Worst place in Oxnard, bar none. Went in for dinner 06/06/2015 4PM. Almost no salad in salad less bar. Old clam chowder and chicken soup very little juice just drying vegies and meat, no crackers, cornbread was hard on all 6 sides, no butter. No body at carving station, we left at 5PM still now one. Had 6 pieces of dried up kielbasa, no peppers at all.2 pieces of dried up cheese? pizza, not too bad. Tried a chicken leg?? More like chicken jerky on a bone. All food containers were being scrapped on the bottom. Not even any bread available to try to soak up some juice. No roast beef, ham, nothing what a rip!!! Tried to get a cup of coffee. All coffee cups were covered with soap residue. I tried two trays under the top tray on each side, no good all covered with chalky residue. I notified Vicsnte, our buss boy, he went in the back to find some clean cups. When he came back to my table he gave me two water glasses for hot coffee. He notified a bald middle aged guy in blue shirt about the cups, no body ever looked at the cups. Old blue just shrugged his shoulders and started gossiping with another blue shirt. I went to the dessert bar and not much better. Notified Waitress about cups never did hear back. The ice cream bar was a disaster, carpet covered with trash and garbage. Machine and table covered with drying ice cream. Looked too toxic for me. This place should be shut down until the health department can retrain employees about safe handling and serving of food. These guys have training or knowledge in the food service industry what so ever. Do your self a favor and go hungry. Ripped off for $30.63 and left hungry.

As a visitor from Orlando, FL, I must say this restaurant needs a lot of improvement. And I believe this restaurant is part of the Ryans buffet chain, which died out in Orlando, and this place does not help enhance a positive image. Arriving on Presidents Day for the dinner buffet, the first thing I did was head to the restroom to wash my hands and it was NASTY! There was toilet paper on the floors, all trash cans (even the little ones in the stalls) were full, toilets hadnt been cleaned, and flies were hovering. It was like they hadnt been in there to clean all day. Then, the buffet was depressing in selection and preparation. i was so disappointed with the lack of variety, which was nothing like they advertised. Food bins were constantly empty, except for what was clearly inedible, and the kitchen staff acted as if certain foods needed rationing by making them available at only certain times. Utensils, plates, bowls, and cups also clearly needed replacing. I dont know why the owner(s) find these conditions acceptable. I can only imagine it is because they serve a largely ethnic (Latino) population. But I know one thing for sure, I will not be back. Its just not worth the cost, which is very high for such low quality, nor my health. I say either make things better or just disappear.

It had been almost 2 years that I had not visited this place and last night I thought it would be a great idea to have dinner with my family. The prices are pretty much the same but the food was the worst. First of all the plates were really dirty full of stuck on grime and had visible scratches on the bottom. All the utensils were dirty some with stuck on dried food and watermarks. The food was really bad it was really hard like it had been sitting there all day and they didnt bother to make fresh batches. I had some salmon that was really over cooked and tasted bland. I literally can go on forever. I have never written such a bad review on a "family restaurant" but I just felt the need that I needed to get the word out there. None of my family members enjoyed their food. I really dont know what happened I used to enjoy coming to this place but this will be my last visit. Hometown Buffet is a poor excuse of a restaurant!

My family and I went there on March 16, 2014 at 10:30:54 (Sunday) we encounter the following issues: No plates, Corn chips were old (Empty containers) No Mashed potatoes (Empty containers) No Fried jalapeños (Empty containers) No fried chicken (Empty containers) Taco shell with meat sitting by the taco meat area (someone left it there) Ice cream machine had a big pile of orange ice cream underneath the dispenser and the Vanilla/Chocolate machine was empty. (We were 8 people and the empty dirty plates kept piling up on the table and nobody seemed to care) We asked for a piece of Coconut cake and the lady told us to go and look for a plate because there were no plates for the cake (Dispensers were empty) At the time we were leaving, there was an ice cream cone melting by the exit next to the gumball machines) This place keeps getting worse every day. (I love the food when it is done right) Thanks

My family and I have eaten here 2 times in the past several months. We enjoy this restaurant as it brings great memories of my late grandmother, she always called it home depot, lol so now that is the standing joke. home depot for dinner tonight. well back to the review. Several items have been out when you go to get them. The ice cream machine was out, the hot fudge was out and the restaurant was busy. Some needs to keep an eye on the items. The first high chair I got for my son the straps were broke so he was able to stand up in his seat, the worker was very kind and went and got another. We have always enjoyed our visits but they need to keep up on the items to have the buffet restocked in a timely manner.

The Truth
This location used to be really good when it first opened, but since the manager has changed several times the service has gotten worse until its really unbearable. Ive gotten sick eating fish sticks (how does that happen?) Ive seen food spilled over out of the serving tray and then just scooped back in by the servers. They are slow to stock food, and it is messy at times. I really dont go there anymore because of the way this HB is run. Its really sad because I know allot of elderly people like to go there, I hope none of them are getting sick from the food.

I have been to your Buffets in San Luis Obispo, Squoia,Roseville, and Oxnard. All have been excellent except for Oxnard. The food is never kept stocked, many times the containers are empty, sometime the food is cold. Most of the time there is many areas that are not kept cleaned up. I dont think the manager or person hiring knows how to hire personnel or they are not trained properly for the job. I keep going in hopes that things will change but so far little has. Im sorry for the unpleasant review but I want to tell the truth in hopes that it will change.

last time I ever go.....have been there about 4 times in the past year, and it is always the same. I arrived at 4:20 pm, the utensils were out of stock, half the food containers were empty, what food that was there was not hot, some of the drink dispensers were empty. You would think with the dinner hour starting everything would be well stocked with plenty of hot food, but it wasnt. Then they decided to mop the floors.............. I have eaten in other Hometown buffets and so far this is the worst one. I wont be back.
