Hrmm. On their door, theres a flyer that says this place is the best in the bay. Its good pizza, no doubt about it. Definitely better than your average joe Dominos Pizza Hut pizza. But "best"? No, its not that. Its good, but saying youre the best is a bold claim. I came here, us being a group of 4. We were actually seated fairly quickly. Pretty suprising since it was pretty packed in here. That alone got me pretty excited for the food here. Our order was a large italian combo and an order of "garlic bread". Let me clear up why I say that: they actually give you a sliced up loaf of french bread, a roasted head of garlic, and WAY MORE BUTTER THAN YOU NEED FOR SUCH A SMALL LOAF OF BREAD (I referred to it as "butter-lovers butter".) So basically, its "make your own garlic bread". Mind you, its not the toasted sort of garlic bread youre used to. Maybe you wont mind, but I do. Why make me do extra work for an appetizer that WE HAD TO PAY FOR. From a cheapo steakhouse like Black Angus to a nice joint like Stanfords, bread and butter like this is FREE. Maybe if it was free here as well, I wouldnt mind as much. Also, for all the butter they give you, youd think theyd be bringing you out more bread. They dont. Mayhaps I complain too much. Ah well. A note about our server: he was a tad bit snippy. When we ordered our pizza, he told us that it could only feed up to 3. That was a lie. I dont usually use internet terminology in my reviews. but I can only reply to that with an lol. The pizza was more than enough for the 4 of us. We all got 2 decently sized slices. Anyhow, because of that, we ordered that garlic bread and well... see the paragraph above. Also, when he brought the pizza, it was on the metal base but it was slanted so the pie was darn near ready to fall in my lap. I adjusted the base so it wasnt slanted, but he kept saying "dont touch it, dont touch it." So annoying. I guess hed rather have the pizza al l spill unto my lap. The pizza itself? It was good, I liked it. A tad bit on the thin side, but pretty flavorful. I do wish their large was bigger though. 2 slices was good, but I couldve went for just a bit more. Like I mentioned, definitely better pizza than your run of the mill delivery pizza. But all in all? NOT the best of the bay at all. Okay pizza, but I dont think ill be coming back unless its with a big group of friends. Even then, ill still suggest other places over this one.

My bestie loves this place. I think its good, but its just a little too cashy for what it is... and it is absolutely crawling with these Berkezoid families with young children. This area seems to be teeming with these types. They raise these absolutely mannerless children who will undoubtedly grow to make the millennials look grounded and hard working, because they have never been reprimanded for a single thing and the only questions they have ever encountered are about their feelings. But alas, for deep dish style pizza... this is your only option, I fear. Just hope that little Timmy doesnt tire of pestering his sister or hell wander over to your table and wipe his boogers on you... We wouldnt want to make him sit in his seat at his own familys table through an entire meal... that make hurt his feelings...

Me and my family have loved the food and the service at Little Star since they came to our side of the bay. Tonight, they treated me to platinum-grade exceptional customer service. Its Christmas night, its rainy, I return to my car after putting in a to go order, and the car battery is dead. I call AAA, but that can take up to two hours. There are hungry people at home! What do I do? Little Star was super busy with holiday diners, but someone asked around if anyone had cables. An employee named Susanna happily hooked her engine up to mine, got some current flowing through my car again, THEN offered to take my credit card in while I waited at my running car, and bring my pizza out to me. Amazing, amazing, amazing customer service.

The pizza here is incredible! We ordered a large deep dish half Meatball and half Little Star, and a Greek salad. I highly recommend both of those pizzas. The cornmeal crust is delicious and perfectly crunchy. The tomato sauce was super tasty and unique since it had different herbs and spices. Our service was excellent. We sat at the bar so our bartender served us and took our order. He was attentive, polite, and kind. We watched a basketball game and this was a great place for it. Overall, amazing pizzas, service, decor, and atmosphere.

Serious Chicago-style deep-dish pizza in the Bay Area? Oh YES. Top-quality and distinctive pizza, and no attempt to play around with a bunch of superfluous alternatives -- they know their pizzas great, and they just run with it. Add in the solid accompaniments (nice drinkable wines, four good beers on tap, a couple of straightforward salads with quality ingredients, etc) and youve got an instant neighborhood institution. As long as they want to stick around, theyll do great business and Ill be part of the crowd.

If you like deep dish you are probably up the street at the place that is famously best in the East Bay. You could do yourself a favor by trying this place out though. I took my brother-in-laws randomly looking for an easy place to sit and have a pint and a slice. Was very surprised by: the decor, the beer and wine list, and the quality of the pizza. In all categories Little Star delivered way above expectations for us. I dont even like deep dish that much, and I ate half a damn pizza.

Ive been here at least 5 or 6 times and I always get the same thing: a goddess salad and an off-menu deep dish pizza, the brass monkey. The salad is dressed with an awesome creamy pesto dressing, and the pizza has sausage, spinach, ricotta and fetta, mushrooms, onions, and garlic. Two things set this place apart (and above) Zacharys: the crisp cornmeal crust and the lack of huge crowds at all hours. For a superior deep dish pizza in a relaxed atmosphere this is the place to go.

Edit to my last pre-liquor license review: tacking on a star for ice-cold Racer 5 on draft. My favorite (or 2nd favorite maybe?) pizza place in the world has made its way to the east bay. Ive frequented both SF Little Stars for quite some time and they are truly on my go-to list of favorite restaurants in the city. Ive found that all three locations have some slight nuances to their pies, discernible only to pro pizza connoisseurs such as myself.

Eat it! Deep dish will leave you lethargic, and its worth it. I know theres this whole" Little Star or Zacharys" rivalry in some peoples worlds, but I figure they are both delicious, just slightly different flavors and textures, so it depends on whether or not you want to wait an hour and a half for Zacharys or not. And Little Star has a nice happy hour right now. Staff is very friendly. Food is fresh. There are definitely busy times here too.
