I like family owned restaurants. This place has a home town local joint feel. Our entrees came with a basic house salad and bread. The food was simple but tasty. We ordered a lot of food and enjoyed almost everything. The pizza was good too. We had the house wine which was not cheap. That was a bummer. With abundant food a second glass would have been nice but at $7 for a small glass, we decided against it. Home made food for an affordable price is good. So so decor is okay. Adding options for econo beer and wine would be a simple and easy fix to minor qualm.

A quaint, family-owned restaurant. Always an interesting selection of specials to choose from, or just stick with the basics like Fettuccini Alfredo or Eggplant Parmesan and you wont be disappointed. Meals come with good Italian bread and tiny (rock hard) butter packets - a little olive oil instead would be nice but isnt offered. The wait staff is VERY attentive so if you want to use the bread to sop up the last bits if sauce, hold on to your plate or they just might grab it before you get a chance. Try the crème caramel for dessert.

Amazing find! The food was fantastic and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful! If you are in this area, and like Italian food, then you wont be disappointed. This place makes Olive Garden look like Chef Boy-R-Dee! We Went back a second time during our stay and were greeted with a smile and a handshake. The bartender/owner/manager remembered our names and treated us like family. A must if you are anywhere close!

Would not honor my Groupon I went to the Italian Cafe last week with a Groupon and they would not honor it! Told me it was for dinner only (which was not true.) We ate there anyway, but the food and service was only so-so. Decor and music was like a tired old place from the eighties. Lots of folks there for the lunch buffet. Looks like it is reaI popular with the over 70 crowd. I will not return.

I went to the Italian Cafe last night (8/28/10) and it was terrific. I hadnt been for a few years and I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. Salad was fresh and perfect and the main courses we had were extremely good (Flounder, Trout, Salmon Stuffed Ravioli). I had a taste of each and they were all heavenly. Kudos to the chef!

The food was terrific, first of all. The shrimp primavera I had was more shrimp than pasta and bread was wonderful. Also, the staff was really great. Our server was a trooper. Shed been in a car accident and had a wrist brace on but she was attentive, talkative and did her job extremely well. So, props to Marie! We shall return, for sure.

How does this place get so many stars? Place is clean and service is friendly enough. However, the food is so-so at best. Might have been considered "good" Italian back in the 80s. A bit of a chef boyarde taste. Felt like eating at a restaurant before the TV show Restaurant Impossible got their hands on it.

Good Italian food, reasonably priced & quiet atmosphere. After a fun & busy day checking out the Monuments and National Zoo this restaurant was ideal. We were starving and ready to relax.

This place is an institution with solid Italian options across the board. Good pizza, good pasta, good wines. Nice staff, too, and a family-owned restaurant for decades now.

Staff was so kind and thoughtful. The owner checked on us for good measure. The food was great, and we felt like we were in an Italian home for dinner.

Reliable, traditional Italian food. They get their seafood fresh every day. And the wait staff are always pleasant.

Actually felt a little under dressed in shorts for dinner. Looks nicer inside than out. Great food priced well.
