I love breakfast and Chef Carol knows how to do it right. I am very particular about how my food is cooked and it is always the way I order it, no matter who takes my order. The grits here are the best I have ever had, I have no idea what they do, but they are creamy and delicious. All the fixings are homemade from scratch at this location, and you can tell with your first bite. Even the banana pudding vanilla wafers are made in the kitchen. They are only open for breakfast and lunch, but they are open 7 days a week. If you go on a Saturday or Sunday you will have a wait, you can call in and they will put your name on the list. If you go during the summer, everyday will have a wait. The word is out, this is THE PLACE for breakfast and lunch in New Braunfels. And its only a couple of blocks away from shopping, music, and fun in Gruene.

This is more of a 4.5 breakfast place, but it was excellent none the less. I decided to treat my mom while we were out running errands on a Tuesday morning. The food was excellent, tasty, and cooked well. I had the salmon bagel with an extra scrambled egg on the side, and my mom had the country breakfast with an extra pancake. The food was excellent and service was speedy, they really know how to take care of a customer. The only complaint I have is this place can run up the bill a bit. Both of our plates were 9.99 alone with the pancake and egg costing another $6, and my Dr. Pepper being 2.59, and moms coffee being 2.99. All in all, this is a great brunch restaurant, just watch out for it to be a bit pricey; but if you want a great breakfast café, this restaurant may be for you.

I was absolutely impressed with the breakfast that we had at Buttermilk Cafe this past weekend. We went on a busy Sunday morning and only had to wait 20 minutes after being told it would be 25 to 30. After being seated the waitress was very polite and informative regarding the menu choices, and never seemed rushed. A manager was walking around with a coffee pot topping off everyones cups and stopped by our table to thank us for coming. The food itself was very good, it was all quality ingredients, I dont feel that I overpaid for what I got at all - very happy with my meal.

Nice place we chose to have breakfast on a trip to the area. Didnt know anything about it aside from the Google maps reviews. I had the French toast with eggs, sausage and diced red skin potatoes. It was awesome! The breakfast sausage link were not those dinky little ones most places give you. These were twice the size of my thumb. My fiancé had the pancake breakfast and loved it. And we also had mimosas since we were on vacation anyways. Mine was a traditional, but my fiancé had one with pineapple juice and tasted even better.

A nice menu variety, friendly staff, food tasted great. an updated review - We started 2017 with breakfast at the Buttermilk Cafe. I ordered the Coastal Breakfast with the Creole Sauce, OMG it was fantastic. The staff was friendly and still allowed my friend and I time to visit and catch up. The food is rich, tantalizing and refreshing to eggs and bacon. Splurge into the new year with the Buttermilk Cafe. You wont regret it. If you could vote 10 stars - I would. Great change for New Braunfels dining.

We used to come a couple times a week, used to be great food, I know everyone has a bad day now and then, after faithfully stopping by for two months the quality of the food has gone way down my chicken was very small and dry, our fried chicken livers were like rocks. When the owners are there any issue is addressed, they have a stand in manager who in my opinion should make a new job move to a completely different field. Food service is not in her. We wont be back, wish them well with the new expansion.

Nice location and environment. However, this place is crowded, so expect a wait. Food was good, with good portions. I was a little disappointed in my eggs Benedict, as they were overcooked and solid little rocks. Sadness. I think they have a good thing going. Nothing is perfect, but they try. Staff is warm and friendly, just slammed at a constant rate. They are expanding soon, which is much needed. Hopefully they expand the kitchen too keep up as well. Well wait for the expansion and try again after.

Great Gluten Free and Regular Options Ive eaten here before being gluten and since then. They have always had wonderful food, but since being diagnosed with a gluten sensitivity finding a restaurant that has gluten free options is extremely difficult... so many people in the food industry dont even know what gluten is. I am so grateful that the owner and employees at Buttermilk Cafe have taken the time to understand and make gluten free options available! Thank you again!!

Just breakfast and lunch served here. We had lunch. The country fried steak was huge, the difference between the regular and smaller portion is the smaller has only 2 sides. The entree is the same size. The country fried steak was tasty, but could have had more fat trimmed before cooking. The fried okra was quite good. The chicken salad sandwich was good, and a half sandwich was plenty.

Honestly we almost walked out and went someplace else because we were told there was a 45 minute wait! But we stuck around and 10 mins later we had a table. Very glad we did because this place knows how to make breakfast just like Grandma used to make. Too notch food and device was decent as well. Certainly one of my favorite stops now passing through New Braumfels.

Great place for breakfast in New Braunfels. There was a 10-15 minute wait on a weekday, but it is well worth it. From the pancakes to the made-to-order omelettes, everything is excellent. The wait staff is pleasant & helpful, though not exactly fast given that the cafe is always busy. The country decor lends a comfortable ambiance and the place is very clean.

The coffee here is AAA rating... Best coffee Ive had in a LONG time. The Grilled Banana Bread was also spot on with its pecan syrup - mmmm so tasty. The staff is friendly and they also sell their coffee by half and full pounds. Almost forgot the biscuits and their softness that melted in my mouth with their already heated butter so you dont have to spread it.

Came into town to float the river. Hotel breakfast just wasnt cutting it. Came across this place on google and so happy we came. Great service, amazing food, and cozy atmosphere. The wait was completely worth it and will surely be back here on our next visit! Thank you so much Annalisa for your prompt and friendly service.
