I have nothing but good things to say about this place. We ate there for the first time last night. I ordered Fiesta Chicken and my husband ordered Chicken Fried Steak. Our house salads were very nice and the salad dressing comes on the side automatically. My Fiesta Chicken was grilled and very moist with cheese, cooked onions and topped with cheese and tomatoes. My green bean portion was double what I have ever received anywhere else and seasoned to perfection! My husbands meal, well, the meat covered the plate! It was gigantic -- enough for the both of us and again, his side of mac and cheese was not only delicious, but double anything he has ever received anywhere. He actually had enough left that guess whats for lunch? We were seated immediately when we arrived after we were greeted when we entered. Everyone was very pleasant. Our waitress was extremely attentive, but nicely paced. Our salads came ahead of our meal which is always nice. No complaints here! We will definitely be going back very soon!

What To Order: Chicken Fried Steak I was turned on to this place by people who live in Floresville. Now I make trips 20 minutes out of town to buy chicken fried steaks here. The location offers a full menu of items, but the chicken fried steaks are what bring me back. The regular size is huge, but the maverick size is just ridiculous. These steaks are juicy, full of flavor and have good breading and gravy. One of the better chicken fried steaks around. Ive grown tired of frozen, processed steaks, these taste fresh, home cooked with a crispy flaky crust. Ive eaten in as well as placed orders to go. Service here is pretty good, waits for food are not too long unless its a busy weekend night, and then its only a little longer. Meals come with a salad and sides and rest assured you wont leave this place hungry.

Everything here is HUGE! The fried mushrooms had like 30 in the basket. The smallest sirloin you can get is 10oz. The baked potato can feed an entire family! The chicken fried steak fills an entire plate. However, I think to a degree they choose quantity over quality. The food was good, but not the best. I do still love the salads even though it is a simple affair. Our waitress was friendly, the place was casual yet pretty clean. Our table was in a tight walled in enclosure that felt a bit cramped, but growing up visiting this place brought a bit of nostalgia to my meal. I may not make the drive to Floresville from San Antonio all the time to go here, but when Im visiting it is a great place to eat!

The people that work here now are rude. The front reception girl with reddish blondish hair straight hair has an attitude problem. She is never friendly, never welcomes you, must hate her job. Sits there with an attitude and frown every time we come in there. Her and the ponytailed long haired blonde girl who things she is so great, were picking on some girl named Sharon for leaving work and not coming back. Rolling their eyes and acting unprofessional. None wants to be greeted or treated this way. The food is ok but the staff here doesnt give a dam. Plus this isnt the first time, every time I walk in there they are gossiping about men or being ugly about someone else. Disgusting.

Not what I expected. After reading great reviews, Im disappointed. The website I viewed the menu on is not run by Mavericks, so the prices are incorrect; I placed a to go order and picked it up for $15 more than I expected. Chicken fried steak, and the Mavericks steak with a side salad and loaded potato. Steak was cooked well, but had a weird texture. Chicken fried steak was mostly breading and the restraunt forgot the gravy - an oversite I understand but really effected an already bad experience. Salad was brown and wilted. Texture like it had been frozen and thawed a few times. To summarize, overcharged for poor quality.

Most of the food is very good and this place has been excellent for years, but lately it has slipped some. During my last trip here I was served sour iced tea. Asked for replacement, but was again given sour tea. Ordered chips and queso. The queso was great, but the chips were very stale. Chicken fried steak was excellent. Service was sub par as well. We were at table a total of two hours for lunch. The time before last eating here a member of my party was served a raw hamburger. All other food was great. They just are in need of a few tweaks.

This place is okay if you absolutely dont want to drive into San Antonio. The staff alone is what gets me to rate Mavericks at 3 stars. Theyre always friendly and attentive when we go. But folks, the food here leaves a lot to be desired. If you want to eat out and dont mind driving in or through San Antonio, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. You may be asking why I eat here at all if I dont like it. The answer to that is marriage. My husband loves this place, but Im pretty sure he wouldnt know good food if it choked him.

I have been eating here since 2001. Service has always been slow and still is. Dont waste your money on the steak. $20 rib eye (12 oz) looked and tasted like a sirloin. Ordered onion rings as an appetizer and they came with the meal, warm from sitting under the heat lamp. Ordered my salad with French and bleu cheese dressing and they substituted ranch for French. It used to be my go to place for chicken fried chicken. They were huge and delicious. But I probably wont go there for another five years.

I had not gone here for awhile, and I remembered why, poor service. We waited 10mins and the girls were too busy talking before the took us to our table. When we finally ordered our food it took 30 mins for our food to come out, and the restaurant was not busy for a Thursday night. My waitress very rarely check in on us, and I was always looking for her to refuel our water. For spending 35 dollars I would of thought the quality and service would have been much better. We will not go back!

This unprepossessing building is a secret treasure waiting to be discovered...Or maybe like me, hidden by selfish patrons. The service, absolutely great, friendly but professional. The kitchen:. You have no idea how delicious a chicken fried chicken is until this chef creates it for you. All in all, we travel 53 miles one way, thru San Antonio to eat a delicious meal at The Maverick Grill! I cant say more than that!

Great food great service from the waitstaff. Manager or owner is a complete jerk. I dis have a complaint once and he was so rude intact told me I didnt like it dont eat here. When I paid my bill waitstaff apologized for him calling him a Dick of a boss and he treats them and customers like that all the time. Profound is a lil high portions are perfect and wait time is a lil long Comming from the kitchen.
