Weve been looking forward to this place for awhile and finally had lunch there. I ordered Chicken Cilantro soup with a roll, and a side of chicken salad. The soup was delicious, I was a little put off by a piece of chicken skin in it. The chicken salad was very... crunchy, with a little too much peppers and celery, but pretty tasty! I hate to write something bad about this place, because it feels like such a loved Cafe in Santa Monica... but I went to grab a high chair for my baby, the first high chair was full of food from the previous child who used it. Okay, so I grab the other one... a bug crawled from under it. Yikes! It was near a window, and not near the kitchen, but... yeah... Service is my biggest complaint. I appreciate good service, but theres a difference between service and "okay, may I enjoy my meal without you being here?" The guy who was in the dining room must have approached us at least 5 times... forcing us to stop conversation, move plates out of the way, hand him water glasses, etc. I just couldnt really get over that. Would I go back? Nah, but Im glad we tried it! Would recommend for a one time thing.

Stumbled across this place in 1988 and was instant love for the food and ambiance. Coolest place in the area. Best LA breakfast for years until Coras opened but still good. Sadly, those days are over. The remodel looks good inside but its the food, stupid! All those good benedicts are gone, replaced by "different" dishes, according to the manager. Like chilaquiles, which literally had a bag of tortilla chips on the place. The fruit was once ripe and delicious, now it consisted of mostly apple chunks and some hard unripe nectarine slices. I pointed this out to the young mgr, who had a long-winded speech on the "change". Dont mind change, just cant stand crappy food. Perhaps he was nervous as he asked if I wanted to a to-go container for the 2 plates of leftover tortilla chips....did you NOT just hear what I said about too many tortilla chips AND bad taste and you ask me that?! Oh well, am happy to hang at Coras and Urth from now on.

Very average food, very expensive. Busy place that seems exciting but its not. Desire to go the extra yard for customer satisfaction is none existent. Dont go if a celiac, they cant even guarantee the gluten free pasta has not been boiled in the same water as standard pasta FFS. How hard is that to arrange to stop someone ending up in a hospital bed! Back to the food, it really is very average, anyone that knows or understands proper cooking and good quality ingredients will rip this place apart, as would I if I could be bothered. Definitely a place for the middle class set that want to be seen and thought of as being hip, when really most of them are boring pretentious unhip dullards. Sorry guys but much better places than this. Ps. One positive is the actual space is nice and airy, open plan etc but that is not enough to save the poor service , food and attitude.

Food was amazing! Got the pesto Brussels with fried egg on top. I had a request for extra egg whites which they easily incorporated. Water service was a bit slow at first but then it was always available when I was looking for it. Coffee was good, they have dairy alternatives. The vibe and decor are spectacular! So open yet cozy, really enjoyable ambiance. All of the beautiful pastries tempting me behind glass as I waited for a table which did not take long. Passing by an open kitchen which was tidy and well organized for the people in the kitchen. The bar area has a great space with a more limited menu if you just want a quick bite. Also, the manager Brittany was extremely personable and took care of an issue with the food taking a bit longer than expected. Keep up the good work Rose Cafe! This was my first but definitely not my last visit.

Its been thirty years since Ive been to Rose and thirty more years wont be too soon. So uppity. Eighty bucks for four sandwiches and two cups of coffee? And no refills on the coffee. Instead, you get back in the buffet style line, wait, re-order, pay again and wait wait wait. Lame. I thought the world had evolved from such pretentious, counter neanderthals glaring at you beneath their heavy brows, hoarding all the hot joe ...so, yeah, if youre looking for blast from the nineties, head to Rose Cafe. If youre looking for great food, hot coffee and friendly service (and better atmosphere) head to Superba or any other number of great places scattered around Venice.

We came from downtown Los Angeles after hearing from a friend that The Rose had reopened. We started coming here in 1981, I think. The food was always very good and inventive and the deserts were why we drove from so far away. The place looks great but what happened to your wonderful recipes. The desert offering was especially disappointing. The Roses deserts where the best in the city and now the recipes are dull and the offerings are limited. Bad decision. There are now several outstanding cafes and bakeries in the Arts District that have completely blown away any competition from The Rose. Bring back the deserts that made you famous!

Sub-par. You walk in and the music blasting; you dont get a lot for your buck, everything is served on super small plates; they dont even try to make it look special or taste delicious (I had avocado toast). They definitely dont try to make YOU feel special either. No water for the table even though asked. I also noticed that it says "substitutions are politely declined" on the menu which sounds like some bullshit bc thats intolerant of peoples allergies and/or lifestyles. I will agree interior design is nice overall and cafe is spacious, but Id recommend staying home - your cooking skills are, Im sure, far superior.

This place was amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and were very accommodating to our private event. They even printed our company name on the menus! The food was incredible, and they also had great coffee. My favorite thing was the brussel sprouts with an egg on top. Like nothing Ive ever had. I also really loved the place. Not only is inside really nice and well designed, but the back patio is perfect. Such a nice place to get some work done as they offer wifi, and you can tell the others who are there are doing the same. Amazing neighborhood and location as well. Thanks for your service guys!

Sitio cool. Restaurante informal con mesas corridas. Comida sana con ensaladas, quinoa y bocadillos elaborados. La gente que va allí va a tomar algo, trabajar con el ordenador,... Tiene un muy buen ambiente y barra de bar con cocktails. No es económico, pero si que tiene buena calidad.

When visiting the cafe, some of their staff can seem under-trained. While the snacks and coffee are delicious, Ive had to wait over 15 minutes for a latte, which I was unfortunately unable to pair with my banana cream pie (recommended!). In the restaurant/dining room, the servers are fantastic and the food is divine. The soms are a little pushy and will pounce on you if you so much as glance at the wine list. Overall, youre going to be paying a lot for some pretty great food. I wish that all of their staff would reflect the "high value" location.
