One of the worst experience of life in US, never thought Anokha restaurant would have VULGAR servers/waiters. We had a get-together at this place, my Wife and Sister in law felt very awkward as the way these VULGAR servers (all males) went continuously starring at them. It went really bad when I went to restroom, one of the server came near to my Sister in law and started straightway looking at the chest area. We thought this is typical East Indian culture as Womans are treated badly there all time by such VULGAR and unprofessional workers. We will not stop here, and will make sure its been reported to Henrico County Civil Rights Court. Anyone planning to eat at Anokha restaurant, please make sure you dont go with your family. This place is full of VULGAR severs/waiters staff, especially One server who is half bald and looks like crook from the face itself..he is the most VULGAR person. Please beware of these crooks as they might start Stalking your loved ones. Now we know why they dont have any female workers, not sure if they had in past because no female wants to work with such a VULGAR and unpleasant atmosphere by fellow Male staff.

I have eaten Indian food for 27 years since marrying my half Indian wife. We both agree that this is the best Indian dining experience (and maybe the best dining experience period) we have ever had. If you can fuse the best of Indian and the best of French cooking together, that is Anokha. They really live up to their name, which they tell us means "Unique". The decor is beautful and tasteful. The owner inspects every dish leaving the kitchen and is very hands on. The attention to detail is obvious in the quality of the menus, the decor and the ingredients. I have taken my friends there that say they have never had Indian food and they only like American meat and potatoes. After the meal those same friends have to be dragged out of the restaurant they enjoyed it so much. Dont worry if you are afraid of too spicy food. They customize each dish to your preference, from mild to extra spicy. They even make their own cheese on the premises to ensure it is fresh. I hope that I have not overstated my case. Try it yourself. I think you will like it.

A horrible dinning experience two days before Christmas. We went to yesterday to have a dinner with my family. From the very first moment they were rushing us to order, eat, tip and run!!. I have never seen something like that in my life. The place wasnt even full. A greedy server (I could see that in his eyes) told us we should order right now because the kitchen is busy. Our plates are half full and they were already asking if we are done from them! They wanted to get rid of us so they can rotate tables to generate more revenues and more tips. Greedy people !! All disrespect to them !! I didnt enjoy my food because I have to eat very fast. Put all this aside, the Entrees smelled good but tasted horrible because the meat was not cooked well!! They cooked it very fast so we can eat fast and leave. Now my mom has been sick all night. She is not feeling well. I am writing this review and I am so angry. Christmas is tomorrow and my mom not feeling well !!!!!. These greedy people are disgusting ! Will never never never never never comeback again !!!

Beware of this Stupid Restaurant for Indian community. One of the awefull experience I ever experienced in any Indian restaurant. The illiterate staff here treat there fellow Indians as third grade citizen. The arrogant staff need some sought of server training and phsycologist consultation. The response time from the servers was too late and they dont guide the customers properly in selecting the menu items and one other weird thing i noticed was a bunch of stupid servers gathered at one place and used to stare at us and passed some kind of flunky comments. With this kind of behaviour we left the restaurant in the middle of our dinner. I decided not to go to this place any more and also suggest my fellow Indians to think twice before they jump into the restaurant. Although the food is better than average they ruin the ambience with there attitude. As a restaurant freak i rather opt to go to a low rated ($)restaurant or a high rated($$$) with better customer service than going to Anokha.

I must admit that I was doubtful about an Indian restaurant that offered fine dining. I have been to quite a few in the past in different parts of the country and most of these fancy restaurants have been a disappoinment when it comes to taste. I am a proud Indian but quite frankly a vast majority of us go to Indian restaurants for the craving for good tasting Indian food than classy ambience.. I thought Ill give it a try and went in for lunch on a Monday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised by the customer service. It took around 15 - 20 mins for the main course that I ordered to come by but it was well worth the wait and the food tasted amazing.. Fresh and full of flavour... A 3 course meal for just around 10 bucks is a steal. Loved the food! Keep up the goodwork folks at Anokha! Some of us in the local Indian community should show support than being whiny a** bit**es. Try not complain about customer service when u show up for dinner @ 9:45 when a restaurant closes @ 10:00

You may like the ambience of the place if you dine in but I would suggest never to get the food delivered or pick up. Quantity is not even close to the justified for the price e.g. the box of veg biryani was less than half filled and biryani tasted like it was kept since ages. When asked about the quantity they mentioned that this is what they give. Chicken gravy dish was pathetic, chicken was literally hard as if they simply pulled out the chicken from deep freezer and mixed it in the gravy which was also not cooked properly. Not at all fresh and far from tasty. Price they quoted was a dollar more for each item than what was shown in their online menu which already seemed high for the quality and quantity of food they gave. Ill never visit this place again for dine in or pick up nor get the food delivered from this place. Not sure how they got rated 4+.

The staff is really good thats the reason I gave a star else food is so horrible. Just now we had dinner here. The naan is really small even puri is bigger than naan served here. They forget to add salt in daal n top of it the dal was stale. We ordered paneer kadhai the gravi was mixture of water and some spice. Even the rice was stale and so much chewy. For food I will give negative star to this place. But I really appriciate the honesty of the waiter our bill was $50.26 and my husband put $55 considering rest money as his tip but by mistake Ma husband put extra 100$ bill. The guy came n told me that we put extra money n give back 100$ bill. So the 1 star here is for the honesty of that guy. But will never visit this place due to poor food quality.
