My wife & I had an early lunch at this restaurant before our long drive home. We were surprised by the crowd standing outside & waiting for tables. But the wait was not long. This restaurant is a bit divey. The tables were very close to one another. The staff came across as family members working together, doing the best they could. Coordination appeared lacking. One waiter took our order. A short time later, another waiter came asking us for order. Speaking of being uncoordinated, my wife and I did not coordinate well that time either. Typically, we consulted one another then ordered different dishes. Then halfway through our meal, we would swap our dishes. This way, we diversified our taste instead of being limited to a single dish. But this day, we failed to do so, and ended up ordering essentially the same thing. My wife ordered the egg noodle soup with duck meat; I had egg noodles and duck meat with broth on the side. We still swapped our bowls midway through but both contents were basically the same. Both were good in their own way. We also had one order of Chinese fried dough. One order had 2 double pieces. The dough was not as light and tasty as we would like. We could not even finish one pair. The Vietnamese coffee had too much condensed milk, making it way too sweet. We had to dilute it quite a bit with water to make it drinkable. The cost of our lunch though was very reasonable. If we come back, we will go for other dishes, not any side item or drink other than water.

Ive been on this exploring mode lately and i decided to try Trieu Chau so that I can check it off from my list. Being a non-Vietnamese, visiting this type of joint can be overwhelming. I got lucky and skip the waiting by sharing the table with 3 other strangers. I ordered by pointing to picture of some yelper (dry flat egg noodle with marinated duck and wonton) with slight modification (i wanted soup). The broth was absolutely fantastic with much flavor and settled sweetness embedded in each spoonful. Trieu Chau is located inside of ever popular plaza sharing with other popular joint, Newport Seafood. It appears to me like lunch crowds are usually for Trieu Chau and night crowds are for Newport Seafood. I recommend highly. Like other yelper mentioned, I would like to try the seafood fry noodle next time.

Summary based on 1 lunch: --very good food. For my 1st visit I got the often recommended noodle soup with combo meat (#101) with mixed noodles, egg & rice. --good service, though it pays to be ready for the "Oh, you need a menu. Just a sec. [one second later, menu is presented with many, many choices. Waiter, pen poised, waits expectantly for you to make up your ignorant mind.] Size bowl? Noodle type? Noodle size? Drink?" --cash only, pay at cashier --if dining solo, expect to share a table. --take out menu by front door --parking mid-week at lunch ok if you arrive by 11:45. Otherwise, find a spot outside the lot [my next trip Im going to do some scouting.]

If you are not a picky eater and dont mind eating in hole in a wall restaurant, then you are in the right place. Its a very busy restaurant so expect to wait at least 30 minutes or more. parking is hard to find. We ended up parking in Newhope street. But the food is to die for. Very rare that we drive in Santa Ana and if we do, i ended up pigging out since Aliso Viejo has not much asian food to offer. We always order combination noodles and beef egg and white noodles. They always ran out of duck legs but we substitute with more on liver. Fyi, just dont look at the floor when u eat.

I go here very often because of the broth is impeccable and the portions are large for the price. I often order the house wonton noodle with a side of Chinese donuts and an iced coffee and that comes out about 14 to 15 dollars with a decent tip. Mornings are very busy, but the wait is worthwhile. But if you do plan on going and there is a wait, it pays to grab the menu and know what to order because it can help you get your food faster. Id recommend this place for their service, food, and price margin.

Asian "fusion" food, fused between Chinese, Cantonese, and Vietnamese food. Definitely not modern or Western, it has the vibe of an old timey Cantonese yum cha place. One indication of that is you have to go to the cashier and pay. It was pretty crowded when I was there but we got a table pretty quickly. The hu tiu was realy tasty, although not exactly Nam Vang style.

This place has been around for a long time. I have been going there ever since I was a youngen and I know that my mother has been going there ever since she was a teenager. I absolutley love the food, it tastes absolutley amazing. You usually have to wait to be seated and the service is not the best but its worth it.

I always order "to go" here because the food is great but the service is close to being bad. Theres always a line so they just want to feed you and take your money then kick you out. Ideally, if u should go by yourself like on your lunch break then your objectives would align. Anyways, Im a repeat customer.

2/4/2017 around 2 pm my family had our lunch there. We had some pho with beef and duck. The food is tasty but the soup base is a little on the sweet side. Fast service even though you have to stay in line for more than 25 minutes.

The service is very fast. However restaurant is very unclean. The red carpet turns black and papers are on the floor being ignored by all the waiters. Its not that cheap, almost $10 for a bowl of combination noodle soup...

Best place for Chinese Cambodian style noodle anywhere in southern California/ Orange County. Hole in the wall, dirty but good. Know what you want to order and it will be at your table as fast or faster than McDonalds.

One of my family favs. Meet a lot of ppl who has been eating here for decades. Good and reasonable price food. Service ok, I guess. Hard to find Teochew food around here. You won‘t regret.
