When I was in high school, I always dreamed of a quiet, warm little cafe where I could do homework, sip on hot tea and mochas, and write my greatest novel. When I graduated and went to TCC, I promise you the first thing I looked for on campus (besides my classes, of course) was a cafe, and boy did I find it! Situated right amongst the campus dorms, this little cafe is a bit undernoticed, what with the gorgeous trees adding some greenery to the scene and the hulking buildings above and around it, but it is such a treat! Inside, the ambience is like walking into Paris, with a quirky mannequin, local artwork on the walls, board games and books everywhere, and a staff that is top notch! In fact, the man working behind the counter - oh so sweet and helpful! - owns the place, and he takes great pride, as well he ought to! My recommendation? Go in and try one of their seasonal lattes as well as the bagel with cream cheese and tomato (its a recommendation on the menu!) and see if you dont find yourself dying to come back!

this coffee shoppe is one of my top favorites. the barristers know how to make a good cup of coffee, their menu options are vast, the place is cozy, and they are independent/locally owned. They are one of the few places in downtown that actually has a good ice cream selection, and you can buy there coffee beans which are fresh roasted. the service is also excellent. my only complaint is the price. if you are the kind of person who judges coffee like whine, than maybe it is worth it; but if you are like me, and just want to spend some pocket change for a daily dose of caffeine, than it may seem pretty unreasonable. that is the reason why I only visit this place on special occasions.

I go to Alatte Cafe every morning before work to get Ice Coffee. They have some of the best Ice Coffee I have ever had in my life, and this is coming from a person who gave up coffee because of the caffeine headaches I would get. Needless to say I had their Ice Coffee and I have been drinking coffee religiously. Neil and Melissa are the owners and they are 2 of the nicest and coolest people. I look forward to visiting the store because both Neil and Melissa are easy to talk to and they try to make their customers feel at home. Keep up the good work guys!!!!! P.S. They roast their own coffee which is Awesome.

Wonderful place, this shop is! I recently ventured through their doors to find a wonderfully cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and baristas who really know what theyre doing. I had the pleasure of purchasing a bag of their home brewed whole beans (which are roasted daily, might I add), and as Im sitting here drinking the freshly ground and made coffee, I am pleased that there is no char or burn in the flavor. 5 stars for aLatte Cafe (right next door to TCC on Granby St, Norfolk VA), and an extra star for amazing staff!

I agree with the other reviewer that "this is what a coffee shop should be." Or maybe this is the coffee shop starbucks aspires to be ! Tasty coffee, great mood music, plenty of books if you dont have anything to read. The staff was extremely friendly and prompt with my order. One complaint : the police interrogation roomlighting is a bit much. They need to redirect the light bulbs towards the walls and ceilings to soften everything.

Such a cute spot! I love the giraffe décor, and the employees are always so sweet and friendly. I love the eclectic furniture all around and the fact that they have board games, books, and a pretty awesome aquarium. I’ve had sandwiches, coffee and a shake, all from multiple visits, and have always been happy with it! I do wish the lighting was a bit more atmospheric, but that would only be an improvement on an already great location.

I go to TCC and Starbucks is too far out of the way to get so I stopped in this morning and ordered a caramel latte with soy milk....seriously the best fricken latte Ive ever had! Their espresso was sooooo flavorful and delicious! I wish I had class everyday so I could get coffee from here every morning :D! The place has such a unique urban vibe it reminds me of the coffee shops I used to go to in Vermont!

This place is the best coffee place on the East Coast, IMHO! The prices are fair, and I have yet to be disappointed in anything Ive ordered! My son loves their frappes, in which they use ice cream, not ice and milk, like Starbucks do! If you are in downtown Norfolk, and want to go somewhere wonderfully eclectic for coffee/tea/ice cream and/or food, this is the place to go!

FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SERVICE! I called for catering and accidentally told them the wrong date for my event. I realized the morning of my event and called the store in a panic at 6am (my event was at 7am). aLatte told me no problem and got everything ready before 7am! All of my attendees were thrilled with the food and kept asking me where I got it. Couldnt be happier!

Healthy quality food, tasty basmati rice and Greek salad is fresh. I frequently order the family meal for takeout and we always pleased with our meal. Staff is very helpful and courteous. I forgot my wallet and they staff called me at home! So thankful for honest people, honest food and a comfortable place to enjoy both.

My wife and I took the Glassmaking Survey – Holiday Ornaments Four Ways at the Chrysler Museum Glass Studio this past Saturday. During the lunch break we walked over to the museum and had lunch at the Wisteria Café. I usually don’t expect much from food establishments located in museum and the like.

Their options, prices, seating, and service are all way better than starbucks! I always felt at home here and could actually kick my feet up and relax unlike starbucks and those tiny tables that only fit one person even though they have two seats. This place is great!!!! Small and locally owned!

We live just down the street and are happy returning customers. The staff are always cheerful and attentive, and the service is always quick. The menu is simple, but tasty, and is appropriate for any time of day. You should definitely pick up some ground or whole bean coffee while youre there.

This place is a Norfolk classic and I come back every time Im in the area. As a lover of indie coffee shops, this is one of my favorites and has a lot of character (and delicious food, too!) Great spot for studying or just meeting a friend. Got me hooked on lavender lattes/mochas!

Paid $7 for a little piece of blueberry cake and then an iced coffee... only stopped here because my friends coffee spilled in the car on the way to school. The place also smells like cat pee?? Probably wont be back.
