Chasing after 3 children under the age of 5 builds up a HUGE appetite after a couple of hours and boy was I famished. So when I walked into Ikes I could already smell all the goodness it has to offer. I ended up buying a Matt Cain and a Bella (its called something else on the menu). What the young gentleman explained about the menu was each Ikes had their own "special" menu, granted there were some sandwiches which goes across the board with all Ikes places. For two sandwiches on dutch crunch rolls came out to $22, $11 per sandwich is a little bit pricey. My friend had the Bella and I the Matt Cain. Whoever Matt Cain is/was, thank you for existing, later I did find out Matt Cain is player for the SF Giants; go figure. The Godfather sauce with the roast beef. . . OMG!! It was saucy and succulent and then came in the dutch crunch. This bread MADE the sandwich, it was crunchy and then soft and then there were parts where it sopped up the sauce. . . ahh! *drool* Ikes is found all over the bay, this particular one was nice. It took a good minute or two or 5 more or less to get my sandwiches. If it wasnt so pricey I would give it 5 stars. Ikes is enjoyable when youre not on a budget or when you are starving. Awesome sandwiches that comes with a price. =/

I was very excited to try Ikes, with its reputation of tasty vegetarian sandwiches. Tried the vegi meatball sub, listed on the menu as vegi meatballs, marinara and cheese. Was offered to add lettuce and tomato - um, on a vegi meatball sub? No thanks. Got home and gave it a try. There some kind of mayo on it - disgusting! Couldnt take another bite and tossed the whole thing.

Today, Ikes sold me a ham sandwich for $13, that is $7 anywhere else. . The only special request Id made was to leave off the aioli. But they didnt. They put it on. Someone should let Ike know that its not Copenhagen in the 1980s or Argentina in the 1970s. This place is colossally overpriced and there is NOTHING special about the sandwiches.

I do love Ikes, but its not cheap. Four sandwiches, three bags of chips and two sodas, $55. With that bit of bad news out of the way, Im happy to report the sandwiches are top notch, the staff super helpful and they are some of the most creative sandwiches around. Lots of vegetarian options, not so much for the gluten-free vegetarian.

Might be the slowest service Ive ever seen, and the place is frequently closed when the hours say its open. Sandwiches are OK though.
