I normally dont write reveiws unless something is really outstanding, or just simply apalling. Unfortunately my experiance with Yen Chings today was seriously terrible. I remember that this place couldnt be beat ten years ago, so I decided to grab two lunch specials for my Fiance and I. Where to begin! The Won-Tons were bread only, stale, and rubbery. The eggroll couldnt even be classified as edible. It was like month old veggies wrapped in a grease soaked paper towel. We both had a chicken dish. Garlic chicken and Cashew. The sauce was fairly tastey. It had a lot of chicken. Unfortunately it looked like the pieces are left over pieces from a packing plant. Fried rice is usually fried. You cant take steamed rice, mix it with peas and carrots to get friend rice. Thats steamed rice with peas and carrots. All in all, this place used to be the best in town, it has certainly slipped to being near the bottom. I wouldnt recommend this resturaunt to anyone. Keep in mind this was only the lunch specials. Its possible that the Dinner menu is a little tastier, but I would not bet money on it.

I have being going there for some time - Always ordering $30-$45 of take-out. They always get my order wrong. If I order a side order of fried rice they wont give me the steamed rice thats supposed to come with the regular entree. CHEAP!!! Also, how can they called it fried rice when its white steamed rice with peas and carrots thrown in? How is that stir-fried?? Today was the final straw! I ordered three different dishes, and an extra order of egg rolls. How can you mess up an order of egg rolls??? Well, they did (gave me fried won-tons, and when I called them to complain. The "gentleman" for lack of a better word was rude and told me that I told him I spoke clearly and said fried won-tons. Obviously, he didnt hear clearly because egg roll sounds nothing like won-tons. Last time I go there... Anyone know of a good chinese place in Orange, that knows how to treat their customers right?

If you want excellent Chinese food, youve come to the right place. Ive never had a bad dish at this place... however if you go back to the old saying you get what you pay for that also holds true at this establishment. Although the food ranks among the best Chinese food Ive ever had, it also ranks right at the top of the most expensive. When ordering family style, at first the price per person may scare you off a bit, they throw in a lot of extra, unexpected surprises during the course of the meal. My suggestion: if you want to try Yen Ching on a budget, they offer very reasonable lunch specials which are much more inline with their competition. This place is determinately a winner. An expensive winner but a winner none the less.

One of the worst lunches Ive had in years. Do not plan on going back. Ever. And I really do try to see the good in places that have been in business this long. The "paper wrapped chicken" that came with the lunch special was so gross I had to spit it out. For some reason the egg drop soup has gross peas in it. Nothing tasted very fresh. The only good part of the meal was the potsticker, singular, that came with the lunch special. The service was friendly, but food comes first, and Yen Ching must be Chinese for awful food.

I dont normally like Chinese food, but my fiancee thought this would be a good place for a date. Started with the assorted appetizers which were good. We got the yen ching chicken, which was amazing. And the chicken fried rice, which was also good. The waiter was very attentive and kept bringing us free food. First she gave us mu shu chicken. It was ok--probably better as a lunch item. Them she gave us the carmelized apple, which was very sweet. Id recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We live out of state but visit occasionally. Every trip to Orange County MUST include dinner out to Yen Ching. It is simply the best Chinese food anywhere. The fried rice is so delicate and literally melts in your mouth. And the service is top notch. Such friendly staff. They make you feel like you are the only ones in the restaurant. We love it!

Ive been coming here for something like 25 years. It is our familys Christmas Eve tradition and weve never missed a meal. Lots of variety. Food is good. And the service is always great and they are flexibile with our requests. The parking situation is not great. On busy nights the lot fills up fast.

Best Chinese food in town. Go here for lunch quite often. It is great how the lunch specials come with side items like soup, egg roll, dumpling, candied apple slice, etc. Very good and would recommend it to anyone who likes your American style Chinese food restaurant.

Great tasting chinese food.Large portions .Love their Kung Pao chicken. The candied apple dessert is awesome. The only gripe is the trend of not including rice with the meals. Why are asian restaurants charging for this when it used to not be that way ?

Am a fan of the orange chicken myself. Could use a little less breading, but I still fancy it. My wife prefers the same. Service can be slow if you hit it at the wrong time, but is usually swift. We like to come here every once in a while.

Really great chinese food! The portions are enough for 3 ppl to 1 plate at least. They bring out the food and actually serve you the 1st helping! No other place under $50 a person have I ever seen that. Great Cream Cheese Wantons!!!

Perhaps we ordered the wrong thing, but $17.00 for mushi pork is ridiculous, coupled with the fact that is was served with a tortilla and had so much scrambled egg, it could have passed for a breakfast burrito! Ill NEVER be back!

This is a great gem. The soups are the best. Service is fast, and the place is large! Some personal faves are sweet and sour soup, noodle soup (during lunch), chow mien, any of the vegetables, and honey walnut soup.
