in the area. They have to-go pints as well.

We have gone to Salem farms for many years now. We dont go as often as we would like because we live a distance away, but this past weekend we went. My small cappuccino fudge crunch was $4.25 and it was much smaller than usual, and to top it off, there were hardly any pieces of chocolate crunch. Dont think well be going back too often.

This is a summertime favorite. Delicious ice cream in many flavors. They also offer options such as lower fat and no added sugar. They have sorbet and frozen yogurt. You can get a hand packed quart of your favorite to take home. And you can get ice cream for your dog, served with a dog biscuit, so everyone goes home happy :)

So many flavors of delicious ice cream! The prices are good and selection is even better. They only accept cash, but there is an ATM onsite. No inside seating although they do offer a few picnic tables with umbrellas. A great treat right off Route 2 and on your way to to or from the Shore or Casinos.

The best ice cream in the state! They make their own from local dairy. Non dairy options as well as sherbet, sorbet & frozen yogurt. You will never find a better milkshake. Staggering amount of flavors and an ATM at the counter. Plenty of picnic tables and even bathrooms.

Some of the best ice cream in CT! Homemade and many unique flavors. The line moves fast and plenty of outdoor seating. They even have hula hoops for kids to play with. The only down side is that they only accept cash, although there is an ATM on sight.

The perfect ice cream stand. With a large selection of ice cream to choose from, fast service and wonderful aesthetics. I got a small banana split (it was still huge). If youre hankering for some ice cream and youre in the area, look no further .

Seriously the BEST icecream Ive ever had. Ben & Jerrys got NOTHIN on them! We visited this place on our way to/from The Devils Hopyard where we went hiking. The service is friendly. Its a tad pricey but SO worth it! I find myself craving it :)

Clearly freshly made ice cream, not overly sweet, and the sizes are very good for the prices. The prices look high at first but when you get your ice cream you realize you get way more than at most other ice creameries.

Excellent ice cream! The ice cream is made there, and well worth the drive. Route 11 in Salem ends less than a half mile away. Perfect stop going to or coming from Devils Hopyard or Gillette Castle.

Took the kids here for a treat: two small cones came to over $7. Pricey? Yes. Worth it? No. Maybe it would be worth it if their ice cream didnt contain fillers such as Guar Gum.

Best ice cream! Went today as a treat after taking a big certification exam in Hartford. Nice stop if travelling on Route 11...its right at the end of the off ramp.
