Honestly I "used" to love comming to this place and eating with my my daughters or co workers, now i dont TRUST them touching my food...i stopped ordering my usual (curry chicken meal) because i didnt eat the hummus or the side salad it came with. I started substituting with a "kids chicken and rice meal & a side of curry sauce" it was half the price and i could enjoy the same portion of food. The owners wife didnt like me doing so if my daughters wasnt present when ordering... she turned down my $ 2 times?...usally end up spending $30-$40 everytime i come. I came with my 2 daughters and dined in on 8/26/2017 and ordered "3" kids meals, wine, greek salad, sides ect. and ordered a curry chicken meal to go (didnt get full off the kids meal) the owners wife seemed frustrated with me, handed me my to go order and said "I like you ...but you can not out smart me and question why i ordered 3 kids meals) after spending $50.00 that day. Got home and to eat my curry chicken meal and i was SHOCKED to taste my food had been ruined with "extra" salt added in my curry SMH . I am very offended at the way i been treated, and also for my food to be tampered with after spending $100s with this restaurant. I will not be back! It shouldnt matter what the customer orders, i would NEVER turn down ANY $ that a customer chose to spend with u out of all the other choices out there , ever wonder why McDonalds stay busy and is a multi million dollar restaurant? This place is only busy during lunch time, during the afternoon they are dead.... No telling what else they do to your food when they are upset with a customer . That is very disrespectful and SCARY. I would never ever TAMPER with a persons food, my tummy was hurting for 3 hours after and i had diarrhea for 2 days smh. And yes i have called the health department regarding this issue to prevent anyone elses health from being in danger.

Went into Addis on our way back from 4th street. I believe we stopped in there because there was no bar crowd. There were 10 in our group and we wanted to drink. The owner, Abbis (sp), took our order and then the magic happened. Our group consisted of five men and five women. The ladys drank beer and sat at a high table, and the men stood at the bar and drank bourbon. Our knowledge of bourbon was very minimal until Abbis, who is Ethiopian by the way, explained it in a very easy and persuasive manner. We sampled several makers of bourbon and just listened to him speak about bourbon and different ways to enjoy it. I highly recommend this place for sampling bourbon. The prices are great and his selection covers many bourbon makers in Kentucky. At the first sight of this place, it does not look like a bourbon bar. So If you want ambiance and expensive fixtures, go to 4th street, and expect to pay double what Abbis charges. He has the knowledge and selection to further your bourbon experience. When we come back to Louisville, Addis bar and grill will be our first stop!

The food here is fantastic! The hummus appetizer is an amazing. They have kabob meat and veg plates, but I think the real stars are the Ethiopian plates, served with delicious injera flatbread and richly flavored vegetables, lentils, or meats. I had the vegetarian, which had three colors of lentils, each tasting different and delicious, plus collards and cabbage. I ate a friends leftover chicken kabob the next day and it was moist and tasty cold from the fridge. The owner gave us good service and entertaining conversation as well! For the price, this place is a great deal and I would definitely be a regular visitor if I lived in the area.

OK. Now The food here is pretty good. We tried the chicken curry, Ethiopian lamb and Ethiopian beef. Solid stuff. But the place is in shambles. Wont let you use credit cards unless you pay 5$ fee for it. There is a constant high pitch weeee sound coming from the cooler. The toilets- both ladies and gents- are blocked.. Note Ill still give them 4 stars because the food was that good. And seemed like the whole town loved it as we saw at least 6 people waiting at the counter throughout the 45 minutes we spent there.

I typically go between the channa masala or Ethiopian vegetarian combo. Lots of food, great flavors, just the right amount of spice. The channa is my favorite in town, including at purely Indian restaurants. Good tomato base with a slight smoky flavor adding to the ginger and garam masala. Really good. Small salad, hummus, pita and rice make up the meal. As for he Ethiopian combo, all the traditional elements. Injera, Kik Alicha, misir wot, gomen are part of it. Good spot for vegan, vegetarian or carnivores.

Awesome place! Delicious med. food, great service and decent prices! Portions are such that youll surely be taking home leftovers. Vegan & veg options are plentiful, but theyre still outnumbered by the carni dishes. I porked out on the falafel app and the veg plate (to go). The ppl that dined in seemed to get bigger dishes than me, with way better presentation than a take-out styrofoam container (obviously) ...

excellent food! this is the best restaurant in Louisville, hands down. The owners are super friendly and make great suggestions. the food is consistently delicious and healthy too! I always order the vegetarian combo, great price for so much. they have a huge bar and great drink selections. This restaurant is perfect for our corporate gatherings too, lots of space for a big group. highly recommended!

Very non-professional. I called for a carry-out order FIVE times and still no one answered. In a business, when the phone rings, you ANSWER IT. The phone is supposed to be treated like any other customer in person. This lack of customer service is a reflection of the attention given to the overall quality of the restaurant and the food.

One of my favorite places downtown to get "real" food. I eat here about once a week. The line can get long if you get there after 12pm for lunch as people pour in groups of 4 or more. I have never had a phone issue with them not answering like someone else posted and typically place an order in 20-30 seconds.

Good Mediterranean food for a decent price. They also offer what appears to be delicious Ethiopian food, but I havent tried yet. Sometimes takes a while to make, but a great lunch spot if you have an hour. Theres plenty of in door seating and some patio seating as well.

Poor service. Lunch time is the same time but they are never ready. Yes the food is good but the time to just through the queue to order is crazy. Then time to get the food is just as bad. If your lunch is one hour you will not have time for Addis Grill.

Addis has my favorite chicken curry in the city. The chicken is juicy, the hummus is creamy, and the portions are spot on (though Id love more hummus but its just a side). I go once a week for lunch and I dont think Ill ever get tired of it.

So good. Ethiopian food expertly prepared by people who are genuinely interested in making you happy. A little spendy, but worth every penny and portions are ridiculously large, definitely enough for a second meal.
