Since they are directly across the street from the AMC theater. My boyfriend and I figured it would be a great place to catch a bite to eat, while we kill time until our movie. However, around 7:30pm on Wednesday February 18, 2016 we experienced discrimination from the female hostess due to the fact that we were black and gay. We walked in and politely asked for a table for two and were told that it would be a 5minute wait. This seemed peculiar since there were open tables and it wasnt crowded. We were asked to sit at the bar and we would be informed when the table was available. Ten minutes past and another black couple walk in and since we were in earshot,we hear the same hostess tell them to please wait at the bar as well. Five minutes after they sit at the bar, a white couple come in and they are expeditiously seated. Since we were in earshot we could here that they did not have a reservation. My boyfriend goes to speak to the hostess and she claims she "forgot" we were here. This was a bold faced lie! Aside from everyone I stated in the story no one else had came through the door or left out. So the fact that she became flustered and forgot that quickly as if the line was wrapped out the door is perplexing to me. I would hate to see what she does when its crowded. When we brought this to her attention about how she ushered the white couple to a table but made the blacks go wait at the bar she immediately mad a face like a deer caught in headlights. My boyfriend wanted to speak to a manager, which in retrospect I should have let him. But at that point I was so disgusted I just grabbed his arm and told him, you see her face she knows she was wrong lets just find some place else to eat. Its really disheartening that in 2016 I would ever have to experience this treatment, let alone feel the need to write it. But since my boyfriend didnt get the chance to speak with a manager, I decided to let this be the forum to speak up. I have never ate here and they might have great food. But from what I experienced and watched other people of color experience. This is not an establishment I want to patronize. Very disappointing!!!

I was at 5 napkin burger on 10/13 around 10 pm and sat in a booth parallel to the side street. I would love to comment on the quality of my meal But I Cant. I went to dinner with my cousin and was seat immediately. After spending our first 5 minutes looking at the menus and deciding what to order, we closed our menus and awaited our server cause they hadnt made an appearance yet. Another 10 Minutes had gone by without a glass of water or any sort of acknowledgement, My cousin had to use the restroom and we decided to give it another 5 Minutes and if no one had come over we would leave when he returned. It looked like there we 3-4 servers doing laps without a glace. So 20 minutes went by we where very hungry so we left. We proceeded to walk up and down Broadway looking for something else to eat and nothing. We pass by 5 minutes later and another couple was seating in our booth and was already served wine. Thanks for making my evening with a poor meal from Penn Station. Ive been hearing great things but I guess you dont serve my kind there what ever that might be, Normal? Thanks for nothing!!! PS the booth are very soft and comfortable.

Ive given 5 Naps many shots but it keeps disappointing. For a place with "burgers" in its name, the main attractions are disappointing: the burgers are okay, but far from great. The signature burger is perfectly fine but definitely not worth a detour. Items like the lamb burger are slightly more interesting but, again, better incarnations can easily be found elsewhere. The most disappointing item was the panko-based onion rings: a but like cardboard and none of the beignet-like quality of the traditional version. On the plus side, there is a large selection of libations. Service is very friendly. Sadly, it is also very pushy. Last time I was there, our waiter kept upselling every item and repeatedly tried to get us to order extras. Felt a lot more like an Olive Garden or some such, than a restaurant that tries to be somewhat upscale. Too bad,.as Id love this to be a local favorite. A quick note on my rating scale: 5 stars = exceptional food & service; 4 stars = excellent food & service; 3 stars = decent to good (top-of-the-line for fast service restaurants); 2 stars = mediocre; 1 star = not recommended.

5 Napkin Burger is on point. The original 5 Napkin Burger with Gruyere Cheese is amazing. The cheese combines with the burger and caramelized onions to create a unique flavor. The portions are really good and it is priced well. Our group was interested in the deep fried pickle appetizer with pastrami and did come away not disappointed, and the wings some of the best Ive had. The sweet potato fries were made really well and salted just right. My friends also really enjoyed their mixed berry lemonades. To top it off, we got the 7 layer chocolate cake which is extremely rich. As my friend suggested, get a glass of milk (addl $2). All in all, the decor and service was great, and I will definitely come here again.

Serveur très pro qui était content de servir des français. Burger veggie très élaboré et original (16 ingrédients composent la recette). Le burger normal a un steak très bon et des sauces légères qui changent. Bonnes frites. Bons cocktails. Cheesecake classique sans plus. Compter environ 15$ par burger. 7$ les desserts. Point négatif : les odeurs !

I came back here for brunch, and the first thing I noticed was the menu, they changed it up. They no longer have omelettes, the one item I wanted , when I requested if they could make one the staff member said he could not because omelettes are messy to make. Ten minutes later the staff member was on break and was eating an omelette. They also raised the prices, which was brought to my attention by my sibling. Heres the deal thou, Im a huge fan of brunch, many places Ive gone to are always willing to accommodate my food allergies, and theyre great about it hence I go back. I understand that not all places can be accommodating, but no need to rub it in my face! Will not be coming back.

I tend to write reviews from a vegetarians perspective (though I happen to know that meat-lovers adore this place as well). My take is that 5 Napkin Burger offers THE BEST veggie burger of any restaurant in NYC, perhaps anywhere at all. I personally enjoy it best over a salad, otherwise the bun can overwhelm the flavor. I would pay anything for this burger. The UWS location of 5 Napkin Burger is slightly less hectic than the 9th Avenue location - but expect a lot more children, and still a significant wait. Although they dont deliver (please fix that!) you can order for pickup. Bottom line: If youre a vegetarian, but even if youre not - try the veggie burger!

A restaurant oddity, this spin-off of the nearby Nice Matin is a chic, if sterile, burger bistro. The burger is admirable, hulking and juicy, and comes well endowed with comte cheese and rosemary aioli. Everything else, from the cleverly chosen bric-a-brac on the walls to the sprawling menu seemingly designed for a cross country expansion as a dressed up TGIFridays, is nice looking but unnecessary. The saving grace of this joint? Its late-night deal turns it into a bar snack heaven. $2 sliders, 50 cent wings, $4 beers. The expensive, incomprehensible dinner menu is forgiven, my friends. Ill see you after 10.
