Made reservations since we had 6 people and a stroller and was told everything would be okay. When we got there they had to put together a table in the pool hall area because they had no idea who took my reservations and couldnt accommodate us. It was boiling hot downstairs, bathroom was out of order and the bathroom upstairs was absolutely disgusting. The carpets smelled and our chairs kept getting caught in the gaps in between the pieces of carpet. We got our appetizers and not 5 minutes later got our dinner so everything was on the table together which defeats the purpose of getting appetizers. We got refills once and even though our server was very pleasant and nice we sat with empty glasses. I also thought it was odd that gratuity was added with 5 adults and a kid but that was the least of the problems. There were flies that would not leave us alone and not one time did a manager or anyone come down to us to offer their apologies or ask how we were doing considering it was obvious they screwed up and we werent happy down there. The food was mediocre at best for the price but the hard cider I got and the beers my family got were good. I recommend coming here if u want drinks and maybe a light appetizer with one or two people but definitely not with more and I will not be returning. There are a lot of other places around the same area that have great beers great food great service.

Very disappointed in the overall experience, our group chose this restaurant with hope of watching the game and 5mins into the game they changed the channel. Several times we were told they would change it back "in a couple minutes", and after about 20mins they changed one television (out of 3) to the game. Also, we waited over an hour for our meal, without being told what the holdup was, while we saw other tables being checked on. After an hour of no foos, the waitress says its coming but they just discovered theyre completely out of a food item that a few of us had ordered (they didnt know this 30-40mins ago or even when we first ordered it?) We decided to wait a little longer for our meals and when it still didnt come, we just had to leave. Extremely disappointed in the poor customer service and the unprofessional and disrespectful way we were treated. I will not return and I would encourage others to avoid it as well.

A bar in a sleepy college town with a killer bottle list. I made my first trip to Bacchus for lunch on Super Bowl Sunday. The house beers have always been phenomenal when Ive been able to grab them, and this time was no exception. I was a little disappointed to only see three of them on though; I was expecting at least five or six, but I think I "managed" with an amazing IPA and a crushable saison. The restaurant itself has a very homey/hipster vibe, and I can see why the local university kids thrive on it. If I could rate Bacchus purely on their beer, it would be a five star review. However, on a Sunday with little traffic inside the restaurant, I still had to wait almost a half hour for a grilled chicken wrap. The staff also seemed more interested in gossiping about new hires than getting to drink orders or knowing what beers were on tap that day. I hope that was purely a fluke experience. I would love to come back!

I went to Bacchus on my wedding night with my family to celebrate me n my husbands nuptials. I was placed at a table upstairs n my waitress name was Natasha. She was very rude to me n my family from the time I got there and she came over to get our order. I felt rushed, and very not wanted. I grew up in New Paltz n have been to Bacchus many times I know there food to be very good. But that night the waitress made me feel like it was the 1950s and blacks werent allowed to eat amongst the whites. It was a special night for me n my family n I thought I picked a special place to eat, but it was a nightmare. I guess with bad must come good, cause so far in my marriage that has been the only thing that bothered me.

Bacchus is decent enough, but could be so much better. Instead of buying local food ingredients and making some effort towards healthy, interesting food, they buy cheap ingredients and have standard fare. The decor does not have any style or flare, and the back open seating area feels like a prison. A few plants could make a big difference back there! Also, there is practically no heat in the bathrooms, that are desperately in need of updating. Most of the people I know in town go to Bacchus so I go there, but I wish we had a more hip, down to earth choice. If you are thinking of opening an alternative watering hole, please know you have my support!

Super YUMMY! And big portions. The place is cute, perhaps a bit too dusty, but it has such a wonderful charm that Ill over look it. The goat cheese and shrimp quesadilla was great (average entrée price between $13 - $19) and the beer selection is out of this world. I LOVE that they offer a beer sampler! The only thing kind of lacking was the service. The staff seemed very stressed and hurried and I felt as if my questions were a major inconvenience. Over all I would definitely recommend eating here while visiting the cute town of New Paltz.

Somewhat of a mainstay in New Paltz. Huge beer selection and a strong selection of various liquor. The food is reliably good and the only reason I didnt give them a 5 star rating is that the menu hasnt really changed since I worked there 15 years ago. With an eclectic decor, the place invites you in with a charm that few college town bars are able to match. Easy to find in the core of downtown New Paltz and close to public parking. If youre in New Paltz NY, have a nice cold beverage in an iconic reputable establishment. Cheers!

Best place in New Paltz for beer selection but if top shelf liquor is your taste beware they charge Manhattan prices for the good stuff. We like really good booze so we have curtailed our visits here when our tastes are for cocktails. Just posted a picture of a pint glass (not really) hold 12 Oz of beer and room for maybe one more. So know their pints are really 13 Oz or less depending on head. Rustic village iconic bar and restaurant with good home style cooking and usually very good service.

This place used to be good. It has went down hill in recent years. The food quality has decreased and the prices have increased. The service is terrible and they treat you like their doing you a favor. They have recently changed their menu for the worst! The Guided Otter is eating their lunch! The Otter is a much cleaner restaurant, with better food. Bacchus might be okay for locals and college kids looking for beer, but if you want decent food and service look elsewhere.

Terrible experience... Jamie was our waitress and I only know that because its on the bill. Smdh never knew who our waitress was. We came in diff grps and sat together as one to be forced into a crazy tip she didnt deserve. Water wasnt refilled, we werent checked on at all. We were charge for something no one ordered. Just a hot mess. For one girl the tip was equal to the price of her nachos.. Like wwwhhhaatttt? Never again totally turned off from this place. No stars!
