I was just there today. Food was Terrible. Not for Japanese. It is more for American style japanese. Also, I asked to share their special which was $9.95. The waitress waived down the manager who told us we need to buy something over $10 !!! because its $5 minimum per person !!! Gee whizzzz a bit $ 0.05 cents ??!!!!!! I almost laughed. Is this how they do business, to make me buy something because I am short 5 CENTS ???! so lame, and so greedy. Where is the flexibility? I ate there many times, tipped good, AND NOW, over 5 Cents ! So, I felt I had to order another item, and I did even when Im not hungry enough to eat it all. Secondly, I was (unfortunately) sat at the end of the high counter where I can view the entire working kitchen where 1 Japanese guy, and 2 Mexican guys made up the team to prepare food going out.... To be brutally frank, The 2 guys eyed me because they wanted to check if I was watching them. Watching for what you ask??.. Well, as I did watch in detail, I noticed their complete disregard for sanitation, sneezing into their hands, using the single towel to wipe EVERYTHING then touching the food to put onto plates and bowls alike... They sweat, they wipe their sweat across their forehead and back to work they go with bare hands !! They take in dirty dishes, and back to work at preparing the next dish/bowl as they grab food with bare hands again and throw into the plate/bowls. IT WAS TOTALLY GROSS to say the least. I looked around. No customers looked nor were aware. This kitchen is absolutely not managed in regard to cleanliness. Germs are cross contaminated and that was just what I observed within the 10 minutes waiting for my noodle bowl. Taste is your own opinion. I am sharing what I clearly saw as absolutely disgusting. PLEASE TRAIN OR FIRE YOUR HELP. IF you do go here, try watching their methods of making food, sanitation, and cross contamination. Please watch. Please.

*** In Short *** Just another okay ramen joint. *** In Depth *** I was in the South Bay, and when youre in the South Bay, you try ramen. Why? Because SF ramen is less than stellar. Unfortunately, the popular ramen shops that Id yet to try were closed that day, so, at the behest of my friend who frequents Kahoo, we came here instead. Ordered myself a kotteri ramen, and, I mean, it was okay. Decent flavors, okay noodles, alright broth. Nothing spectacular, but nothing as low quality as, say, Katana-ya. The soft-boiled egg was cooked just about right, but seasoned to be sweeter than I like. If I lived in the area, Id probably, try it again. Absolutely not a place Id trek down from SF for though. ***Accessibility Info*** Venue - A little on the smaller side, with some inaccessible bar seating, and regular height tabletops of varying (in)accessibility. In other words, the tables were too close together to sit normally, so for the most part, youll have to pull in to the end of a table. Bathroom - Didnt try them.

Ive frequented this place for years now. My favorite ramen here is the Tan Tan Men. Here, the broth is not some kind of tonkotsu base with a hint of sesame. Their version is thick, saucy, spicy, chock full of sesame flavor, and is sure to stick to your ribs! It is perfect for winter but hard to appreciate in the summer (the place does not have air conditioning). Karaage chicken is another go-to of mine, with a side of hot sauce (extra charge). I love this place but consistency is lacking. e.g. Depending on who is cooking that day, the Tan Tan Men can vary in terms thick or how intensely sesame it is. Also, their egg is almost hard boiled and served as one half. I like soft boiled oozy eggs with my ramen :( Im still giving this place 4 stars because it has dishes that are non-traditional but delicious, and worth making a trip for. Lines are very long at peak hours, so be ready to wait. Bring comfortable shoes, something to read, or make sure your electronic devices are charged up!

For several years, this little restaurant provided the most outstanding authentic ramen experience available in the valley. Unfortunately, Kahoo has abandoned their art in favor of cheap and rapid turnover with the quality of the food suffering the most. I would normally devour the Koteri Miso ramen, but what they served today was not worthy of a pig trough. I am fairly certain either the pork or the cabbage had spoiled, because there was an extremely sour and rancid overtone. Additionally, I didnt receive what I ordered, and when I explained this to the waiter, I found he could not have been less interested. He made no effort whatsoever to address my concern. My fault for not completely sending it back to get what actually ordered. I just paid and left it unfinished. Two thumbs down. Not going back. What a shame. I used to love this place.

Ill give it 3 stars for seating us quickly for being such a small spot. The day we went their credit card machine was down so they were only accepting cash, no biggie, theres an ATM at the liquor store in the strip mall. My husband and I were excited since we were sitting at the bar and we get to see the kitchen staff prepare the food. Its tasty... love the soft boiled egg... better than Genki Ramens over boiled egg, Service was courteous and fast. I got the Kokumaru ramen and hubby got Kotteri Miso.. I think (ate there a few months ago). Unfortunately... hubby watched as one of the guys in the kitchen was trying to hide that he was sprinkling something into the broth... all I have to say is we had major headaches after we ate there (MSG allergy). We wont be back.

We have been here already twice based on the recommendation of a Japanese massage therapist. The key to avoiding the long wait is to go around 2-3pm during the weekend. Luckily on our first visit one Sunday, we got there 10 minutes before it opened. It is definitely small with several closely arranged tables and a bar that seats about 10. We ordered the Chicken Karagee, Shio, Kotteri Miso (garlicky) and Kokumaro Shoyu. The fried chicken was quite bland. The Shio had a simple, light broth. The Char Shu pork in the Kotteri Miso was a thick cut unlike the thin slices at most other ramen places. The Kokumaro has a soy sauce-based broth with sliced pork instead of the Char Shu, which would have made it a tastier soup.

When your brothers new girlfriend brings you both all the way to san francisco insisting this ramen place in japantown is the best ramen restuarant in california, nod your head kindly in response, but always remember kahoo. Remember their snug homey setting, the gentle, flavorful shio soup, the tender, fall-apart, buttery bbq pork, delicate soft-boiled egg, and delicious takoyaki. Remember that you ate the entire bowl and were completely contented and happy. And that 10 buckaroos were not nearly as much as youd give this bowl of ramen. Service was nice and very polite. Always remember kahoo, the best ramen place in cali.

Its a small spot, only 30 occupants. We were looking for a ramen place, we got one! Appetizers were great (black pepper chicken, and yakitori) of our group, two of us got noodle- less ramen, while the other got shouyo ramen. Soup base is amazing, eggs were cooked wonderfully, pork was amazingly tender! Menma (bamboo shoots) were overcooked, most of the other vegetables added a crunch. According to the eater of noodles, they werent cooked very well (but they also have a bias to a ramen shop we used to frequent)
