Corner Bakery food is yummy! I always get the Carbonara and the soups are pretty good is well. But this review isnt about the food, but more about the excellent service that I experienced at this location. As a parent of a child with severe food allergies, it is sometimes hard to find restaurants that can be accommodating. Now I understand that not all restaurants can be accommodating to food allergies, so by accommodating, I mean actually making an effort to show me that you actually care about what I am asking you in regards to the ingredients in the food. There have been countless times where I ask employees about whether a particular allergen is in an item and they say to me "I think so". When you are dealing with a potential trip to the emergency room or a shot of an epi-pen for your child, I think you can see the problem with such a vague answer. But when my family and I went to this location last night, we were very pleased with our cashier, Danny. She was very, very nice and when my wife was explaining to her my sons allergies, she was very attentive. She wasnt sure off the top of her head if the allergens were in the item we were asking about. But instead of playing dumb or simply saying "I think so", she handled it with professionalism and whipped out a book behind the counter that had the allergens list. She looked at it and said that my son should be fine, but then gave us the book so that we can double check. While we were checking the book, a very impatient lady came in and saw that we were still ordering and there was only one register open. The lady looks at Danny and says "Is there no other register open?" with kind of an attitude. Danny just smiles at her and says "Ill be right with you, mam". She didnt try to rush us and was very patient while we were looking over this allergen list, which I thought was very nice of her. So we ordered my son the Mac and Cheese and went on our way. But the service didnt stop there. As we were walking away, I heard Danny mention to her cooks that our order contained an allergy sensitivity. She told her cooks to change their gloves and make sure nothing else comes in contact with my sons food. I thought that was a really great attention to detail. Not only that, but about 5-10 minutes after we got our food, Danny came over again to check in on us to make sure everything was okay. The thoughtfulness and genuine care that she had for us was very impressive. So Danny, if you are reading this, THANK YOU. You are the type of person that I wish was at every restaurant and you blew us away with your professionalism and attention to detail. And management if you are reading this, give her a raise, gift card, or a paid day off. She truly deserves it!

I was very disappointed with my experience at the Corner Bakery Cafe in Northridge. So I order from the "Choose Any Two" menu. When I get to the restaurant to pick up my order I notice there is no garlic bread which was included when I had ordered the same dish at other Corner Bakerys. I ask the woman at the register about it and she tells me garlic bread does not come with the pasta dish the you are ordering from the "Choose Any Two" menu. I tell her that when I asked over the phone before placing my order they said it would be a full order of pasta which I had assumed came with the traditional side of garlic toast. I asked if she could ask her manager if, since I had them leave out the meatballs that normally comes with this dish, if I could substitute the meatballs for a side of garlic toast? When the gal returned she told me that the manager, Jada was the managers name so as not to confuse her with any of the other managers there, she told her no I could not do that. Mind you this is a small piece of garlic bread that usually comes with this dish no bigger than the size of my hand. I stand 56 with average size hands so we are not talking about a very big portion of garlic toast. I have worked in restaurants for over 20 years and I could not believe this manager refused to make this small accommodation. The piece of garlic bread could not have cost the company more than 10 cents and Im sure the meatballs I had them leave out cost more than that. On top of that when I got home I discovered my order of pasta looked like only half an order and hardly had any pasta sauce on it so I had to go back out to the store to get some more pasta sauce to put on my pasta dish. I dont think this is a very effective way for the manager to win and keep customers. I guess this particular manager doesn’t really care.

Just to start off, I worked at Corner Bakery Encino for about four years. We always had our little issues here and there, but the staff and myself always tried to make it a pleasant dining experience when it came to timeliness, courtesy, and quality food. I was sadly disappointed with Corner Bakery Northridge. For one, it took 21 minutes for our food to come out. I had to tell the manager before anyone even noticed. When the food arrived, the salad I upgraded to was not on the plate, the Mac and Cheese I ordered did not have the bacon that I requested, my girlfriend did not receive her muffin that she ordered, and the food was also quite cold. When anything of this sort happened at my store, my managers and staff were trained to be extremely apologetic and we would even usually offer a free pastry or coupon for the inconvenience. The manager seemed to have no remorse for that whatsoever. Also, the girl at the counter was quite rude and did not know how to split an order onto two cards (which I know can be done since I did it countless times when I worked there). Overall, I was highly dissatisfied with the whole experience at this Corner Bakery and will definitely never be returning again.

Absolutely disgusting. The entire restaurant was filthy. There were only seven tables with customers at 6:30pm. The staff was too busy talking to work. The food was good like the other CBs. Not a comfortable environment to enjoy food. We asked to have a table cleaned and they walked over the trash on the floor to our table and then walked over the trash back to continue talking with the others. We asked if there was a manager working because of how messy the restaurant was and were told "yes". Its 7:00pm now and still tables with the same dishes there since we got here. Pretty sad because we usually enjoy the cool atmosphere of the Corner Bakery chain.
