I thoroughly enjoyed Ramen Taka - it was my first time having ramen with thinner noodles, and I have to say, Im a fan! We ordered ramen, gyoza and the chicken appetizer. My husband wasnt a fan of the chicken, but the ramen and gyoza were both delicious and I would definitely get them again. The difficulty with Ramen Taka is that you have a knee-jerk reaction to compare them to Orenchi, but they are definitely two very different experiences. Orenchi definitely outshines them in certain areas (the egg in the ramen being one of them), but Ramen Taka is a great experience. The food is good, the service is excellent AND you dont leave feeling full but somehow frustrated that you just spent 2 hours of your life there... *cough* Orenchi problems *cough* SO, if you are looking for a place that has very good ramen (great flavor, thin noodles etc.), great value (lunch specials with friend rice, reasonable prices etc.) AND some of the nicest service I have ever experienced (including a minimal wait-time for food), you will have a 5-star experience here like I did. I hope that they eventually expand into dinner-time hours!

Imho, Taka appears to be the most authentic ramen in the Bay Area (after five years of scouring Tokyo shops). Most good traditional ramen shops in Japan like to add some attitude to their flavors, often a bit too oily and salty for your health, but oh, so good! Taka follows this tradition. Recently, there is another kind of shop which is more gourmet-like, taking care to be more subtle and refined: Orenchi falls into this category. For me, I prefer Taka most of the time and Orenchi once in a while. I go for a large bowl of the standard Taka ramen here. BTW, I dont care much for atmosphere or even service - they didnt understand 片メンで油少なめ - as long as the wait isnt too long (when youve done 立ち食い in Japan or eating in a stand up bar where they want you in and out in less than 10 minutes, any service will do).

Great broths, yummy noodles and eggs. My only qualm was the pork which was good but Ive had better. One odd thing was we were placed at a four person table with another couple we didnt know. It was a little awkward because the table is really flimsy and light and when someone accidentally kicks the table just slightly it moves a lot. And we could overhear the other conversation easily. Im not saying I wouldnt share tables but I think more can be done to improve the experience. Im used to the Japanese layout of ramen shops where theres a long row of seats and strangers seat side by side. Even that is better than having to seat with another couple on a four seat table. Nevertheless, I dont think this will stop me from returning some other time.

The score should have been 4.5. This place is awesome. I had the ramen Taka, whose broth was flavorful and whose pork slices were thick enough to offer a juicy "bite". I didnt realize that they offer two types of noodles (thin and thick) and had the default option (thin). next time, I will try the thick noodles. I also had the shio tofu, which literally means salty tofu. It had the perfectly silky texture, but it was a tad too salty for me. So, I am deducting 0.5 point from my original 5.0 rating. The appetizer selection is very wide for a ramen house. Overall, this place offers a very spacious, hip dining experience with excellent service. Parking is available in the back.

This place is usually really crowded when I go during dinner. The wait luckily, isnt too long as theyre pretty quick with buffing tables and getting parties seated. I really like the miso broth (usually I would add spicy paste to it to make it even better) here. At other ramen places, I would usually go for the Tonkotsu broth but theres something about the miso here that I cant stay away from. Theyre also one of the ramen place where I can actually get potato croquettes from. The service is usually not too great when its crowded and there might be a long wait for the check if youre not proactive.

It was a pretty large restaurant with bar seatings which is convenient for individual customers. I had Taka ramen which had a reasonably light broth with good flavors, al dente thin noodles, two slices of fatty pork and a soft egg. I liked it. Also ordered the fried chicken which was pretty good. The fried rice was just so so. The only thing is that they do not take to go orders which I found interesting. Business seemed good on a Thursday lunch around 1pm. Parking was limited though. With Starbucks next door, parking might be a problem during certain times, such as weekends.

Standard ramen place with the typical pretty small selection of broths, along with a decent selection of other dishes. Service is good and prices are reasonable, however, the main problem is that the noodles they serve always come stuck to each other in small chunks. It is like if they just popped a pack of frozen noodles into the pot and did not bother to actually properly separate them from each other. This makes it harder to eat and obviously takes away a lot of the restaurant feeling.

I honestly dont understand what everyone raves about this place for. Meat was super bland and felt like it was just boiled (no charring as is the case in most other ramen shops) The egg was absolutely one of the worst eggs Ive had at a ramen place in a while - white and overcooked. Tasteless. Noodles and soup were average (not bad, not amazing). Parking was mediocre, as were wait times. I wont be coming back (service was decent).

The ramen was great. My spouse and I both got the Tsukemen. One thing about eating Tsukemen in the Bay Area is that no one seems to know that the soup is too salty to drink. So, the restaurant should get you some plain soup stock to add to it after you finished the noodle. When I asked it the soup stock, the owner/chef actually know what I wanted and delivered. Fantastic!

The Lunch Special A was a good deal at $11- it includes Taka Ramen, tasty and fresh tasting fried rice, and salad. I was glad to have taken a fellow Yelpers advice to request thick noodles. While the broth was not any oilier than most ramen soups, I experienced the dry mouth associated with the use of MSG. The staff was friendly and attentive.

細麺でスープもちゃんとしたとんこつラーメン。スープの味がちょっとにくっぽいのとときによってスープが脂っこすぎることもありますが、麺も固茹ででちゃんとした豚骨です。おいしい

Gave 4 stars because the parking is tough to find. But this place is awesome with a selection of side condiments that I havent seen anywhere else. Tasty noodles and broth. Cooked just to the right temp and chewyness of the noodles. Another bummer is that they stopped take out orders. I would have loved to take home some food.

Taka Ramen と餃子を注文。豚骨細麺ですが、ここはスープがかなり醤油よりですね。がっつり感はなくマイルドなお味。量も普通です。割りとさらりと食べられます。

Ramen Taka has very consistent quality, and the service is always exceptional. It does get very busy for dinner, especially on the weekends, so make sure to arrive right at opening or later in the evening. I go back and forth between the Japanese curry ( if its available ) and the Tonkatsu Ramen. I never leave disappointed.

We enjoy coming to this spot because its great quality ramen, and we have yet to encounter a re-donk-culous wait! The staff is super friendly and speedy. The Tsukemen (?)(dipping ramen) is pretty good here! Not as salty as other places. If its too salty, you can ask for a cup of hot water to dilute.
