I love the cakes, well--some of the cakes. The fresh ones are great, but the trouble is with the ones that dont move. They get old and sad looking sitting in the case, stuck to other sad cakes with shriveled up fruit on it (thats how you can tell theyre old, when the fruit is dehydrated instead of fresh). I also like the fact that the pastries arent overly sweet. What I dont like is the long long long wait for service. Even if all there are is one person at the pastry counter, sure enough--its going to be a twenty minute wait. If there are two people, theres plenty of time to read all your text messages twice, or catch up on your email. Im sure theyd have a lot more business and move a lot more product (which would equal a lot less shriveled up cakes) if they had faster service and a more welcoming atmosphere with more space to wait (where you arent getting run over by wheelchairs and people who think "excuse me" is a bad word or something).

I was recommended this place. I was looking for a good sandwich for lunch. I asked the watress for help deciding. She told me to have the works. It was so awful thin yucky bread, with a thin slice of meat thin slices of some mixed meat, sausage? and a thin slice of cheese. Worth about 50 cents. Not only did I feel cheated to pay 5$ for this, because I used my debt card, they charged me another 50 cents, I will never go there a again! I am german ,and eat at many german resturants, never has it been this bad.

I live in Kansas; every rime I come home to Washington, I want the German Pastry Shops Beesting! We just special-ordered, at the very late last minute, an ENTIRE SHEET of Beesting, to celebrate our Dads 84th Birthday (early)! Thank you, our it brought back the memories of the German broetchen man that honked his way through the neighborhood selling his fresh-baked goodies and candy!

The German Pastry & Coffe Shop is not know for their sandwiches which are good too but for their fantastic cakes and pastries. I have been going there for many years and it feels like a German atmosphere.I would recommend it for their German pastries anytime.

I like it! It reminds me of home in Germany, and I have seen the sandwiches they make and they are good the person who was complaining must just need more food than a normal person because its more than thin slices and smother to fill you up!!!
