Phenomenal bakery for dine in or takeaway. Youll find a bustling brunch with the most decadent french toast and their baked eggs are all the rage. Their lunch is busy and worth the wait, although we arrive early. We love to get items from the bakery to take home, here are the highlights: the famous canneles, almond croissants, brioche and french breads, flour-less chocolate cake, and the seasonal quiches are DIVINE. Excellent coffee and top notch hot cocoa including homemade marshmallows. Another favorite item is the chocolate shortbread sandwich cookie - sometimes filled with a peanut butter white chocolate ganache cream and sometimes peppermint (seasonal!) or another clever flavor. Locally owned, and lovingly run by 2 of the best. This is the home of the "bronut" and it is a favorite - google for the full story! (a few tables are outdoors for coffee/pastry time solo or with a friend) FREE PARKING!

Ate there today. Took 5 minutes to be seated in a dining room that had empty seats. Hostess (waitress) told us she was bussing us a table, then proceeded to ignore us. A guy saw we had been waiting a while and seated us right away. Another 10 minutes to get a glass of water. Food was good but significantly overpriced for what you get. I ordered the Croque Madame which was basically HALF a ham and cheese sandwich with an egg on top. My son ordered the chicken salad and it was small. Nothing came with it, no side, chips, zip. Lunch menu is extremely limited and this was the only menu we were given. We came early thinking we would get better service, more choices. Didnt happen. Very disappointed.

Go to brunch and pastries in Cville. You can guarantee yourself a great brunch with exceptional service when you come here. The brunch is in the mid-price range for brunch in general. To some its a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. All coffee orders come with a cannelle, yum. The food always tastes fresh, and their eggs are always done perfectly. If you are on the go, their pastries are wonderful for that cheat meal breakfast, or to take to a morning meeting. A good place all together. Get there early on the weekend for brunch, if not expect to wait a bit.

Their "financier" pastry is their one gluten free pastry, and it is exceptional. They do have a flourless chocolate cake which is gluten free also but i havent had it. This is where i get pastries when Im going to visit someone or bring a loaf of their olive bread which everyone adores. This is a special place and the people who own it arelovely. The staff here are all personable and kind. Today for the first time i got a latte and it was perfect (for shots in a large ..yum! )

Im a creature of habit. Once I find a great spot and figure out my favorite meal I repeat it regularly. I get the Croque Madame, a side of the Surry sausage, and a breve cappuccino. Every single time I get this it is exactly as good as the first time I got it. The food and service are consistent. Theres something to be said about consistency. Killer baked goods and solid drip coffee for when I break habit.

This place has absolutely delicious pastries. Theyre some of the best Ive ever eaten. But we just ate off their brunch menu for the first time and it was an overpriced embarrassment. My wife had a frittata and I had a quiche. Everything was very under-seasoned. Our side of breakfast potatoes were simultaneously burned and undercooked. It was the worst meal Ive had in Charlottesville. Stick to the pastries.

Really overpriced, even for a European-style bakery. $10.50 for a large commonplace loaf. And they dont offer any creative or complex breads which youd think the higher prices on the basics would be meant to offset. Staff were very friendly. And their chocolate croissants are pretty good. I did not visit the "restaurant" section, so dont take this review to apply to that.

Best bakery in the area!!! All the good are baked fresh thought the day. Its a little pricy but well worth the price. They have no additives or proservetive in their products. The place can get a little crowded because people line up to get their breads, pastries and cakes. Whenever I buy their sourdough bread my children gobble it up in a halve a day.

We ate a great lunch and then took some pastries and a multi grain bread with us for later. All of it was outstanding. We heard it was good and it really is. It is a bright friendly restaurant and bakery/patisserie. The food and the service are great and-of all things-there is ample parking. We plan to try the brunch and breakfast menus next.

My wife and I had lunch yesterday at MarieBette. Lovely little cafe, with excellent lunch items. She had Croque Monsieur and I had Croque Madame, and both were wonderful. For dessert, we stepped into the bakery side and selected sticky bun and tart (mouth watering). Definitely a place to put on our list of favorites.

This restaurant/bakery is amazing. Their food is so delicious! The staff is great. The dining room is small but cute! Little side note, if you order the eggs they are runny! Not slightly like they describe them to be but still amazing! Ive been twice in one day thats how great their food/staff is!

I love this place! The only reason Im giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I think the Croque Monsieur needs to come with a mini-salad on the side to justify its price. The menu has a limited selection but its exactly what one should expect - this is a bakery&café, not a restaurant.

Thought I would check out this new (to me) bakery/cafe. Bought a couple of pastries that were out. of. this. world! There was a lovely selection of breads, baguettes to buy, and they also serve lunch. I couldnt stay, but plan to go back soon.

MarieBette has very good food and is located in a nice location. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the prices are pretty reasonable, but are slightly expensive for the quantity of food received. The baked goods are fantastic, however.

My wife and I stopped here just after getting back from Belgium, and it had a similar vibe for sure. Im not a professional bakery critic, but the food was great albeit a little pricey for a croissant.

Legit breakfast items - both egg-based and pastries - in Charlottesville. They could use a little operational streamlining but the wait in line to order at the counter isnt too bad.

Incredible coffee and pastries. Weve had breakfast here a few times and have always been pleased with the food quality and service. They even have a few GF options.

Cozy and friendly with amazing food. I love the Atlantic baked eggs with salmon, but everything is on point. The pastries are out of this world.

Good place to go and grab a pastry and coffee. I would shy away from their cafe, especially around lunch hours - they can get swamped!
