I went to DeSano Pizza Bakery this past Saturday (early evening) with a friend and was less than impressed. The girl taking our order was very short, and quite honestly, very rude. Thinking back on it, it was laughable. I think it was obvious that neither me nor my friend had ever been there and she was less than helpful. She also proceeded to make us feel very stupid- we had asked them to add mushrooms to our pizza and she said (and I quote) Ummm, not to sound stuck up, but we dont change our pizzas.. RUDE. Why we didnt walk out then, Im not sure.. We ordered a small pizza (with no mushrooms) and the caprese salad to share. Oh boy. You call that a salad?! A bunch of spinach, a few grape tomatoes and 2 tiny pieces of mozzarella are a SAD excuse! Considering what they charge, they should be delivering top of the line food. We were expecting huge tomatoes with an abundance of mozzarella. Yeah.. not at all what we were served. To make my experience worse, I asked for tap water when we ordered. The girl informed me that they had a water cooler in the back dining room that I could get water from. I looked everywhere and couldnt find it. I had to get back in line to even TALK to talk to the girl and she then (again very rudely) informed me it was broken.. She made me pay $2 for bottled water, which prompted me to give her a look like are you kidding? so she then suggested I use the WATER FOUNTAIN. Wow, REALLY?! Are you serious? That bottled water absolutely should have been complimentary. I will say, the time it took for our food to come out was extremely quick. And really, thats about the only positive I can draw from this visit. Will I go back again? No. Do I expect anyone to take this review to heart? Probably not. The whole reason we went to DPB in the first place was because some co-workers had mentioned how good it was. They ranted and raved. Maybe we were just unlucky, I dont know.. I dont want try again to see. Very unhappy since I was expecting to have an awesome experience.

My experience was just pretty average pizza. The place is pretty huge with two sides to the "L" building so if one area looks crowded do not give up make sure you try the second side ( the bakery side gets much more business - its the bar side thats usually slower). Its a nice space that can accommodate large parties/families and makes for a great spot to gather with a large group. We ordered the CAPRICCIOSA large size. The crust was okay, not as firm and crispy as I would have liked. The ingredients placed on the pizza were random and sparse and that goes for all of them ( san Marzano tomato sauce, mushrooms, artichokes, prosciutto, garlic, scamorza, mozzarella di bufala, pecorino roman) - I almost forgot it was served with mushrooms and artichokes because it was not until slice number three that I found them. Two of the most most disappointing aspects of the pizza was the quality of the prosciutto, which to me tasted like watered down boiled ham and the pizza sauce which was bland and watery. A redeeming part of the experience was the service, which was friendly, helpful, courteous very attentive and professional. A nice touch to a very average eating experience. Not sure if it might have been an off day for them but for my experience they did not live up to all ratings and hype.

Nashville has several great pizza experiences in town. DeSanos is a killer pizza spot in a city with a lot of competition. Pizza Napolitano is the style of pizza they make at DeSanos and they know what they are doing. For those of you who do not know, the Pizza Napolitano style involves using a very specific group of ingredients and cooking method(wood fired oven) so that this pizza is very consistent no matter where you go. It is the different toppings and combinations of topping that makes each place stand out. DeSanos is very particular about certain pizzas on the menu. They will not substitute ingredients. My advice is find a different pie and experience the pizza they want you to try. My favorite is Pizza Diavola. They did a great job with the decor and feel of this restaurant. The three ovens are the focus when you walk into the dining area. They are truly the stars of the show. The tables are arranged so that patrons sit on benches together similar to a beer garden setting. It also reminds me of the communal feeling of a cafeteria or a family reunion. I love eating there in a group. You are missing out if you have not tried their pizza. Go get one today.

Ive visited this restaurant 2 times so far. I realized that I have not been eating pizza since I was born. This is something else. No Papa Johns anymore unless there is no choice. This experience can not be explained with words. Everyone has a different taste of course. Here is the list that made me leave this feedback: Woodburning pizza oven imported from Italy, 3 of them! Fresh thin crust dough I guess they are using organic vegetables or I was charmed. Tomatoes and fresh basil was incredibly tasty Cheese was so delicious. Usually chain restaurant pizza cheeses makes me feel like throwing up after the 3rd slice. I was able to eat 11" pizza myself and that was filling. Crispy dough which I like the best and so hot right out of the oven. Sides are vinegar, olive oil, minced garlic and parmesan cheese. I can say that this is the first pizza ever impressed me. I would never think that a pizza would impress me this much. Even in a busy time, you get your pizza in less than 15 minutes. This is my only favorite pizza shop now.

This is the best pizza in Nashville. The restaurant has little to no ambiance, but the pizza is so good that you routinely see people there in formal attire. The main dining room is a large noisy room with big wooden benches. They opened a second room that was supposed to be for the grown ups, but it was over run with a toddler birthday party the last time we went, but thats the only downside. We love The Desano pizza! The ingredients are not only fresh, but they are also brought straight from Italy. There is a beautiful irony in the chaotic environment with a pizza that is such a perfect experience that it makes everything else melt away.

The first time when I went to this pizza restaurant was on Nov.1st, 2015. I made a phone call to this restaurant and ordered a Diavola to go. I told the cashier that I was going to pick it up in two hours. However, when I got there, I was told that I got to wait for at least 15 minutes. ( I assume that they even didnt make my pizza until I got there.) I dont know whats going about the service of this restaurant, but that definitely ruins my day. I type this review while waiting for my pizza in this restaurant. Jesus! I would not recommend this restaurant because of the service.

We had a very nice experience at this Nashville location of a small, nationwide chain. The open kitchen affords lots of opportunities to see your pie being tossed, topped, and baked, and the end result -- pretty good pie, with near-perfect crust and fairly generous toppings -- satisfied everyone at the table. While there, we had the opportunity to see a manager stop a pizza on its way to the customer; the pie, it seemed, wasnt round and well-balanced enough to meet quality standards. It was good to see people taking that kind of pride in their work. Recommended.
