Giant Coffee does not have the vibrant name expected of a premiere coffee shop like Lux or Cartel Coffee Lab. But dont let that deter you from going. I came to Phoenix for a one-week business trip and had the opportunity to sample coffee in the downtown Phoenix area. Most of the coffee shops were somewhat homogeneous, but Giant stood out as my favorite. Out of all the coffee shops I tried, Giant was the only one that served both espresso beverages and pourover coffee. Pourovers are extremely popular in LA but not so much in Phoenix. In Phoenix, the menus are typically limited to espresso variations (macchiato, cappucchino, mocha) prepared on a La Marzocco machine. Unlike what its name suggests, the coffee at Giant are not enormous like the counterparts found at Starbucks. The largest size served at Giant is 12oz. Giant sources its beans from Four Barrel and offers organic Straus milk, products which are from the Bay Area in California. I appreciate Giants attention to detail. Straus barista milk specifically compatible for coffee is used. This milk is richer, sweeter, and creamier than the ordinary milk available at chain shops. Breakfast is one aspect that Giant Coffee fares better than LA coffee shops. Breakfast in LA is usually limited to simple pastries. However at Giant, oven baked eggs, proscuitto, and levian toast are available for $8. In LA, this type of food can be found at diners but not at boutique coffee shops. The difference is that at Giant, I could eat a delicious full breakfast AND sip on a cup of crafted coffee before work. At LA, I would have to choose one or the other. During my next visit to Phoenix, I will be sure to stop by at Giant. The environment was comfortable, the beverages were carefully-crafted with premium beans and milk, and prices were slightly lower than those at local coffee shops.

Well, now... my search for urban style coffee shops continues in the downtown region. Found a gem of a shop at this spot! The atmosphere was the perfect feel of young urban energy, without immaturity. Just earlier that week, I stopped by a newly opened coffee shop located on Roosevelt. The facilities were off the chain. However, when I approached the counter, I was greeted... wait, no... I actually wasnt greeted! In fact, I got the feeling that I wasnt welcome there. Needless to say, I chose to take my business elsewhere. So, finding giant vindicated my efforts to find the next cool shop for me to chill at. Anthony made the experience that much more enjoyable. He was familiar with the latest in music (you know, the kind that you dont hear played on the radio all day long) and the many styles of good coffee. This is a definite new spot for me to hang at while going over scripts, planning exercise routines for clients or just to get a taste of energy from urban life.

All I wanted was a double espresso to go and they refused to give it to me. The girl at the counter said that espressos had to be consumed " In House " and she was really rude about it too... Rather than argue with her I ordered my double espresso and waited 10 mins for it and I was one of only two people waiting for coffee.. Their espresso was horrible and it wasnt even hot, it was luke warm... I fail to understand why this place cant/wont put espresso into a to go cup ??? The place was clean and looked nice but from now on Id rather go to Lux Coffee on Central & Campbell or Copper Star on 7th Ave... What kind of a coffee shop refuses to give you your order in a to go cup ??? Its like trying to order a pizza from a pizza shop thats closed on Super Bowl Sunday !! WTF ??

I tried Giant for the first time about a week ago. For starters, parking is limited & I had to park across the at CVS parking lot. I imagine at some point CVS will get tired of people using their lot. The inside of the shop is pretty cool. I ordered my vanilla latte and a pastry treat. The coffee temperature was Luke warm but the pastry was great. As I sat across the person I came to meet there and tried to have a conversation. The music playing in the shop was a little too loud for conversation, I felt like I was trying to have a conversation at a club! The overall experience was disappointing, it wouldve been a cool place if only they would focus more on quality of their products theyre putting out than the whole " hipster " scene their trying to be.

Giant has some great beverage selections, a comfortable atmosphere, and a low-key vibe (especially on the weekends). The prices are generally comparable with other nearby coffee houses, and the quality is very good. If there was one thing I might change about Giant, its the portion sizes of some of the dishes you can order - sometimes I find that the portions can be huge, and while thats not always a bad thing, I never like leaving food. Overall though, when Im in downtown on the weekends, Giant is always an option that comes to mind.

I wish I had something good to say well maybe I do... The place is very nice inside but that where it stops. Lady taking out order was not welcoming and the coffee was a 6 out of 10 and thats barely a 6. After we sat down to wait a guy walked up and she had a big smile and welcomed him. Made me wonder why we got the cold shoulder but thats not what my rating is for. 3 stars because it wasnt that great I go to coffee shops all over the valley and this spot dont cut it.

Honey vanilla latte is the only flavored coffee drink Ive ever fallen in love with, with that being said I firmly believe that most folks looking for mochas should go ahead and go to Starbucks and leave the staff at Giant free to make excellent americanos for me. :) The staff here is excellent and they pull consistently good shots.

Specialty coffee? Sure? BAD tasting coffee. Beans seem to be not bad, but the taste of our capuccinos was watery and with some serious off flavours. Not what we payed for. Barista needs to keep learn to dial the grinder and clean equipment PROPERLY on a daily basis. Minor but latte art was shameful. Needs to learn to pour milk too.

They serve Four Barrel coffee which is one of the top 5 roasters in thr country in my opinion. I really like the prosciutto & eggs as well. Probably the best, classy, relatively non pretentious coffee shop in downtown Phoenix. I prefer it over Lux due to the quality of coffee and reduced number of horrible people.

Cool, trendy, if youre into that. Friendly staff, but it might take you a long time to get what you ordered. Not a ton of seating, and not much for parking. The food was good, though, and its a uniquely designed space. For some reason, they were playing heavy metal music the morning we were there. Bizarre.

Love this place. Everyone is kind. The atmosphere is one of the best to chill or work in. Its one of my fav places to sit and work from. I usually am a basic Americano with honey kind of girl but I tend to try new things here. Their Honey Latte is great if you are in the mood for some creamy goodness.
