I am a publicist, I deal with the public and with the media as a career. I am always super amazed when people in a service oriented field forget what service means. I was recently in Boston with one of my clients and we chose to go to Haru for dinner after the screening of her film which is part of of this years Roxbury International Film Festival. First of all when we got there the hostess seemed reluctant to seat us, we were four people of color and one White friend. The restaurant was hardly over full, but she made it seem as though she had to search for a table. We were seated and once ready to order the waiter came over. Mind you, he had been standing around doing almost nothing. He began to take our order, and one of our party had questions about two dishes that seemed very similar and asked the waiter what the difference was. His explanation was not clear and after a few minutes going back and forth he blurted out, " can you hurry up with your order, I am very busy." I am sorry, whatever happened to customer service? I was the first to get up and walk out. My client reported the incident to the Manager and he claimed that the waiter said no such thing. He was nowhere near our table, but dismissed our claim and seem totally disinterested in sorting things out. Will never recommend HARU to anyone and I am writing to the local newspapers to ensure this story is known. If I could, I would give the restaurant 0 stars.

For special occasion sushi, this is it - service is impeccable, atmosphere pristine, modern and seemingly never too noisy...but the food is the real masterpiece. Wonderfully arranged, each dish comes to you like a little present: and unwrapping bites of Beef Nagamaki, Vegetable Dumplings, and rolls like the Gramercy Park Roll (crunchy spicy super white tune & jalapenos wrapped with tuna, yellowtail and salmon and topped with lemon, cilantro, tobiko and yuzu miso sauce) is the best part. Youll shell out, but its worth it - and they have very reasonably priced drinks - our table got delicious cocktails for $6 each. Top it off with some mango sorbet and/or green tea ice cream, and you have a perfectly rounded night out.

Our second visit; just as happy as the first time! We had a lovely evening of delicious and unexpected food, personal service, and wonderful conversation. Of note on the menu: the Boston unCommon roll, O Toro sushi, the chefs special roll, and the fried cheesecake. Daily specials were also well-chosen. Despite the business of the evening and several last minute requests for our reservations, we had no problem being seated. Our server was prompt, efficient, and friendly; her suggestions for dessert were impeccable. We spent the evening talking and laughing easily. Saturday evening or not, the ambiance was calm enough for conversation.

I came back here again more recently for my daughters birthday. Shes turned 19 and she loves this place, plus she also had a birthday treat from here so we wanted to use it. We ordered appetizer specials from their Haru hour, as well as the Lobster tempura which she loved, as well as a couple of other specialty rolls. Shes not big on Sashimi so this was perfect for her. We opted vanilla ice cream for dessert and the waitress was cool and put a candle in it. Service was a lot better this time than the last few. She came over several times checking on us and made small talk.

I finally used my $20 birthday certificate. I liked the service and server was sweet. I order the tempura lunch special and to be honest, it was ok borderline disappointing. The food quality has gone down which is sad. I expected the tempura to have a lighter panko crust but it came out with a deep fried batter and a little more greasier...it was ok since it is similar to bar food at a sports bar with a tempura title. It is a big let down since it was my birthday lunch...too bad since the ambience is nice. I should have tried the sushi but Im almost hesitant now.

Absolutely the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Server was awful. Had to ask her three separate times for a glass of water. She had someone else bring us our drinks. She recommended an awful tasting wine. The manager brought out the food as we saw our server goofing off with another server. Our soups came out way after or food was delivered when we asked for them first. The sushi fell apart on the plate because it was horribly rolled. Over all worst experience, definitely wont be returning.

I was in Boston for a trade show in March and ate lunch here twice, and a dinner, because my first experience was so good. The Miso-yaki baked cod appetizer was out of this world. I had a memorable salmon bento box that was cooked to perfection, and the roll selection and prices were what you would expect at a full service sushi restaurant. I went to PF Changs and it was hot and empty, glad I moved around the corner and crossed paths with this place. I give it all thumbs up!

Sushi chefs were very feiendly to us. Even gave us some free sushi. Excellent service. Sushi is reasonably priced and very good. Came back here 6 months later and still great. Service is awesome. I sat down At the sushi bar and before I could turn around the waiter was taking my drink order. Chefs are happily making sushi behind the bar. Great atmosphere and vibe. I get around to a lot of cities and this is one of my favorites. And the sushi is soo good.

EN: Good quality sushi but its a little expensive for the service they offer. Its fine for a short lunch only if you need to stay in this area ES: Sushi rico pero el servicio y la limpieza del restaurante no son tan buenos para los precios que tienen. Està bien para comer algo en la zona. IT: Sushi di buona qualità ma il locale è costoso soprattutto se si pensa al servizio e pulizia del locale. Accettabile se si deve restare in questa zona.

The problem with going out for sushi is that it always seems like a good idea. We had a great dinner at Haru including a couple of rolls, some sushi, and sashimi, and the standout, the tuna tartare app. On top of that we each had one of the two sake flights, which our server and the bartender were eager to discuss with us. While not cheap, the delicious food and personal attention made for a great night out.

Great sushi. Came here late at night when I was stuck by a carving for sushi. I was bracing myself for the worst as I havent really found a sushi place I like in the city. This place is great. Awesome friendly service, great music and the sushi was awesome. You can tell its good when you dont need Tamarin tho give it flavor. The avocado was on point, tasted fresh. Coming back here often.

Went to Haru a few weeks ago and had good service, but the sushi was sub-par. Tried it again and it took 45 minutes for 3 sushi rolls to come out and when they came they were disgusting - literally the worst sushi I have had. It not only looked not fresh, but it tasted sour. Usually I dont write poor reviews but after 2 bad experiences in a row I have to advise to not go to Haru.
