Juice Cleanse is made with Ion Vodka, Scrappy’s Firewater Bitters, lemon, ginger syrup, and cayenne pepper. If you remember back in the early 2000’s, there was a lemon detox diet drink that was all the rage and tasted like lemonade with a spicy chile pepper kick. Well, Stag Bar has brought this back, but transformed it into a fancy libation. The vodka is apparent but not overwhelming. The lemon and ginger refresh the palate as the cayenne pepper gives your tongue and lips a spicy kick. Rating: 5/5 Meatball Skillet ($8) is your choice of house-grind, chicken balls, or stag balls topped with your choice of grandma’s marinara or herb cream sauce and choice of mozzarella, ricotta, or provolone. I went with the stag balls topped with grandma’s marinara, and mozzarella cheese. The meatballs are meaty and juicy with a tasty flavor from the mix of venison and pork. The marinara is sweet and slightly spicy, but it would be nice to have a little more for dipping. The cheese is creamy and gooey. Rating: 4/5 Abe Froman “The Sausage King of Chicago” Pizza ($8 for 8” / $16 for $16”) is hand-tossed crust topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, sausage, fennel, and leek. I had to get this pizza on name alone since I am a HUGE John Hughes film fan and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is one of my favorites. It is “saucy” like the Sausage King of Chicago. The pizza has a good mix of toppings from the sausage, creamy mozzarella, zesty flavor from the sauce, and herbaceous flavor from the fennel and leeks. The pizza is more Neapolitan-style with a bubbly crust versus a Chicago deep-dish pie. Rating: 5/5 French Fries ($3) can be ordered regular or tossed in garlic parmesan. Of course I had to get the garlic-parm. Their fries taste very different with a flavor reminiscent of mashed potatoes, but are super crispy on the outside. The garlic parmesan is a great flavor for fries but needs more garlic, at least for me. Rating: 3/5 Sweet Chili Wings ($7) is something a little different than I am used to. When I think sweet chili sauce, I think of a light sauce with sweetness and chili flakes suspended in the sauce. This sauce reminded me more of a mole as it was very dark and caramelized. The chicken wings themselves are juicy and tender. I might try the buffalo wings next time. Rating: 3/5 Meatball Slider ($3 each) is your choice of house grind, chicken balls, or stag balls topped with your choice of grandma’s marinara or herb cream sauce and choice of mozzarella, ricotta, or provolone. I went with house grind balls, herb cream sauce, and provolone. The bread makes it much more filling than just the balls alone. The house grind balls are meaty and juicy. The cream sauce and provolone work great together. Rating: 4/5

Extremely, extremely disappointed with the two pizzas we ordered. Neither measured 8 inches. My pizza was actually only 6 inches. Based on the online photos and all the reviews, I expected decent food. THE WEBSITE PHOTOS ARE DECEIVING. We called in and ordered the Diavola and the Abe Froman Sausage King for take-out. At the door we were forced to show IDs just to pick up our food. The person on the phone did not ask if I was 21 when I ordered, so Im not sure if I would have been able to pick up my food if I didnt have my license on me. Then they werent able to locate our order and, after awkwardly waiting for a while, we were sent from the kitchen to deal with the bartenders in order to locate our food. When we got home, we opened up our boxes to find some of the WORST pizza weve ever had. So disappointing, especially for the price. Instead of gourmet pizza, we spent $20 on Pizza Hut quality food. Dont waste your money on the pizzas here. Ill never be back.

Originally known as Stag Bar but then known as The District for a period of time, this establishment has once again reclaimed itself as the Stag Bar. The good is that the kitchen has far more prevalence than before, the staff here is solid at what they do, and the area is also more spacious than it was previously. The downside is, like other reviewers mentioned, you basically have to be in your 20s, like to date people in their 20s, or want nothing worse but to still be in your 20s to essentially enjoy this place. As such, the crowd leans younger (and sometimes more energetic or hotter-tempered), so this is probably a place better suited for the younger crowds.

Good drinks, good crowd..knocked a star because this place is deceivingly expensive...I mean, its in Newport but...you walk in and it looks like any other twenty-something hang out spot...i surely didnt expect 2 beers and a shot of captain to be 37 dollars...thats a little extreme..there are too many bars down in this area to be paying this much for drinks IMO. I like it and it was good but i wont be back because of the prices.

Youd be hard-pressed to find another place on the Newport Beach Peninsula that encompasses everything most people are looking for when they visit the area. Great food? Check. Awesome beverage selection? Check. Great people watching? Check. Try the world-class, handmade meatballs, chase it with a hard-to-find Pappy Van Winkle bourbon, and revel in all the beach beauties dancing to the jukebox.

Went to have a drink at the bar with my husband. I got my ID checked and he let me in abday then when he checked my husband the bouncer denied him and said he was too intoxicated. My husband only had two drinks prior to going to the bar, I feel the bouncer was just picking and choosing who he wanted to go in. I wont go back in the future!

Dont get me wrong, its a happening place.......for mid 20 year old or 40 year olds wanting to be in their 20s. We had some beers and a couple of mixed drinks, drunk pizza, anti pasta salad and meatballs. The food is basic bar food nothing to run for. There are a couple of pool table tables....this is a see and be seen type of place.

Holy cow is this place loud with bros on the weekends. If you wanna grab lunch and a drink , plan on bringing ear plugs. If you can catch this place when its a little quieter, its great. The female bartenders were agonizing over how being 23 felt SO OLD which gave me a good belly laugh.

Its a fun place, but its always super crowded like too crowded. If youre trying to meet new people good luck because everyone is pretty occupied with someone else, if youre trying to chill with your group you better show up early to get a table. Music is usually good, drinks are good.

Went here on the Saturday night before Halloween. After waiting 45 minutes in the line, we finally got in. The staff was fair and respectful. Despite being unbelievably crowded, I didnt have to wait long to get a drink. The dancing was also really fun. Would definitely return.

Came here to watch a NCAA game. The food , service, and beer was good. It was definitely a rowdy college bar atmosphere so; if youre looking for a more quiet place, this is not it. However, it wasnt bad considering there were a fair amount of TVs in the sitting area.
